Mystery Sea Creature With No Eyes Found On Beach In Australia
The puzzling remains of an unidentified sea creature were discovered on the shore of an Australian beach over the weekend by a woman walking her dog. Sherry Simmons initially thought that the revolting blob was merely a big piece of driftwood until she and her bulldog Tank got closer and realized that it was a carcass. Despite feeling uneasy about the weird sight in front of her, Simmons decided to poke the oddity with a stick and reported that it was "soft to the touch." See a new "real or fake" everyday on my Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/billschannel Watch the original Hollywood Scotty video "Cthulhu Attacks Chicago" here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkcDoUE8_Ec THE BLOOP VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJq9RZqbzLI Cthulhu is a cosmic entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft and first introduced in the short story "The Call of Cthulhu", published in the American pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928. Wikipedia. Also in this show, we have video claiming to show a fish that likes to play fetch, a crazy picture of a deep water sea creature, the tallest cat in the world, and a cat that likes to swing it's legs. MORE ABOUT THE CTHULHU Considered a Great Old One within the pantheon of Lovecraftian cosmic entities, the creature has since been featured in numerous popular culture references. Lovecraft depicts Cthulhu as a gigantic entity worshipped by cultists. Cthulhu's appearance is described as looking like an octopus, a dragon, and a caricature of human form. Its name was given to the Lovecraft-inspired universe where it and its fellow entities existed, the Cthulhu Mythos. Serval Cat Chimerea fish fish plays fetch cat swings legs In 2006, Bethesda Softworks together with Ubisoft and 2K Games published a game made by Headfirst Productions called Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth based on the works of Lovecraft. Cthulhu himself does not appear, as the main antagonists of the game are the Deep Ones from The Shadow Over Innsmouth, and the sea god Dagon, but his presence is alluded to several times, and a statue depicting him appears in one of the temples that will negatively affect the player's sanity. One of Cthulhu's "chosen", a Star Spawn of Cthulhu, a hideous creature similar in appearance to the abomination himself, also appears as a late-game enemy. Cthulhu appears as a monster in many video games. Terraria features bosses named after the character, and he appears as main inspiration for the story of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies saga. The massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft have numerous references to Cthulhu and the Mythos, with one of the game's "Old Gods" named C'Thun resting in a sunken city. In 2016, Z-Man games released an alternate version of their board game Pandemic. This new adaptation Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu is set in the Cthulhu Mythos and explorers race to save the world before Cthulhu returns.

Shocking fight, between a giraffe and a lion in the plains of Africa, most would assume that the giraffe would be defeated easily by the king of the jungle. However, this is no jungle and the giraffe manages to use its long legs and high jumps to stomp the lion repeatedly, causing the giraffe to win the fight. In this amazing video, two rather small but deadly animals go head to head. The cobra and mongoose take shots at each other respectively. Until the mongoose gets a firm bite on the head of the poisonous snake, and making itself the unexpected winner. In this fight in the Australian outback, a giant snake and a crocodile take each other on. At first the crocodile grabs the snake between its teeth. The python snake then coils itself around the crocodile, and strangling it. The fight lasted for hours, but the snake emerges victorious. In this shocking fight, a jaguar slowly emerges behind an exacting crocodile in the wetlands of Brazil. The jaguar sinks it teeth into the back of the crocodile in order to constrict the crocodile. The jaguar then carries off its prey, after the destruction it has just caused to the crocodile. In this video, a cobra snake has just discovered a nest of mongooses. As it plots to sliver in, a mongoose uses a tunnel to sneak up behind the snake a strike. The mongoose bites the snake in the head and they begin attacking each other. The snake then wraps up the mongoose in an attempt to strangle it. However, the mongoose frees itself, and begins to take painful bites at the cobra, eventually killing it. In this video, a shark is peacefully swimming through ocean territory. However, it’s swim is interrupted when an octopus disguised as coral rises up and wraps its tentacles around the shark. The giant pacific octopus was able to easily defeat the shark in this unlikely match up, despite the octopus being far lower down in the food chain. During this animal fight between an hyena and a pack of lions, the hyena uses their amazing dexterity to run quickly away from the lion pack. However, the hyena was soon caught up to by the pack, as they surround it and begin to bite it. In this unlikely match-up, a cobra and an eagle to head to head. The eagle tries to use its size to stand and peck at the cobra. But the cobra fights back attempting to bite back. However, on one bite when the cobra’s mouth is open, the eagle strikes and bites the cobra in the mouth. In this wild battle, recorded deep in the jungle a tiger and a huge lion go head to head. The pair spend hours wrestling and biting one another to see who the real king of the jungle is. When suddenly the tiger rolls over in defeat, after hours of fighting with the massive lion. In this shocking piece of footage from South Africa, a lion who is attacking a buffalo is suddenly changed at by 2 other buffalos. The lion is the launched 4 meters into the air by the giant male buffalo. The animals scuffled for a little while longer, but all walked away with no major injuries. Despite this, we think it’s pretty safe to say that the buffalo won this round. AMAZING Recently Discovered Species
