Australia the First four Billion years - Strange creatures
Australia: First 4 Billion Years 4 Strange Creatures In the wake of the catastrophic asteroid impact believed to have wiped out the dinosaurs, Australia was set adrift on a lonely voyage across southern seas. With host Richard Smith, NOVA travels the walkabout continent to uncover how it became the strange land it is today. In this final episode, "Strange Creatures," NOVA traces the last 65 million years, revealing the events that shaped the Australia we know today. Prehistoric jungles retreated, replaced by eucalypt forests, grasslands, and deserts. When humans first arrived, giant marsupials dominated the land and the Great Barrier Reef was yet to form. This is a tale of calamity and conquest; how a conspiracy of climate, biology, and geology shaped the Earth we now call home. Australia Is Home to Giant Pink Slugs
Visitors and residents in New South Wales, Australia who venture to the peak of Mount Kaputar get to witness giant, pink slugs. Slugs are known to be slow-moving, slimy and a little creepy. The ones we usually see in our yards are small in size. However visitors and residents in New South Wales, Australia who venture to the peak of Mount Kaputar get to witness a completely different kind of slug. To put it simply, the creatures are terrifying. The massive, bright pink mollusks were recently identified. A ranger with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, named Michael Murphy stated "Giant pink slugs are about 20 centimeters long, only found on top of Mount Kaputar. On a good morning, you can walk around and see hundreds of them, but only in that one area. As bright pink as you can imagine, that's how pink they are." He claimed that the mountaintop environment is pristine for the slugs, giving them plenty of mold and moss to feed on due to the ample damp forestry. This particular area is known to have some other creepy crawlers. Numerous cannibalistic snails also reside on the mountaintop.

Deadly Sea Creature - Blue Angel
This strange sea creature is the Glaucus Atlanticus also known as the blue angel, blue dragon and blue sea slug is a marine gastropod mollusk. This tiny animal species is quite the predator. You will find this colorful family member of sea slugs in temperate and tropical waters. Regions include the East and South coast of South Africa, European waters, off the East coast of Australia and Mozambique. Quite tiny, the species normal size is up to 3cm, but it does feed on larger prey like the venomous Portuguese man of war consuming the organism in its entirety. The blue angel is immune to the man of wars venom, collecting it for its own use, using a much more concentrated venom, its sting is more powerful and deadly than the man o war. The poison is stored inside the finger like structures sticking out of its body known as cerata, this is just one of its defense mechanisms. The beautiful blue underside of the blue angel acts as a camouflage from air born predators as it floats upside down on the surface of the water. Its back is grayish in color and faces downward, camouflaging it from predators looking up from below the water. The Blue angel is a hermaphrodite allowing both slugs to produce egg strings after mating which they lay on driftwood, or the skeletons of their victims. There is so much more to learn about this intriguing creature, but we do know that While they are beautiful to behold, they are dangerous to actually hold. Australia the First four Billion years - Monsters
Australia: First 4 Billion Years 3 - Monsters "Monsters" begins Down Under at the dawn of the Age of Dinosaurs. Host Richard Smith comes face-to-face with the previously unknown reptilian rulers of prehistoric Australia. NOVA resurrects the giants that stalked the Great Southern Land and discovers that some of these animals were among the largest ever to have walked the Earth. Others were some of the most dangerous. In the dry desert heart, scientists unearth an ancient inland ocean full of sea monsters. Opal fossils of some of these beasts paint a colorful picture of the exotic seascape, where long-necked plesiosaurs snacked on shelled creatures that grew as large as truck tires. The most fearsome was Kronosaurus, with a skull twice as long as T. rex. But reptiles didn't have the world all to themselves. Mammals like the enigmatic platypus lived alongside them, ready for their moment in the sun. It's not an Alien! Meet the Horseshoe Crab
Rumors of an alien creature killed in Chelyabinsk Russia spread all over the news. It was no alien but a horseshoe crab, a prehistoric living fossil. This strange animal is next on the 50 strangest animal series. The horseshoe crab, sometimes called the sea spider, is a marine arthropod that lives in muddy waters near the shallow beaches in the ocean. Looking just like something out of an alien movie, this crab is often mistaken for something from another world as pictures of this animal all over the internet are labeled with alien tags. Giant Spider! World's Biggest Spider Giant Huntsman Spider
