This is a super quick easy to make maxi dress. The bodice is "made" from a ready made T-shirt or top. I used one of the tops from this video: http://youtu.be/glNcSoQzcuI You can wear it as is or change it up and add some definition to the waist by putting on a belt. I made a quick belt from the left overs from the turtleneck to jewel neck top video. This is just the first of several variations on this type of dress that I will be showing you on this channel.

In this video I'm going to be sharing how I use panels to "make material." I use this method for making dresses, skirt and other clothing when the original garment doesn't have enough material. I'll be uploading a video tomorrow, by God's grace, and it will actually show you how to make the 5 basic paneled skirts that I'll be using on this channel. If I have time, I MAY draft those basic skirts in sizes S - 2XL and post the template with the video.

Here's how to create and sew a lined zipper pouch completely by hand. In this tutorial you will learn how to create the zipper pouch pattern, put in the zipper and sew it together. You can use the same instructions to make a zipper pouch with a sewing machine. I actually made this by hand it it took me about an hour and a half and that with stopping at every step to take a bunch of pictures. I think you could realistically make one of these in 30 - 45 minutes depending on how big you want your finished pouch to be. If you are making a change purse you could do it in 15 - 20 minutes.

Some times it seems impossible to find a top that isn't breast baring low or a turtle neck. It's easier to take away material than to add. So, here's a quick tutorial to show you how to get a modest jewel neckline by turning a turtleneck into a jewel neck. The process is quick too. I made three of these things and took the pictures for the video all in about an hour :) If you wanted a different shaped neckline you could change it before you folded over the edge.

This is the first part in a two part series showing you how to turn a sweat suit in to a maxi-length skirt suit with a long ruffled skirt and a matching tunic top. For this project you'll need a sweat shirt that's a few sizes too big for you and some matching materiel. I'm using a piece of a pants leg of the same color. In this video I'll be showing you how to make a four panel maxi length skirt from two pairs of sweat pants. I posted a video before that used 1 1/2 pair of sweat pants but there seems to have been a lot of confusion so this is a simpler version. Here's the link to the video on how to make a panel for a skirt: http://youtu.be/laYtCsN5c2U Here is where I talk about the concept of making fabric using panels: http://youtu.be/dN12oIJHluU Here is the original video on making a skirt from sweat pants http://youtu.be/F_qyKBhW8yE

In this video I'm going to be showing you how to make and use panels (gores) to "create fabric" for upcycled skirts. I'll be showing you step by step how to fillout the handout so that you can draft a pattern for a Aline skirt, a 4 panel skirt, a six panel skirt, a 8 panel skirt, and a 12 panel skirt. This is kind of a foundation video as I'll be referring back to it a lot in the future.

Note to Subscribers below: In this video I'll be showing you how to make comfortable leggings for layering under long skirts and dresses. This is "method 1" because if found a simpler way to sew them together and I'll be posting that video in a day or so. But in this video you'll see how to put the free pattern (see below) together as well as how to put in the elastic waistband and sew the cuff. Here's the link to the free PDF pattern. http://consciouslymodest.com/handouts/LayeringLegginsPattern.pdf Music: "Clean Air" by Kevin MacLeod Note to subscribers, I apologize for all the disappearing videos. YouTube is cracking down on copyright infringement in music, which is good, but they seem to be catching videos that are using music that is not in violation of copyright laws. Some of the music that I've purchased for use in videos seems to have triggered the system so I have to take down the videos, change out the music and reupload. Again I'm sorry for all the reuploading. All the best, Amy

In this video I'll be showing you another way to a make an upcycled jean skirt. Ever since i came across this article about how men eyes have a tendency to stare at the crotch area I started to pay attention to how I design my upcycled skirts. See this study: http://boingboing.net/2007/03/14/men-stare-at-crotche.html http://www.ojr.org/ojr/stories/070312ruel/ Combine that with the fact that our eyes natural follow arrows, I had to stop making the regular fill in the space jeans skirts. So this is the second skirt in my series of skirts that are upcycled with out arrows :)

In this video i'm going to be showing you how make a rice therapy bag with a washable cover by hand. Grain therapy bags are great for soothing tired and achy muscles. You can heat them in the microwave for a hot pack. Or you can store them in the freeze for soothing bumps and bruises. I used wheat instead of rice because the only rice I have at the moment was expensive specialty brown rice. The wheat was cheaper. I also used peppermint and chamomile tea leaves from herbal tea bags because I don't have any essential oils. With a little tweaking you could make these in a wide variety of sizes and shapes. These would make great gifts. Just change up the fabric to suit the person you're giving it to. Drawstring pouches are super useful. Make the small to hold coins or trinkets, a litte larger for shoe protectors and make them really big for laundry bags. Make them and use them instead of gift wrap for presents! Once you see how easier they are to make, the sky is the limit to what you'll come up with!

In this video I'm going to show you how to neatly rip apart seams almost as fast as you can unzip a jacket. In modest clothing reconstruction you are looking to make material stretch further. Sometimes you can get away with just cutting the seams to take a garment a part. Other times you may need all the material including the material in the seam allowances.

In this video I'll be showing you how to make a long-sleeved mulit-wrap cardigan. I used some of the left over bed sheet that I had from the reversible maxi dress video. But you could easily do this using 60" fabric. You would need about 1 1/4 yards of fabric. These cardigans have been popular for a while. This is really a useful addition to your wardrobe as it can be worn in a variety of different ways. I just showed a few of the ways that I could be wrapped. You can get other ideas by doing a search for how to wrap the DKNY Cozy cardigan, the Origami by Lilla P. and wrap cardigan.