You’d think by now we’ve done a pretty good job at cataloguing all of the species in the world, but we’re far from done! Scientists believe there are around 8.7 million species in the world, with between 1 and 2 million of those being animals. And it’s thought the vast majority have not even been documented yet. 2017 saw a number of fascinating new discoveries, and we’ll touch on some of them today. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10 - Not for human consumption… Don’t let the name Churro mislead you, there is nothing tasty about this new marine worm that was discovered in the Gulf of California in 2017. They’ve called it Churro because of the striking resemblance to a Churro, the delicious fried-dough pastry dessert that is dipped into sweet sauces. This worm is between 4 and 10 inches and feeds off molluscs like clams. 9 - Feeling Blue... I would be too if faced with this bright blue tarantula that was discovered in Guyana. It doesn’t even have a name yet, that’s how new it is! It was spotted by Andrew Snyder, who says his flashlight bounced off something very blue, which he thought was just a reflection. When he went closer, he was really surprised to see the bright blue legs of the spider. Firstly, this is the first blue tarantula found in South America, as they’re usually found in Southeast Asia, and secondly, this one was living in a colony, which is very unusual for spiders. 8 - 5 a day… If you’re brave, you can add this bizarre fruit to yours! It’s the obscure relative of the tomato, and it was discovered in Australia. This fruit has been known to botanists for 50 years already, but it was only described officially in 2017. 7th graders helped name this weird fruit the deathly fruit, and when cut open, the flesh of the fruit changes from whitish green to blood red and then matures into a dry, white bony state. The fruit looks very unappetising, and I doubt it’s going to be flying off the shelves anytime soon! 7 - Blooming marvellous… A new species of orchid was found last year, called the devil orchid aka Telipogon diabolicus. This orchid is a fusion of male and female flower parts and as you can see, looks a lot like the head of the devil! This plant is only found in a certain area of Columbia, which is currently threatened by reconstruction. 6 - Now you see me… Now you don’t! You’re aware of how lizards drop their tails in order to escape a predator, but this newly discovered gecko takes things a little further. This creature is covered with overlapping scales, and when it’s in trouble, has the ability to shed those scales and make a quick, naked getaway. Within a few weeks, those scales have grown back and the gecko is ready for action once again. 5 - Down Under… We head down 13,000 feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean to meet a new species of sponge that was confirmed in 2017. Plenaster craigi have been found in 2013 and 2015, and it was just last year that it was confirmed as an official new species. It was discovered in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone, and live on metal-rich nodules that are common in that area. 4 - Look familiar? Pictured here is the Arcella gandalfi, and if you’ve watched Lord of the Rings, you’ll know why it got that name. These freshwater amoebas were rumoured to exist in Brazil, but they’ve only recently been discovered and confirmed to be real. Considering they’re a single cell organism, these amoeba’s are quite big, measuring 81 micrometers in diameter and 71 micrometers in height. 3 - Pretty in Pink… This is the Pink Floyd pistol shrimp, a new species of snapping shrimp found in the waters off the Pacific coast of Panama. Pink Floyd happened to be one of the favourite bands of the scientists who discovered it. As if the neon pink claw wasn’t strange enough, this crazy shrimp can kill its prey with noise! The snap of that giant claw is loud and powerful that it creates cavitation bubbles, which then burst into the prey, either stunning them or killing them. The sound reaches levels of 210 decibels, which is louder than a gunshot! 2 - No lazing around… An ancient giant sloth fossil was also found in 2017, hidden in an underwater cave in the jungle of the Yucatán in Mexico. This area is not known for many fossil finds, because the humid environment tends to destroy any traces of bones. Vicente Fito went diving in a limestone cave in 2009 where he made this remarkable discovery. He gave the bones to the National Institute of Anthropology and History in Mexico, where they’ve spent all this time piecing everything together. This new species of sloth is thought to weigh around 500-pounds! Apparently the oldest sloth fossil ever found is roughly 9 million years old, and was found in Argentina. 1...