Worlds Largest Spider! The Giant huntsman spider is huge, but not deadly to humans. Biggest in the world, the Giant Huntsman Spider was just recently discovered in 2001 in a Cave in Laos. Their torso averages about 2 inches long but it's their leg-span which earn them the title as the biggest spider in the world as they can extend to 12 inches long which is about the size of this dinner plate! (show dinner plate) The Goliath Birdeater is considered the second biggest spider in the world or largest if you classify it by sheer mass. These giant huntsman spiders are often mistaken for tarantulas because of their size, however you can easily tell them apart because of their unique crab-like legs which allow them to move side to side with incredible speed and agility making them lighting fast. Although they can produce silk these spiders don't usually build webs as their name comes from their ability to stalk and hunt down their prey. Have you seen Arachnophobia? Like something out of a horror movie these giant carnivorous spiders jump on and attack their prey injecting venom into their victims liquifying the soft tissues which make their prey easy to ingest. They mainly feed on insects and small invertebrates like lizards but sometimes bigger predators become prey as birds, geckos and other animals that try to attack the huntsman spider end up "instead" becoming the SPIDER's next meal Although a human encounter with one of these fearsome spiders may seem deadly, they're venom is not fatal to humans though their bite is very painful and in addition to some swelling of the skin other effects may include nausea, vomiting and headaches. These spiders only live about 2 years and amazingly they're able to regenerate lost limbs. Since it's discovery, these spiders have been turning up all over the world, with recent reports in Florida and Hawaii. They love to inhabit sheds, garages, other dark isolated places. If you find a giant huntsman spider in your home YOU should get rid of it immediately as the female spiders can lay up to 200 eggs and populate very fast. It's best try to relocated the spider instead of killing it as spiders play an important role in controlling the population of other insects and pests. However caution should be taken as these spiders move very quickly and will be difficult to catch and if dealing with a mother spider guarding her eggs she may become extremely aggressive toward you and because if this it might be best to hire an exterminator to handle the removal process. World's Biggest Crab - Japanese Spider Crab
The largest crab in the world is the giant Japanese Spider Crab. This giant crab can be found In Suruga Bay off of the coast of Japan. This species of marine crab named the Japanese Spider Crab that has the largest leg span of any arthropod known to exist. Its body can measure up to 16 inches across, and up to 12 feet from claw to claw, with the whole crab weighing up to 40 pounds.Imposing in size, and ferocious in appearance, the crab has been reported to have a gentle disposition. With an orange body, and white spots on its legs the Japanese spider crab may appear similar to other crabs, but it differs in a few notable ways. In the male crab, the first pleopods, also known as swimming legs are unusually twisted and its larvae have been described as primitive. The male Japanese Spider Crab can easily be distinguished from its female counterpart due to having have much longer chelipeds. The crab can be found in depths from 50 feet up to 2000ft feeding on shellfish and animal carcasses and may live up to 100 years. They are primarily found in Suruga Bay, and while only occasionally collected for food, their numbers are dwindling, forcing fishermen into deeper waters to find them. 10 of the MOST AMAZING SEA CREATURES ever discovered!
10 of the MOST AMAZING SEA CREATURES ever discovered! 10. RED-LIPPED BATFISH: Found around the Galapagos Islands, this unusual fish is not very good at swimming... ...it instead uses its unique fins to walk the ocean floor. And it has an ingenious spine-like projection on its back to lure prey, and uses a battering-ram like structure on its head to attack. 9. CHRISTMAS TREE WORMS: Each worm has two brightly coloured tree-like crowns that protrude from its tubular body. The incredible network of "leaves" radiate from the worms central spine... ...and are used for respiration and for catching food. Most of the worms body is actually not visible, as they are burrowed down and anchored into coral -- and will quickly retract into their bores when threatened. 8. GIANT OARFISH: The world's longest bony fish, reaching a recorded length of 36 feet... It is thought likely to be the source of worldwide "sea-serpent" stories. It's organs are concentrated toward the head end of it's body... Possibly allowing it to survive losing large segments of its tail. Inhabiting the mesopelagic layer, it is thought capable of diving as deep as 1000 meters (3,300 ft)." 7. LEAFY SEADRAGON: A masterfully camouflaged fish, the leafy seadragon is found off the southern coast of Australia. As well as being ingeniously camouflaged, these exquisite creatures employ a subtle means of propulsion...using their two near transparent fins to maintain the illusion of floating seaweed. 