Japanese House Tour

06:52
Take a tour through a modern, brand new Japanese house. Like most people in the west, Japanese tend to live in apartments or houses. I visited a house exposition center to find out what a Japanese house is like and thankfully was allowed to film in one house. House exhibition centers like this seem to be quite common in Japan. They do not exist for single apartments, but there are mansion show rooms for that. These showcase apartments of soon-to-be finished skyscraper buildings. The size of the house in this video is 202.09 square meters in total, with 113.09 sqm on the first floor and 89 sqm on the second. $50 Hotel Vs. $280 Hotel In Tokyo | Japanese Hotel Room Comparison

06:24
How does a $50 hotel room compare against a $280 hotel room in Tokyo? Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. However sometimes it is possible to book strikingly cheap hotel rooms. On one of my recent trips to Tokyo I booked a hotel room for only $50 per night in a business hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo. One week after that I visited Tokyo again, but this time I stayed in a much more expensive hotel, for $280 per night. Let's see if they are any different and if it's worth it to pay $280 vs $50 per night for a hotel room in Tokyo, Japan. Japan’s secret underground Imperial Headquarters Unbeknown to many, Japan had decided to build a secret underground shelter into the Japanese alps during world war 2. It was supposed to house a the Japanese ministries, NHK and even the emperor. Even though it was never used, about 75 percent of the tunnels had been finished by the time Japan surrendered in August 1945. Japan's best Soba noodles

12:43
Shrines, Ninjas and Japan’s best Soba Noodles – What else could you possibly expect from a day trip in Japan? The small mountain village Togakushi lies in Nagano prefecture, about an hour’s bus ride from Nagano station. It’s famous for three things: Its shrines, its school of ninjutsu and its soba noodles. The three shrines I visited for this video are most famous ones, Hokosha (the lower shrine), Chusha (the middle shrine) and Okusha (the upper shrine). The Ninjutsu school is called Togakure ryu ninpo, which claims to be the oldest recorded form of Ninjutsu. Its current day Soke is Masaaki Hatsumi. More info on then folklore/ninpo museum plus ninja house I visited can be found here: https://goo.gl/hNvRho. The entrance fee is ¥600 for adults. The soba restaurant I visited is Uzuraya, which also tops trip advisor’s list for restaurants in Nagano: https://goo.gl/WUdQgR. The price for Ten Zaru Soba (the meal I had) is ¥1,800 (about $18). Hilarious Japanese apartment names

05:38
Japanese apartment buildings have names. And despite the overall English level in Japan being rather low, it is the language of choice. This combination then creates some pretty unexpected and often hilarious names. Please note that most of the names are written in Katakana, a Japanese writing system that is used for the transcription of foreign words. When this was the case, I have translated the names.