10 Sea Monsters ATTACKING A Boat!
Check out these 10 sea monsters attacking a boat! This top 10 list of ocean creatures like whales and great white sharks attacking a ship shows some bizarre stories caught on camera! Great White Shark If you’ve been on a boat out on the ocean, a Jaws attack has probably crossed your mind. Even if it’s just barely!! Then of course you rationalize that the chances of that happening are practically 0. Practically. That’s what Terry Selwood, a 73-year-old Australian fisherman learned in 2017, when a great white shark leapt out of the water, into his boat!! 9. An Eagle Ray Rays seem like beautiful, serene creatures - but they can be extremely dangerous, even if you’re on the relative safety of a large tourist boat. In 2011, Jenny Hausch had rented a 26-foot catamaran for her family to take a trip in Florida. Sounds really nice right? 8. Swordfish In 2017, Alan Pope, a British tourist, was on a boat trip getting ready to go snorkeling in Indonesia when everything went horribly wrong. Without any warning, a swordfish jumped out of the water and into the boat, and impaled his neck with its bill. The end snapped off, and left six inches of the sword still jabbed inside his neck, just millimeters from instantly killing him. 7. Sperm Whales The Gulf of Alaska is a prime fishing location, especially for those trying to catch black cod. In these waters, though, there is a much larger creature that also likes eating the fish- sperm whales. They are the ocean’s largest toothed predators, and while they are quite capable of catching food for themselves, they much prefer taking the easy route. 6. Giant Squid Mostly creatures of legend, giant squids are mentioned in many old mariners tales of dangers at sea. But they are rarely seen, let alone involved in attacking boats. So when a team of French sailors came face to face with one in 2003, they almost didn’t believe it!! 5. Bull Shark You might think that a great white shark would be the most problematic shark species to boats, but there’s another type that can be more aggressive, and more likely to risk an encounter. 4. Jellyfish Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can have the biggest effect, something that became ever so apparent in 2017 when Chinese scientists were investigating why their aircraft carriers were experiencing difficulties. They found that large swarms of Jellyfish were getting caught up in the propulsion systems! This would stop the ships dead in their tracks, or cause the engines to overheat and cause extreme damage. 3. Mako Shark This next story took place just last year, 2017 in Long Island, New York. A fishing charter boat was taking guests to the location where they find the widest variety of fish, when suddenly a Mako shark jumped onto the side of the boat. Unfortunately for the fish, it managed to get itself stuck in the handrail of the boat and, despite thrashing about, it couldn’t free itself. 2. Black Marlin Game fishing is a popular pastime for many enthusiasts, but when you’re chasing after some of the largest and most powerful marine creatures on earth, you have to be ready for the unpredictable. Again last year, things went very wrong indeed for a fishing boat off the coast of Panama. They had caught a black marlin, a species that can weight up to 1500 pounds and reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. 1. Killer Whale If you’ve ever watched a nature documentary that’s featured Killer Whales, you’ll be all too familiar how organised and clever they can be. Pods work together to catch prey, and even tilt ice flows to trap seals. When they turn these skills towards human activity, the results can be frightening. What Lives At The BOTTOM Of The Mariana Trench?
Do you ever wonder what lives at the bottom of the mariana trench? This top 10 list of creepy deep sea monsters has some giant and bizarre creatures that are scary and mysterious! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Creatures Living At The BOTTOM Of The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/Efhjc-Gu508 Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 10. Frilled Shark The frilled shark has been around a long, LONG time. They’re ‘living fossils’, thought to have been swimming around for anywhere between 95 and 300 million years! Also while they were first discovered in approx 1880 they weren’t actually described until 2004 (the same ROV mission as the barreleye fish). This is one predator that really knows how to keep its head down. It lives at a depth of over 5,000 ft (1524 m). 9. Hatchet Fish Okay so if you came face to face with this dude you’d get one hell of a shock right? Meet the deep sea hatchet fish, so called because of its metallic, hatchet-shaped appearance. It can be found 5,000 ft (1,524 m) down. The metal like quality comes from its scales which is just as well because if it weren’t so shiny you’d have trouble seeing it! 8. Seadevil Anglerfish You’ve probably seen this one in the movies. A seadevil anglerfish appeared in Finding Nemo and the image has been used in some high profile shows like The Simpsons. They were first described in 1864 and can live at a depth of over 6,000 feet (1900 m). Like many deep sea species its movements are mysterious to experts and the only one filmed alive was in 2014. 7. Telescope Octopus Some deep sea animals like to take it easy, I mean there’s a lot of pressure down there!! Maybe none more so than the telescope octopus. Living anywhere from 500 - 6,500 ft (150 - 2000 m) below the surface it’s really laid back. In fact that’s literally what it does… lie back and use its eyes to look up for any food swimming by. 6. Benthocodon Usually when you think of a jellyfish you think of a transparent wobbly thing that stings your foot. Well not this one. The benthocodon isn’t transparent. It has a round, red top which is 2 - 3 cm in diameter and it won’t sting you unless you run into it 2,500 ft (762 m) below the surface. You’d have to be pretty crazy to be at that depth and even crazier without any flippers! 5. Barreleye Fish This fish with a transparent head shocked viewers when it appeared on Blue Planet! Also known as a “spookfish” it has a jelly-like forehead that allows it to look up through its skull, giving it greater visibility! Pretty freaky huh? It is a very efficient hunter that can live at a depth of at least 2,600 feet (800 m) and can be anywhere from 15 to 40 cm long. 4. Goblin Shark This shark is one ugly shark, hence why we call it the goblin shark! Of course I wouldn’t say that to its face poor thing! But its sword-like snout and prehistoric appearance makes it truly unique. 3. Zombie Worm Zombie worms, also known as bone-eating worms, were discovered by accident in 2002 when they appeared to be drilling into the skeletons of dead animals like whales and fish. This confused experts because they looked too squishy to be able to drill like that, but that is how they got their name. The answer came later on in 2012. 2. Foraminifera Foraminifera or ‘fora’ are tiny organisms from the ‘protist’ family. They vary between 100 micrometers and around 20 cm. Because many of them are so small and I’m guessing chewy, they are a prime source of food in the Mariana Trench. That’s a shame because there’s a lot more to these little things than meets the eye. 1. Ping Pong Tree Sponge The strangest name on our list is also the nastiest! Sure, Ping Pong Tree Sponge sounds like something out of Spongebob Squarepants and it’s one beautiful-looking life form. But despite this charming exterior this isn’t a thing to be messed with! It lives nearly 9000 ft (2743 m) underwater and if you’re a small creature it spells bad news. What They Found Lying In The Ocean Shouldn't Exist...