6. FIREFLY SQUID: These amazing creatures are capable of bioluminescence... that means they can produce their own light via an organ in each tentacle called a photo-sphore. During the day they live at depths of several hundred meters, but at night they return to the surface, and in numbers they can produce an incredible sea of blue light. They are also capable of "counter-illumination" which makes it very difficult for a predator to spot them from below. 5. Pink Sea-Through Fantasia: This rare translucent animal lives in the Celebes Sea of the western Pacific Ocean. Sometimes mistaken for a jelly-fish, this cleverly mobile sea-cucumber is capable of navigating safely around prey while travelling upwards of 3000 feet form the seabed in search of food. 4. Sarcastic Fringehead: This notoriously ferocious and territorially aggressive fish... ...is known to wrestle with other fringeheads; pressing their over-sized mouths against each other in an attempt to establish dominance. 3. BARRELEYE: These fish are named for their huge, telescoping barrel-shaped eyes which are located inside a protective transparent dome of soft tissue. Their acutely light sensitive binocular eyes, which can be directed forward, are generally directed upwards and are capable of detecting the silhouettes of potential food sources from vast distances. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimic_octopus 2. MIMIC OCTOPUS: The mimic octopus is a remarkable species of octopus capable of impersonating an array of other sea animals. Not only can it change skin pattern and color to suit its background, as other cephalopods can, the Mimic octopus can shape shift to an extraordinary degree... Both as a means of tricking unsuspecting prey. And by fooling potential predators -- "by discerning and impersonating the sea creature that will present the greatest threat to its current possible predator." 1. PEACOCK MANTIS SHRIMP: Forget Mike Tyson or Rocky Marciano, for pound-for-pound power nothing comes close to this shrimpy super-boxer. The 4-6 inch mantis shrimp has the fastest punch in the known universe! ***THE MUSIC*** -- called "Energetic Psychedelic Electronica" -- is from Ultrasonic: http://www.audiomicro.com/energetic-psychedelic-electronica-royalty-free-stock-music-1005207

World's Largest Bat - Flying Fox
This giant monster bat creature is the grey headed flying fox and is the largest bat found in Australia. This megabat, or fruit bat has a dark grey body, light grey head and reddish brown fur for a collar. Because this bat does not echolocate, it must rely on its large eyes to locate its food of nectar, pollen and fruit. It has an average wingspan up to 3.5 feet and can weigh up to 2.5 lbs. The bat can be found in it's habitat which includes rainforests, woodlands and swamps. During the day you will find them roosting in colonies of hundreds to thousands in a variety of locations including at one time the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. Partially migrant depending upon the direction that will be most beneficial at the time, they use winds to travel long distances. During mating season, the neck glands of the males enlarge to mark homes which will be defended aggressively. Females give birth, usually once a year between September and November. The young will cling to their mothers for the first three weeks, but within 6 months are flying on their own and fully weaned. in 1999, Australian federal law classified them as vulnerable to extinction, and their roosts are now protected across the country. Giant One-Armed Crocodile - Brutus
His name is Brutus. And this massive 16.5 foot, or 5.5 meter, giant one armed crocodile is who people hope to see when they take one of the popular jumping crocodile tours on the Adelaide river in Australia's northern territory. Brutus is definitely a rarity. 70 is very old for a crocodile, Brutus, is thought to be up to 80 years old. He is also missing his front right leg, thought to have been bitten of by a shark when he was younger. And, even with just his head above the water, you can still tell it's Brutus because of his several missing teeth, another rarity, since crocodiles normally grow new teeth to replace old or lost ones. When pictures of Brutus were posted on the internet earlier this year and many thought they were photo-shopped, but tour guides like Harry Bowman attests that Brutus is very real, and, not even the largest croc on the river. At half meter longer, that honor goes to a croc nicknamed Barabas. Apparently both croc can be occasionally seen on the river though the two have been seen fighting, so the tour boats try to keep them apart. So according to Harry and contrary to rumor the massive croc Brutus and his slightly larger sparring partner Barabus, are very real. World's Biggest Shark EVER! Megalodon
