Edgar Mueller - 3d street art (Madonnari)
Edgar Mueller is master of three-dimensional illusion street art. He uses washable paint or chalk with the street as his huge canvas. If one looks from the right spot, his three-dimensional paintings becomes the perfect illusions. He paints over large areas of urban public life and gives them a new appearance, thereby challenging the perceptions of those who pass by. Most are drawn into the illusion and take great pains to walk around it, so they won’t “fall” in. Who isn’t awed by the amazing 3D street art paintings of Edgar Mueller, and other pavement artists? They create illusions which use a public space, such as urban centers, town squares, streets and sidewalks. 3D pavement art is labelled as a type of performance art in that artists work in view of the general public and people passing by - and get to see their reactions. These people often participate with the art piece by standing near the edge as if trying to avoid falling in, and also pose for photos. The paintings are also temporary, and prone to changes in weather. Subsribe on Happy Traveler - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB7ViK_fZPd3-3XzIgQKWYg?sub_confirmation=1

The wettest place on earth - Mawsynram, India
Mawsynram (/ˈmɔːsɪnˌrʌm/) is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya state in north-eastern India, 65 kilometres from Shillong. It is reportedly the wettest place on Earth, with an average annual rainfall of 11,872 millimetres (467.4 in), According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Mawsynram received 26,000 millimetres (1,000 in) of rainfall in 1985. Mawsynram is located at 25° 18′ N, 91° 35′ E, at an altitude of about 1,400 metres (4,600 ft), 16 km west of Cherrapunji, in the Khasi Hills in the state of Meghalaya (India) . The name of the village contains Maw, a Khasi word meaning stone, and thus might refer to certain megaliths in the surrounding area. Khasi Hills are rich with such megaliths. Laborers who work outdoors often wear full-body umbrellas made from bamboo and banana leaf. One of the most fascinating and beautiful features in the region are the "living bridges" spanning rain-soaked valleys. For centuries, locals have been training the roots of rubber trees to grow into natural bridges, far outlasting man-made wooden structures that rot in just a few years. The bridges are self-strengthening, becoming more substantial over time, as the root systems grow. Top 15 tallest buildings in the world
These Are the World's 15 Tallest Buildings 15. The Al Hamra Tower's draped curtain styling is intended to block out the Sun where its rays would fall most intensely, thus aiding in the passive cooling of a building that must endure Kuwait's sweltering climate. 14. The Princess Tower is the tallest residential building in the world. 13. This tower, which shares the pagoda styling of Taipei 101, harbors a secret: a 31-story atrium, part of the Grand Hyatt Shanghai hotel, with corridors winding around it in a vertigo-inducing spiral. The Jin Mao Tower is a neighbor to the Shanghai World Financial Center, number 5 on this list. 12. This recent addition to the Windy City's skyline appears to reflect the signature angular styling of the Willis Tower, but the story setbacks—those ledges where the building steps back from its lower heights—were more explicitly designed to align with the heights of nearby structures such as the Wrigley Building and the Marina City Towers. The Trump International Tower and Hotel also stands as the tallest building in the world to use reinforced concrete as its primary structural material. 11. This skyscraper's exoskeleton prominently displays a diagrid structural system, in which steel support beams crisscross diagonally, forming diamond shapes made up of two triangular sections. These sections cut down on the amount of steel needed compared to conventional frames while remaining structurally sound. 10. The Kingkey, or KK100, is the jewel of the Shenzhen, a major manufacturing metropolis just north of Hong Kong. The building's distinctive, transparent, glassed-over top portion hosts a restaurant and mall. 9. Formerly and still better known as the Sears Tower, this hefty, blocky office building's design is unusual, and it will probably stay that way. 8. Zifeng was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the firm behind the Burj Khalifa, and the resemblances are easy to spot. Here, the cutaway look is meant to mimic a dragon wrapping around the structure. 7. A two-story skybridge connects these twin towers at the 41st and 42nd floors. It not only gives the structure its iconic look, but it also speaks to the future of tall buildings and urban development. That future will involve connecting tall buildings at height. 6. This big building was a big gamble for its developers, given its relative isolation from the rest of Hong Kong's high-rises, but the International Commerce Center is doing just fine. The mixed-use office and hotel building has a 97 percent occupancy rate and excellent in-building services such as a 24-hour concierge. 