What They Found Lying In The Ocean Shouldn't Exist... Description: Hey there everybody, welcome back to your favorite tops list YouTube channel – Top Supreme! I’m your host Matty Willz and today – just like every single day – we’ve prepared a brand new and exciting video for you! We’ll uncover some of the most mysterious creatures underwater – with today’s title What They Found Lying in the Ocean Shouldn’t Exist! Want to become part of the Supreme Team? Make sure to subscribe down below with notifications ON so you don’t miss anything we post each day! Let’s get rollin! 10 New Whale Species? Let’s start things off right here with, what some experts are saying – may be an unknown whale species. This young biology teacher pictured here was absolutely thrilled when he stumbled upon this large aquatic animal that had washed up onto the shore in St George Alaska. They originally thought this to be the corpse of a Baird’s Beaked Whale but based on what he knew of the species something just wasn’t adding up. It isn’t often that humans are able to make observations of a previously undocumented animal, whether it belonged to the land or the sea. It would be pretty special to be a part of breaking this type of news. So far no determination was made as to what it truly was, so right now we’re going to reach out to you guys! 9 That’s a Great Big Grouper Alright moving on to the next clip – how many of you out there would love to do some deep-sea diving? Now I’ve never been, but I hear it’s amazing. I just don’t know how true that would be if you ran into what this these two ran into one day while out trying to have a nice vacation. While doing some spearfishing off the coast of Florida a potential dinner was hanging on the end of the couple’s spear. Then out of nowhere, a dark shadowy figure emerged from the depths and set it’s sight on their catch. This nearly 500 pound gargantuan fish that was not a shark – in fact was a grouper, and the man actually laughed at that fact, probably thinking that he wasn’t in any danger. Until the grouper felt threatened. All of a sudden you can see the big fish turn and face the man – then in a moment ripped his flipper off of his foot before disappearing with the speared fish and the spear. It’s a good thing that grouper didn’t latch on to any toes or else that water woulda turned a different color. 8 Bizarre Alien Like Sea Creature Unknown creatures are a bit of a staple here on Top Supreme, and it always thrills be a bit when I know we’re about to break something brand new to our audience. Also keep in mind that we make no judgements of the video clips that get sent in, we leave it up to you as the judge on whether what you’re witnessing is authenticate, or not. With all that said - this next clip is extremely creepy – so you know you gotta check this out. We’re out somewhere in Australia – so if anyone is watching from that part of the world the please let us know if you’ve ever seen anything like this before. But check it out. This small humanoid creature is laying across the seashore, and nobody has any idea what it is. Check out the greenish coloration running down it’s body – what the heck do you think this could be? At about a minute into the video the creature slowly lifts his head and struggles to move around – then ultimately isn’t able to budge. What do you think this could be? 7 Squid on A So far today we’ve seen a couple creatures on the countdown that scientists and other experts have no idea what to make of – and up next, we definitely don’t have that problem. Let me ask you a question – if you were forced to abandon ship in the middle of the ocean, what is the one animal you wouldn’t want to come across as you’re struggling to maintain your own life in the sea? A whale? A shark? What about this, a great big ol’ squid! Check out this giant squid swimming alongside this fishing boat, that was trying to pull in a large haul. In the video you can see the huge squid swimming right along with the boat, spectating – trying to figure out it’s best way to get to the fishing net. It ultimately is unsuccessful and swims away… hungry, for what it’s worth. 6 Trolls in Thailand 5 ?? 4 ?? 3 ?? 2 ?? 1 ?? Most DANGEROUS Sea Creatures!