The biggest shark to have EVER lived, is the Megalodon, a giant prehistoric shark and a legendary killer. Megalodon monster shark lives? 11 Biggest Sharks Caught https://youtu.be/xFzT3uf4p2g 9 ft Shark Eaten by Unknown Sea Creature http://youtu.be/RKyn6dEMHKA It's name is Greek word meaning "Big Tooth". This giant mega shark is as one of the largest and most powerful attacking apex predators in the history of our planet. Having been extinct for millions of years, The Megalodon has influenced pop culture as photos and drawings of this legendary shark continue to appear all over web with some websites and blogs dedicated to it. Fossils indicate that the Megalodon Shark reached lengths of almost 70 feet, 20 meters long and was much wider and stockier than your typical great white shark believed to have weighed almost 100 tons. Blue Whales being slightly bigger can weigh over 100 tons. The teeth of the Megalodon are gigantic, some found to be over 7 inches long. These tooth fossils have been discovered all over the world and at one point were believed to be petrified tongues of dragons & giant snakes. The shark bite of the Megalodon is the sea creature's most impressive features as scientist estimate it's chomp to have created up to 18 tons of force, compared to that of a great white's bite which is less than 2 tons of force. With that kind of biting pressure the Megalodon could crush a whales skull as easily as a human child would bite into a grape making it the most powerful bite of any creature in history. The Megalodon's closest living relative is the Great White Shark and although they have many similarities, their hunting patterns proved to be different. Great white sharks tend to attack the under belly or soft spot of their victims for a quick kill as the Megalodon's attacked with it's massive biting force to rip off the fins of other large fish before going in for the final kill. A sea monster as deadly and powerful as the Megalodon dominated the oceans for millions of years, however no one knows why exactly they became extinct. Was it global warming...A lack of food sources, or is it possible they still exists somewhere beyond our reach deep within the ocean depths. Unidentified creature found on beach. This strange unknown sea monster washed ashore on an unknown beach. What is this strange animal? This picture was sent to us by Freelee and we are now sure what this dead animal is that she found here. Little is known about the origins of this image or what this unidentified sea monster could be. After searching the web, we believe that it has similarities to that of an oarfish, an ocean species that is often mistaken for sea monsters when they are found dead every year. Is this just an oar-fish or could this be a new species of sea life that was just discovered? Exploring Mysterious and Enigmatic Belize Great Blue Hole
Ramon Llaneza diving rebreather explore stargate the entrance to alien underworld in Belize and Bahamas. Watch more details about this exploration at https://youtu.be/mh49kkENw_Q . The Mysterious Belize Great Blue Hole is a large underwater hole off the coast of Belize. It lies near the center of Lighthouse Reef, a small atoll 100 kilometers (62 mi) from the mainland and Belize City. The hole is perfectly circular in shape, over 300 meters (1000 ft) across (diameter), 3140 feet circumference and 125 meters (410 ft) deep. It was formed as a limestone cave system during the last glacial period when the sea level was 400 to 500 feet below present time and was dry land. Last glacial period began about 120,000 years ago and end about 15,000 years ago. Reaching the maximum extension 26,500 years ago. At the end the ocean began to rise, the caves flooded, and the roof collapsed. Believed to be the world's largest feature of its kind, the Great Blue Hole is part of the larger Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, a World Heritage site of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The hole itself is the opening to a system of caves and passageway that penetrate this undersea mountain. In various places, massive limestone stalactites hang down from what was once the ceiling of air-filled caves thousand of years before the end of the last Ice Age 15,000 years ago. When the ice melted the sea level rose, flooding the caves. This process occurred in stages. Evidence for this are the shelves and ledges, carved into the limestone by the sea, which run the complete interior circumference of the Blue Hole at various depths. The Blue Hole is a "karst- eroded sinkhole." It was once a cave at the center of an underground tunnel complex whose ceiling collapsed. Some of the tunnels are thought to be linked right through to the mainland, though this has never been conclusively proved. Notable are the large population of sharks such as lemon, black tip, reef, hammerhead, and bull sharks. Mysterious and legends always have been around the Belize Blue Hole. This was the entrance to Xibalba?. It's the kind of underwater geology that inspires speculation about aliens creating geometrically perfect anomalies, mermaids and monsters living in darkness. I explored the bottom of the Blue Hole perimeter (3,140 feet circumference). To do this I dove down twice, reaching the depth of 375' feet which took 4 to 5 hours of diving each day. The Truth about Sea Monsters and Unknown Marine Creatures english documentary Part 1
Sea monsters are sea-dwelling mythical or legendary creatures, often believed to be of immense size. Marine monsters can take many forms, including sea dragons, sea serpents, or multi-armed beasts. They can be slimy or scaly and are often pictured threatening ships or spouting jets of water. The definition of a "monster" is subjective, and some sea monsters may have been based on scientifically accepted creatures such as whales and types of giant and colossal squid.