5. The Shanghai World Financial Center's passing resemblance to a bottle opener is not lost on its operators, who sell miniature, functional bottle opener replicas of the tower in the observation deck gift shop. 4. Taipei 101 adopts some of the vernacular architecture of the region where it's built. Furthermore, the building has eight segments of eight floors each, a nod to the auspicious nature of the numeral 8 in the Chinese-speaking world. 3. The spire of One WTC attains a height of exactly 1,776 feet—a shout-out to the birth year of the United States. The building proper is only around 1,300 feet tall, but the CTBUH chose to count spire toward the building's official height. That decision saw the new building controversially eclipse the Willis Tower in Chicago as the tallest building in North America. 2. Big Ben done bigger, the Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel was built to afford comfortable accommodations to wealthy Muslim pilgrims making the Hajj. A factor that contributes to the building reaching so high: its gigantic footprint—a broader base supports greater height, as we've all learned first-hand playing with blocks as kids. 1. An innovative tripedal design, along with the projecting shapes of its edges to cut through the wind like the front of a boat to reduce turbulence, both affording greater stability, are but a few of the smart ways the Burj Khalifa succeeded in rising to its record-setting height. The building soars more than 700 feet over its nearest competitor. The same designer of the Burj Khalifa, Adrian Smith, has drawn up an even more ambitious project, the Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia. It is slated to open in 2017 and soar to 3,281 feet—a full kilometer. Subsribe on Happy Traveler - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB7ViK_fZPd3-3XzIgQKWYg?sub_confirmation=1

The most beautiful cities in the world - Reykjavík, Iceland
Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It has a latitude of 64°08' N, making it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state, and is a popular tourist destination. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxa Bay. It is the heart of Iceland's cultural, economic and governmental activity. Reykjavík is believed to be the location of the first permanent settlement in Iceland, which, according to Ingólfur Arnarson, was established in AD 874. Until the 19th century, there was no urban development in the city location. The city was founded in 1786 as an official trading town and grew steadily over the next decades, as it transformed into a regional and later national centre of commerce, population, and governmental activities. It is among the cleanest, greenest, and safest cities in the world. Colourful corrugated buildings produce an eye-popping contrast to the surrounding backdrop of water and snow-crested peaks, while the awe-inspiring Hallgrímskirkja church stands sentry in tall, majestic glory. Ride the lift to its zenith for unmissable photo opportunities. Subsribe on Happy Traveler - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB7ViK_fZPd3-3XzIgQKWYg?sub_confirmation=1

World's Most Unusual Hotels - Adrere Amellal Ecolodge (Egypt)
Sixteen kilometers from the charming town of Siwa, lies Adrère Amellal. An ecolodge overlooking Lake Siwa and nestled at the foot of the mystical ‘White Mountain'. Adrère Amellal is host to 40 rooms, all built in the traditional Siwan style, walls made of salt-rock, and palm used for the roofs. Every room is unique, combining distinction and authenticity. The earthen buildings blend naturally into the landscape, and all furniture and crafts pay tribute to the talented local artisans. Other special features include ancient olive and palm groves, slow-bubbling Roman springs, and an exquisite cuisine that includes traditional dishes cooked in honey-glazed clay pots. A massive compound built in the unlikely materials of mud and salt, Adrere Amellal Desert Ecolodge, Siwa is a monument to imagination. It is so unusual and unexpected that it could almost classify as a hallucination. Unlikely as it might seem, also the walls of some of the guest rooms are made from cakes of salt embedded in mud. This hotel is like no other. It appears in biblical fashion, a mythical town marooned in the desert, its mud bricks built into the side of a sandstone mountain, its windows opening onto a shimmering lake. At its heart it is an eco-lodge; there is no electricity, no TV, no sockets in which to charge your mobile phone. By day the sun beats down, by night hundreds of candles illuminate the land. It is a place of wild beauty, the mighty desert tamed for us mere mortals to enjoy. Subsribe on Happy Traveler - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB7ViK_fZPd3-3XzIgQKWYg?sub_confirmation=1

Ibirapuera Park, São Paulo