Check out the most dangerous sea creatures! This top 10 list of scary deep sea monsters has some of the most terrifying ocean animals you won't believe exist! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "STRANGEST Things Found In The Ocean!" video here: https://youtu.be/XYfqi5VNgac Watch our "STRANGEST Things Found In The Philippines!" video here: https://youtu.be/vwIIeiOhTJ0 Watch our "Most STRANGE Things Found On The Beach!" video here: https://youtu.be/cQjpze_4z5U 8. Titan Triggerfish There's a misconception when swimming in the ocean that it's "obvious" which creatures will attack you and which ones won't. Like the Titan Triggerfish. Take a look at it. What do you think? Looks like a pretty regular fish right? Exactly! Plus, if you do a little research on Triggerfish as a species, they're actually pretty friendly fish, but this one is in a league of its own, and not in a good way. 7. Flower Urchin While some creatures might look like harmless plants, be careful because appearances can be deceiving!! The flower urchin looks like a nice little bouquet of flowers, and it is one of the most frequently encountered sea urchins. Which is not that great because these echinoderms know how to attack when the time is right! 6. Eels Eels are special creatures, and there are many different types of them living underneath the waters. And many you need to be careful of. Some just like to strike, but others, like the Electric Eel, like to just send a shock through your system. The Electric Eel is a creature that can well and truly charge itself up for an attack, and given that you're most likely underwater when you meet this creature, it means the attack is all the more potent. 5. Barracuda Barracuda are pretty recognizable fish. Not only does it get a bad rap because it killed Nemo’s family, but also because of it’s razor sharp teeth and long shiny body. Of all the different types of Barracuda, the Great Barracuda is the most impressive. After all, it has the name "Great" in it. This creature can be up to six feet long, which is pretty menacing on its own, but its trademark is its speed. 4. Pufferfish There are many fish in the oceans that scare people away, but for entirely different reasons. While an eel or a barracuda is a physical threat, a Pufferfish is a threat inside and out. On the outside, the Puffer Fish has plenty of spines, and if threatened, such as when a human approaches it, it'll fill itself with water and even air, to make it look much larger than before. It’s more of a sentence if you try to swallow it, but actually I think it’s kind of cute. 3. Stingray The Stingray is one creature that everyone should fear and respect. While their attacks are rare, they do happen, and like some other creatures on this list, they’re not afraid of attacking when they feel provoked. The most famous case of a Stingray attack was the strike and killing of beloved zookeeper and animal conservationist Steve Irwin, aka the Crocodile Hunter. 2. Sharks You don’t need me to tell you about sharks! While you can argue that sharks have always been feared, it was "Jaws" that helped bring the hysteria of sharks attacking humans to life. Which is actually kind of ironic, as most shark species DON'T attack humans, even when provoked. Shark attacks are actually pretty low when you look at statistics from around the world. 1. Box Jellyfish Surprised? I know it may seem like sharks are the obvious answer for dangerous sea creatures, but when it comes to the Box Jellyfish, it's a whole other story. The Box Jellyfish lives in the Indo-Pacific region and northern Australia. As such, more people are killed in Australia by the Jellyfish than snakes, sharks and crocodiles...combined! Deep Sea Starfish There are more than 2,000 known species of sea star, ranging from those that you find in rock pools to those that you’d see on a coral reef- but amongst the most bizarre ones that have been found are those that live deep below the waves. 9. Glass Finger This strange species of sea sponge that lives in deep waters are called Glass Fingers. Apart from looking like glass, their name actually comes from the way that their skeletons are formed. 8. Deep Sea Spider If you’re not too fond of spiders around your home, then these next creatures will show you how lucky you are to live on land! Spiders of epic proportions do live among us and grow to huge sizes of the coast of Antarctica. 7. Acorn Worm Acorn worms can live anywhere from the shoreline to over 3000 meters (10,000 ft) deep. They are very unusual creatures. There are actually only less than 100 known species of Acorn worm, and most varieties grow up to 1.5 feet long. 6. Barreleye Fish If you didn’t know any better, you might think this fish was some kind of aquatic robot used to spy on submarines during the cold war! The Pacific barreleye fish is an extraordinary creature that lives deep in the ocean’s waters. 5. Giant Isopod The Giant Isopod is another creepy creature that lives at the bottom of the sea. Related to pillbugs, it’s not actually a bug. It’s a carnivorous crustacean that crawls around the deep sea floor looking for food- from the remains of creatures that have fallen to the depths, or slow moving, living creatures like sea cucumbers and sponges, that it’s able to catch up to. 4. Dragon Fish The deep sea dragonfish, also called the Barbeled Dragonfish, is a family of fish that are found in the deepest parts of the ocean around the world. In all, there are nearly 300 different known species, each of which have their own unique characteristics. 3. Mariana Snailfish The ability for scientists to explore the deepest parts of the ocean has improved significantly in recent decades, which has led to a number of unmanned research missions to the deepest known place on Earth! 2. Sleeper Sharks Sleeper sharks are very rarely seen by ocean researchers. They are known to live in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and grow to up to 23 feet (7 meters) long and weigh up to 1,958 pounds (888 kg). A discovery in 2016 completely changed the way these creatures are understood. 1. Devil Worm All of the other animals on this list live in the ocean, since they provide much more habitable environments than are available underground, and far more research has been done in the water because it’s easier to access. This final one, though is the exception. 10 BIGGEST Underwater Creatures In The world!