700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human. This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn't take long to find out that the STORY behind it... was fake, just another hoax. While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it's skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved. This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it's misery and buried it. It's sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was. I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook Let's Connect -- http://www.facebook.com/epicadamwildlife -- http://gplus.to/epicwildlife -- http://www.twitter.com/epicwildlife -- http://www.pinterest.com/epicwildlife -- http://www.epicadamwildlife.com Other Epic Wildlife Snake Videos. -- Diver Discovers Giant Anaconda http://youtu.be/yfdCiwzhNN0 -- Man Eaten by Giant Snake http://goo.gl/9jnuA -- Titanoboa Prehistoric Snake http://youtu.be/y-beIb6rUTA -- World's Deadliest Snake http://youtu.be/LFu1u6Ca2EQ Royalty Free Music & Sound www.freesfx.co.uk "East of Tunisia" by Kevin McLeod

Giant pink slugs on mountains in Australia
Giant fluorescent pink slugs found on mountains in Australia - 05-30-2013 Park rangers in New South Wales, Australia, have seen dozens of giant, fluorescent pink slugs popping up on a mountaintop there. "As bright pink as you can imagine, that's how pink they are," Michael Murphy, a ranger with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "On a good morning, you can walk around and see hundreds of them." The eight-inch creatures have been spotted only on Mount Kaputar, a 5,000-foot peak in the Nandewar Range in northern New South Wales. Scientists believe the eye-catching organisms are survivors from an era when Australia was home to rainforests. A series of volcanoes, millions of years of erosion and other geological changes "have carved a dramatic landscape at Mount Kaputar," the park service wrote on its Facebook page, and unique arid conditions spared the slugs from extinction. They "probably would have long since vanished, if a volcano had not erupted at Mount Kaputar about 17 million years ago," Ben Cubby wrote in the Sydney Morning Herald. "The result of that eruption is a high-altitude haven for invertebrates and plant species that have been isolated for millions of years, after Australia dried out and the rainforests receded." And they're not the only unusual inhabitants on the mountain. "We've actually got three species of cannibal snail on Mount Kaputar, and they're voracious little fellas," Murphy said. "They hunt around on the forest floor to pick up the slime trail of another snail, then hunt it down and gobble it up."

Manta ray, a giant of the ocean
Swimming next to a manta ray is a great privilege, because she is one of the giants of the ocean, the manta rays can measure eight meters and weigh 1400 kilograms, recently we learned that they are family of sharks. We know very little about the manta ray, they are a mystery, because they can't live in an aquarium. The greatest danger to the manta ray is the fishing harpoon. But the manta rays are still a really mistery.

Bull Shark vs Crocodile Attack
Bull shark attacked, killed & eaten by a Huge Saltwater Crocodile. Among the Deadliest Animals in the World, the crocodile enjoys shark for dinner. But which animal is more deadly, a shark or a crocodile? We are going to look at the facts of each animal and then you guys can decide which one is more dangerous overall. The topic came up when these photos appeared online from Australia as a tourist witnessed a saltwater crocodile getting the best of a bullshark in the East Alligator River in Kakadu National Park Both of these fearless predators are unique because they can live in both Salt and Freshwater. The saltwater crocodile obviously won this battle, but does that mean that saltwater crocodiles are more deadly than the bull-shark? Let's compare SIZE! Nile Crocodile & the Saltwater Crocodile are the biggest and most dangerous of their respected species. With the Saltie being the Biggest of All Reptiles with a maximum size believed to be 23 feet and 4,000 pounds. The record for the biggest crocodile in the world was Lolong, (RIP) at 21 feet, 2300 pounds. Of the 500 shark species, only about 10 are really any threat to humans. The great white being the biggest and most powerful with tales in history claiming a great white being 37 feet long and over 10,000 pounds, however 24 feet and 5,000+ pounds may be close to the truth. Attacks on Humans? Every year, there about 100 shark attacks on people with less than 15 deaths worldwide. Crocodiles however, killed an average of 2,500 people every year, making them 167 times more dangerous than sharks. So that makes the crocodile much more dangerous to humans... but the question is... if you take the biggest baddest Great White Shark vs the Biggest Baddest Saltwater Crocodile... Who would win in a fight?