Ibirapuera Park is a major urban park in São Paulo, Brazil. It has a large area for leisure, jogging and walking, as well a vivid cultural scene with museums and a music hall. Its importance to São Paulo is often comparable to that of Central Park to New York City, Golden Gate Park to San Francisco, or Ueno Park to Tokyo. Ibirabuera Park opened its gates (okay, 10 gates) in August 1954. It’s a natural oasis that features 218 different species of plants, 156 types of birds and 35 kinds of butterflies, all situated within the busy city limits of Brazil’s capital state. It’s one of the largest city parks in South America. Take a leisurely bike ride around the park if you ever get the chance to go. The biggest green space in central São Paulo, Parque do Ibirapuera makes a fine escape from the city's seemingly infinite stretches of concrete. In addition, the leafy 2-sq-km park serves as a thriving center of the city's cultural life, with a series of museums, performance spaces and the grounds for São Paulo's renowned Bienal. The park was designed by renowned landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. A series of landmark buildings in the park are the work of modernist master Oscar Niemeyer; most of them are linked by a long and distinctively serpentine covered walkway. Top 10 Least Densely Populated U.S. States
Population density is calculated by dividing the population size by the total land area. This calculation is expressed as the number of people per square mile. The global population density (based on land area, not including bodies of water) is 120 people per square mile. In the United States, some states exceed that number, and other come far below. This list takes a look at the states with the lowest population density. 10. Kansas. The last state on the list is Kansas with 35.6 people per square mile. The majority of land area here is covered by crops like wheat, corn, and soybeans. In addition, the National Park Service has designated ten protected parks and memorials which prohibit people from settling there. 9. Nevada. Nevada has 26.3 people per square mile. This state has such a low population density due to its geography. A significant portion is covered by the Mojave Desert, which meant the land was not appealing to homesteaders during the westward expansion movement. The people who do live here are concentrated in Las Vegas. 8. Nebraska. Number 8 on the list is Nebraska with 24.7 people per square mile. As with the other sparsely populated states, the majority of the land is dedicated to corn and soybean crops as well as livestock grazing. Omaha City is the most heavily populated area with over 700,000 people. It is this large city that increases the population density. 7. Idaho. Population density in Idaho is 20 people per square mile. Heavily populated by Native Americans before colonization, Idaho became attractive to European settlers in the early 1800’s when it became a western territory and more so during the Gold Rush. Today, the economy is based on lumber and agriculture (particularly potato farming). 6. New Mexico. New Mexico has a population density of 17.2 people per square mile. Only 51.4% of the people living here were born in the state, and the rest are immigrants from other states, territories, or countries. The economy revolves around the oil and gas industry as well as tourism and federal spending. 5. South Dakota. South Dakota has a population density of 11.3 people per square mile. The majority of the population is found east of the Missouri River where the economy is based on crop cultivation. West of the river, the land is largely dedicated to cattle ranching. 4. North Dakota. North Dakota is the 4th least densely populated with 11 people living in every square mile. Prior to the arrival of the European settlers, this land was largely inhabited by Native Americans. It was the railroad construction that brought settlers to North Dakota. 3. Montana. Montana has a population density of 7.1 people per square mile. Historically, Montana was settled by homesteaders on large tracts of land that were divided among families. This population spread contributes to the low density of people here as well as the main economic activity, agriculture. Huge swaths of land are needed to cultivate cereal grain and raise cattle. The areas not covered by ranches are covered in mountains. 2. Wyoming. The second least densely populated state is Wyoming with six people per square mile. This state is a large state with a small population, and the most important economic activities include cattle ranching, coal mining, and tourism. A large portion of the land is either covered in mountains or designated as nationally protected (National parks and monuments for example) and therefore cannot be inhabited by humans. 1. Alaska. Alaska is by far the least densely populated of the US states and has 1.3 persons per square mile. During the gold rush of the 1890’s, thousands of immigrants went to Alaska hoping to strike wealth which significantly increased the number of people living there. Half of the current population lives in the Anchorage metropolitan area. The state has such a low population density because it is both immense and located far north, not connected to the mainland. Ghost towns - Balestrino, Italy