Check out the 10 biggest underwater creatures in the world! This top 10 list of mysterious deep sea monsters has some of the biggest and most bizarre animals that were ever found! Subscribe to World5List: http://goo.gl/cpJSA6 Check out our "13 Amazing Pets Who Saved Their Owners" video at: https://youtu.be/bMwLm16_Q-0 Check out our "7 Celebrities Who Gave Their Kids Up For Adoption" video at: https://youtu.be/vVrlJFZ8sME 10. Japanese Spider Crab For starters, let's think about some sea creatures you'd see on or near a beach. What's the first thing you see? For me, it's a crab. They're always wandering around, and if you're not careful, you can step on one, and you'll regret it...trust me on that. 9. Giant Clams When you hear those words, "Giant Clams", you likely think about a movie you've seen, or a TV show that exaggerated the massive size of these clams. I'm curious though, which one was it for you? 8. Portuguese Man-Of-War The sea is truly full of wonders, and because of that, we're still trying to learn all the secrets that it holds. Take, for example, the Portuguese Man-Of-War. When you look at it, what species of animal do you think it is? A jellyfish? A good guess, but that's actually incorrect. In fact, the Portuguese Man-Of-War is a collection of organisms that work together to move and act. 7. Ocean Sunfish Sticking with the "oddities" portion of the ocean, let's talk about the Ocean Sunfish. This creature is affectionately known as the "Swimming Head". Can you guess why? That's right, it's because it doesn't have a tail. If you look closely at it, you'll see that it's literal all rigid, save for its mouth of course. 6. Giant Squid Whether on the land, in the air, or in the ocean, there are tales of massive creatures that roam the waters and have caused havoc for humans that have gotten in their way. The Giant Squid is most certainly one of them. In fact, many feel that the Giant Squid is the basis for the legend of the Kraken, which is understandable given how massive these creatures are. 5. Basking Shark Sharks are famous, and notorious for being some of the most vicious and aggressive creatures within the ocean. So it might just surprise you to learn that the Basking Shark is not only the second-largest fish within the ocean itself, but it's also one of most gentle sharks in the water. That sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it? 4. Whale Shark So, if the Basking Shark is the second-largest fish in the sea, what's the first? Well, that would be the Whale Shark, another creature that sounds like an oxymoron, yet this time works out when you think about it. After all, whales are massive, and this one definitely qualifies. True, it's shark nature is downplayed, just like the Basking Shark, but if we're focusing on size, this is one creature that lives up to the name both times. 3. Oarfish Speaking of wonders, let's talk about one that is so mysterious, so odd, and so rarely seen that when it first was taken in a picture, people actually thought of as a hoax. We speak of the Oarfish. This is a large fish that is actually the largest "bony fish" alive. In fact, the largest one found was 36 feet long. 2. Blue Whale So, we've already talked about the biggest fishes in the sea, but when it comes to mammals, there is only one candidate, the Blue Whale. In fact, the Blue Whale is so huge, that it dwarfs many man-made creations. This is a creature that is nearly 110 feet long! That's basically an 11-story building, and it probably weighs as much as that building, if not more! 1. Lion's Mane Jellyfish When we talked about the Portuguese Man-O-War, we noted that its tentacles reached at their peak 135 feet long. But noted that this was a rarity. In contrast, the Lion's Mane Jellyfish averages a tentacle length of 120 feet. And that's not including their bodies. Which means that the tentacles alone are bigger than the biggest creature in the sea via the Blue Whale.

BIGGEST Sea Creatures Around The World!

Fin Whale The fin whale is the second largest creature on Earth after the blue whale. It has been severely affected by commercial whaling and now it is rare to see one. If you have seen one, consider yourself lucky! They can grow as long as 89 feet (27 m) in length and can weigh between 40 to 80 tons! The maximum ever recorded weighed in at 114 tons!! They can live to be over 100 years old if left alone. The fin whale’s body is built for speed and it can even go faster than the fastest ocean steamship. It’s capable of speeds of up to 37 km/h but can go short bursts of even 47 km/h, earning it the nickname “greyhound of the sea”. Fin Whales have a very unique coloring with the right underside of their jaw, right lip, and the right side of their baleen being a yellowish-white, while the left-side is gray, making them look asymmetrical. Fun fact, fin whales and blue whales make the lowest frequency sounds of any animals. When they were first recorded by submarines, scientists thought they were tectonic plates grinding. Kind of makes you wonder about what is causing other mysterious ocean sounds! 9.) Portuguese Man of War While this is often considered a jellyfish, the Portuguese man-of-war is actually not an “it” but a “they”! It is made up of a colony of organisms called polyps that work together known as a siphonophore. While the tentacles can extend 165 feet (50 m), the average is about 30 feet (9 m) long. Still nothing to scoff at!! Also known as “the floating terror”, their body is between 5 inches to a foot wide (13 cm- 130 cm). They are usually found in groups of about a thousand or more, and have no independent means of movement. They either drift on the currents or catch the wind, so even though you should be super careful of jellyfish, they aren’t ever out to get you on purpose! The tentacles on a man-of-war are extremely venomous and very painful if you get stung but they are rarely deadly. The venom is typically used to paralyze their prey, such as small fish and other smaller creatures. Also keep in mind that a man-of-war does not need to be alive in order to give off a powerful sting, even if it has washed up on shore and looks dead, it can still sting you! The Portuguese man-of-war floats around the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Indian and Pacific. So keep an eye out if you are swimming around these areas! 8.) Giant Clam The giant clam is the largest living bivalve mollusk on earth. (Bivalve mollusks include clams, oysters, and mussels). Native to the warm waters of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, giant clams are capable of growing an average of 4 feet (1 m) in length and weighing close to 500 pounds (250 kg)! However, some species of clams have been known to grow as long as 6 feet. The large majority of a giant clam’s mass is in its shell, with the soft parts accounting for only approximately 10% of the weight. Giant clams are now endangered because they apparently are also quite delicious and have been hunted for centuries for its healthy protein. The giant clam has one chance to find its perfect home because once it chooses its spot, it stays there for the rest of its life. They can live up to 100 years or more, as long as they are in the wild. Most of the giant clams you see today have been raised in captivity and are really popular in large aquariums. Giant clams achieve their enormous proportions by consuming the sugars and proteins produced by the billions of algae that live in their tissues. This symbiotic relationship protects the algae and they are responsible for the unique coloration. No two giant clams are alike! 7.) Great White Shark According to National Geographic, great white sharks are the largest predatory fish in the world. They grow to an average of 15 feet (4.6 m) in length. However, there have been some who have grown to 20 feet (6 m) in length! In fact, the largest Great White Shark ever recorded in the wild was estimated to be 26 feet long, which is more than half the length of a basketball court. Combine this with a bunch of teeth, and this is why people get so scared. They are known to weigh up to 5,000 pounds (2268 kg). The heaviest Great White Shark ever recorded in the wild was estimated to weigh in at a whopping 7,328 pounds. . Most Dangerous Sea Creatures In The World!
The ocean isn’t just full of happy sea creatures that sing songs and tiny clownfish on the search for their lost family members - it’s a dark place full of creepy and wild creatures. This is our list of some of the most dangerous sea creatures lurking around in our oceans. Learn about the BIGGEST of everything Monday, Wednesday, and Friday just subscribe! 12 Saltwater Crocodile Crocodiles are one of those animals that are extra scary since they are not limited to coming after you in the water as they’re quite capable of climbing onto land as well. The saltwater crocodile is known to be one of the most dangerous of the crocodiles and one look that that toothy mouth that’s actually closed...it’s easy to see why. They are said to be the most dangerous animal in Australia, which is saying something. Saltwater crocodiles are highly aggressive and can grow up to 17 feet long and up to 1,000 pounds--though there have been that were recorded to be double that size. These territorial animals will go after anything and anyone that wanders near their homes. 11 Bullet Shrimp “How could something so little be so dangerous?” you might be asking. Well, the bullet shrimp didn’t get it’s name for being the size of a bullet. Evolution has helped them engineer their claws to be super functional war machines. They can snap down with so much force that they create a kinetic energy that momentarily gets to the same temperature as the surface of the freakin’ sun! This is probably why you would never see the bullet shrimp in captivity - they could easily destroy the glass of any tank they were contained in with just the snap of their fingers. 10 Textile Cone Snail The conus textile, or the textile cone snail, doesn’t look like it would pose much danger to swimmers, right? And yet they’re extremely venomous. Though their shells are popular for seashell collectors, obtaining them might prove to be a bit difficult and a little dangerous if you go after one that’s still being inhabited. Can you believe the snails that live in these have what are essentially harpoons that come with fatal neurotoxins? The harpoons are able to penetrate human skin and a single drop of this snail’s venom can apparently kill 20 grown men. At that point, is the shell really worth it? 9 Flower Urchin Here’s another creature found in the sea that is deceptively pretty. And don’t be fooled by the name or the way it looks. The flower-like organism is in fact considered part of the kingdom animalia. You might have guessed it just by the way it looks, but flower urchins are highly dangerous sea creatures. If touched, it can produce terrible a sting that needs to be medically treated. As far as their diet is concerned, flower urchins only feed on organisms like bryozoans and algae, so you’re safe on that front. Really, the biggest danger is you’ll be scuba diving or swimming along a coral reef and accidentally touch one. They inhabit environments like seagrass beds, rocky areas underwater, and coral reefs. They look so much like flowers, it’s surprising they’re not plants, and even more so that they’re not to be messed with.

FRIENDLIEST Sea Creatures Around The World!
Check out the friendliest sea creatures around the world! Sea Lions Sea Lions have long been associated with friendly interactions with humans, so much so that they form a large part of Peruvian culture- having been worshipped by the people there and depicted in numerous artworks. They are highly intelligent animals, which means they can learn tricks to entertain crowds, and are quite curious so they will often swim up alongside humans and play with them in the water. They are also used by the US military to assist SCUBA diving teams look for underwater mines and, in some instances, detain divers who have accessed restricted areas until authorities can arrive. Sea lions and dolphins are used as combat marine units and sea lions especially, have excellent eyesight. Sea lions are hardy, smart, and trainable and they have the added advantage that they are amphibious and can easily hand things to their handlers. This all makes Sea Lions sound like gentle creatures, but it’s important to know that sea lions have another side to them. If they aren’t treated well or respectfully, they can become quite aggressive. This can also happen with male Sea Lions because they are very territorial during mating season. If it looks like you’re bothering one then stay away but, if not, they are one of the friendliest sea creatures you’ll ever meet. 9. Beluga Whale Beluga Whales are native to the Arctic and sub-arctic, and are uniquely adapted to the cold waters. They are white in color, don’t have a dorsal fin, and have an enlarged head, which contains an organ called a melon that is used for echolocation. Beluga’s were actually the first type of whale to be kept in captivity, with the first being shown at Barnum’s museum in New York in 1861. To this day they are still the most commonly seen animal in marine parks across North America, Europe and Asia- mainly because they are much smaller than other species of whale and easier to contain. They are also a hit with visitors because of their unusual colour and wide range of facial expressions. They are really curious about the people who visit them, and often perform in shows with trainers who they develop deep bonds with. Since 1992 it has been forbidden to capture Belugas in Canada because of concerns for the population numbers in the wild, so now most of them come from Russia. They are so popular that each one can cost as much as 100,000 dollars. Whale watching tours are a great way to see them in their natural habitat, but it’s important for the boat not to get too close to them because of the way it can interrupt their daily activities. Quite often they enjoy interacting with the boats so much that they get distracted from things like feeding, social interaction with their own species, and breeding. They get so caught up in the moment, they forget what they’re supposed to be doing!! 