Balestrino is a ghost town located 70 km south east of Genoa, Italy. The History of Balestrino dates back to 11th century A.D. It is believed that the town was owned by the Benedictine abbey of San Pietro dei. Something that used to be small town bustling with villagers farming olive is now a completely abandoned Ghost town. It is believed that a series of earthquakes and landslides had eventually resulted in the evacuation of the village in 1954. Now all that is left is a picturesque town with abandoned buildings and a beautiful castle at the hilltop. The town can be reached via a rented car and is just 3.5 km inland from the Genoa-Ventimiglia highway. Church of St.George and St.Andrew, built in twelfth century A.D, are beautiful examples of Gothic architecture and perhaps the best places to start exploring the ghost town. Bisti Badlands, New Mexico - The most beautiful places of the world
Located in the arid desert of northwestern New Mexico, the Bisti Badlands (formally the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness) offer one of the closest approximations of an unknown alien world as can be found right here on Earth. The badlands are administered by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management), are free to enter, and are known officially, but less evocatively as the Bisti Wilderness Area. There are no signposts pointing the way to Bisti from any nearby towns, but the usual approach route is along NM 371 from Farmington, the largest town in the Four Corners region - this heads due south through wide open prairie land at the east edge of the great Navajo Indian Reservation, which extends for 200 miles across into Arizona. The area takes its name not only from the striking stone formations that litter the landscape ("bisti" being a Navajo term meaning "among the adobe formations"), but from petroglyphs of a crane (bird, not construction equipment) that were found in the area—"De-Na-Zin" being the Navajo word for the animal. The blasted landscape is covered in strange, undulating fungal shapes made of the colorful sandstone and shale. Huge hoodoos (tall, thin rock spires) and small labyrinths of odd stone shapes have been created by eons of water and moisture wearing away at a softer layer of ash, creating improbable, top-heavy oddities. Despite looking like a readymade set for a science fiction or fantasy production, the area has not been widely used for filming, save for the 1977 film, Sorcerer. Banksy - The world's most famous graffiti artist
Banksy is an England-based graffiti artist, political activist and film director of unverified identity. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. Banksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces. Banksy does not sell photographs or reproductions of his street graffiti, but art auctioneers have been known to attempt to sell his street art on location and leave the problem of its removal in the hands of the winning bidder. After starting as a freehand graffiti artist in the early-'90s, Banksy's first known stenciled mural appeared on an office building in Bristol in 1997. The mural shows a Teddy bear throwing a Molotov cocktail at three riot police. By the early 2000s, Banksy's work had appeared on buildings and in galleries around the world, his paintings were selling for upwards of $50,000 to major celebrities, yet his identity was still unknown. Through international fame, a major Banksy documentary, huge art events and shows in major cities, Banksy granted few interviews and kept his real name secret. For years, journalists, fans and the art community have speculated about Banksy's true identity. In 2008, the Daily Mail conducted an exhaustive investigation into Banksy and found him to be "a former public schoolboy brought up in middle-class suburbia," named Robin Gunningham, though the Very Reputable Publication was unable to confirm it. Later, in 2014, an article in The Guardian described Banksy as, "a young graffitist on the streets of Bristol who went by the name of Robin Banx or Banks (from which Banksy evolved), inspired by the French stencil artist Blek le Rat and his fellow Bristolian 3D (or Robert Del Naja), who went on to form Massive Attack." Though many have guessed over the years, scientists believe they've finally discovered Banksy's true identity. By analyzing the locations and frequency of Banksy's work, experts say his name is in fact Robin Gunningham. La Rinconada, Peru - The World’s Highest City
La Rinconada, Peru: The World’s Highest City High in the Peruvian Andes, far above the tree line, lies an old gold-mining camp that has, over the years, grown to the status of a city. Over 30,000 people live in this mountainous city five vertical kilometers up in the air - the highest-elevation human settlement in the world. La Rinconada is so high that its weather condition resembles that of the west coast of Greenland, despite being situated only 14 degrees from the equator. The summers are wet and winters dry; the days are cold and nights freezing. The average annual temperature in La Rinconada is only 1.2 °C. In reality, La Rinconada is more of a settlement than a city. There are no roads, no plumbing and no sewage disposal system. Houses are made of corrugated tin sheets with no insulation. The ground, air, water, and snow in La Rinconada, along with pretty much anything immediately downstream, are all contaminated. If La Rinconada is a city, it has to be the poorest and the saddest city in the world. Unlike other mining towns, La Rinconada is not company-owned. On the contrary, nearly all mines operating here are informal, or in other words, illegal. There is no administration and no laws. Nothing ever goes into the town’s development. The economy is unregulated; most of the gold that comes out of the mountain goes straight onto the black market. Mount Roraima - Mysterious Mountain
Mount Roraima, at 2,800 metres, is the tallest tepuy (“Table Mountain” in Spanish) in South America. The name came from the Pemon word ‘Roroi-ma’, meaning “big blue green”. Trekking up its Venezuela side, the Gran Sabana takes you to the summit. While its cliff walls are only scalable by the most experienced of climbers, there is a path up the mountain’s natural ramp-like path (usually a two-day hike). In 1884 Sir Everardim Thurn became the first person recorded to climb Roraima. However, the mountain is worth a visit for more reasons than its impressive cliffs. Mount Roraima, part of Venezuela's 30000-square-kilometer Canaima National Park, is the site of the highest peak of the country of Guyana’s Highland Range. The mountains of this range, including Roraima, are considered to be some of the oldest geological formations known, some dating back to two billion years ago. Its near daily rains have also created a unique ecosystem which includes several endemic species, such as a unique carnivorous pitcher plant, and some of the highest waterfalls in the world. Culturally, the mountain has long held significance to the indigenous people of the area and features prominently in their myths and folklore. This remote landscape of jungle and cliffs has inspired the dinosaur infested landscapes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel The Lost World, and the dramatic waterfalls dubbed "Paradise Falls" in the 2009 Pixar film Up. Football Stadium in Henningsvær - the world's most awesome football stadium
The Henningsvær Idrettslag Stadion in the small fishing village of Henningsvær, located on two small islands off Lofoten, in Norway, can hardly be called a stadium. There are no stands. It's only used for amateur football. But just look how damn beautiful it is… The stadium is located on a rocky islet surrounded by stunning views consisting of dramatic mountains and jagged peaks, open sea and sheltered bays. The football pitch was laid by leveling the solid bedrock of the southernmost part of the Hellandsøya island, resulting in a very rough landscape, decorated by overwhelming number of racks for drying cod. Around the perimeter of the field is a strip of asphalt that serves both as the crowd stand and as car parking. The stadium’s tiny capacity seems sufficient since the village of Henningsvær has only about 500 inhabitants. Is this the world's most awesome football stadium? The cemetery is located near the shrine of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, the fourth Sunni Caliph and the first Shia Imam. Thus, many Shiites in Iraq request that they be buried in this cemetery. As a result of improved transportation methods, Shi'ites from across the globe are (or seek to be) buried in the cemetery. However, burial at the cemetery "means being placed in one of the cemetery’s many catacombs." According to an undertaker at the cemetery, each crypt can hold up to 50 bodies. Neuschwanstein Castle – Germany's fairytale castle
Neuschwanstein Castle is known all over the world as a symbol of idealised romantic architecture and for the tragic story of its owner. After losing sovereignty in his own kingdom, Ludwig II withdrew into his own world of myths, legend and fairytales. Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein, English: "New Swanstone Castle") is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds. The palace was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive king, but it was opened to the paying public immediately after his death in 1886. Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle. More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer. The palace has appeared prominently in several movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Great Escape and serves as the inspiration for Disneyland's Cinderella Castle and later, similar structures. In the world of 3D sidewalk chalk art there’s Kurt Wenner, and everyone else. All have exceptional talent and tremendous vision but Kurt, the inventor and master, has such a higher degree of detail and intricacy in his pieces. Like so much outdoor street art, Kurt’s work is susceptible to the elements of nature and society. While many of his pieces may have faded or completely disappeared, their legacy will continue through photographs and memories of those who witnessed a master at work.