8. Whale Shark You might not think a shark with a five-foot-wide mouth and more than 3,000 teeth would be the friendliest of creatures, but whale sharks are the most gentle of all shark species. They pose no threat to humans at all, and are usually pretty welcoming to those who want to swim alongside them. Despite their huge mouth, their throats are only the width of a US quarter, and they only eat tiny micro-organisms. Their average speed through the water is about 3 miles per hour, so they are easy to keep up with, and in a lot of tourist areas they are used to the presence of humans in the water, and don’t really seem to be bothered. Cancun is one of the best places to swim with these giants of the ocean, where you’ll really feel small next to a 65-foot-long and 12 ton fish. There really is nothing quite like being surrounded by a few of them, and the experience draws tourists from all over the world. If you visit “Las Afueras” you’ll even have a chance to be amongst a feeding frenzy of hundreds of them, which is a spectacular feat of nature. 7. Manatees Manatees, or sea cows, are also known as gentle giants, and it’s clear to see why. They are fully aquatic and feed mainly on plant life that they sift from the water. They can grow to up to 13-feet-long, weigh about 1,300 pounds, and push their way through the water with their paddle like limbs. The giant sea monster that lives beneath South Africa. We take a look at an alleged sea monster living beneath South Africa. Trunko is the nickname for an animal reportedly sighted in Margate, South Africa, on October the 25th 1924. The creature was featured in an article entitled "Fish Like A Polar Bear" and published in the London's Daily Mail. The animal was reputedly first seen off the coast battling two killer whales, which fought the unusual creature for three hours. 12 Most EPIC Deep Sea Creatures On Earth!
The most epic underwater creatures! These are the most scary fish and deep water creatures in the world and the weird sea creatures and scariest deep sea creatures on Earth! #9. “Giant Clam”--The Giant Clam doesn’t dwell too deep in the sea as it prefers warmer waters, like those found in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef but it is one of the most epic creatures on the planet. As the biggest mollusk ever discovered, Giant Clams have been found weighing over 500 pounds and over 4 feet wide. In order to keep their gargantuan bodies nourished they use their forceful siphon to slurp up unsuspecting plankton. They supplement their diet with proteins and glucose excreted by the algae that live on and inside them. This diet must be working to great effect as giant clams can live to be well over one-hundred years old. Though they are generally harmless to humans there are many cultures that have legends involving giant clams that are big enough to suck people into their siphons. #8. “Barreleye”-- Unique to say the least, the Barreleye Fish that roam the eastern Pacific ocean at depths upwards of 3,000 feet look like an alien submarine that was made out of a fish. Though it sports bioluminescent organs throughout its entire body (which averages half a foot in length) it’s the Barreleye’s transparent head that makes it a bizarre spectacle. This fascinating product of deep-sea evolution, needs its head to be transparent as it has no eyeholes. Its upward facing eyes are located completely inside the animals body but are able to see using bioluminescence to light up the ocean outside the clear dome. The Barreleye has two large nostrils above its mouth that are often mistaken for eyes and when seen as such make it look like a depressed dolphin. Barreleyes feed mainly on jellyfish and other small creatures that it sneaks up on from underneath. #7. “Goblin Shark”-- The goblin shark is truly the stuff of nightmares as it looks as though a swordfish and shark had an ugly baby, with a long snout above a gnarly tooth-filled mouth. These sharks are another odd species that are believed to have lived deep in the ocean since prehistoria. These rare sharks are mainly found off of Japan’s western coast and can grow up to almost 500 pounds with an average length of around 10 feet. Goblin sharks owe their name to the big-nosed goblins of Japanese folktales which they bear an uncanny resemblance to. Their diet consists mainly of squid which they snatch with their jaws that can extend over 3 inches from their bodies, only adding to the shark’s ugly terror-inducing visage.

Deep Ocean: Lost World Of The Pacific Part 1 - David Attenborough Documentary HD
An underwater adventure in search of living fossils. The island of New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean sits on the equator, where immediately next to a richly-colored coral reef, a sharp underwater cliff drops down to 1,000 meters. A long-awaited exploration down the little known depths of this tropical sea is finally about to start. NHK has teamed up with eminent marine biologist Mark Erdmann, discoverer of the coelacanth in Indonesia. The spherical transparent submarine, which successfully captured the world’s first moving images of a giant squid in its natural habitat, is used as the team encounters true living fossil species one after another. During their last dive, in the darkest depths of caves in the deep-sea cliff, the crew encounters a huge, unknown exotic fish… Narrated by Sir David Attenborough. For this shoot, the submarine was equipped with a cutting-edge 4K camera, for pristine images. Join the film crew on an exciting adventure into a deep sea never before seen by humans, captured on six cameras shooting multi-angles, creating a breath-taking underwater documentary. Part 1: The Lost World Of The Pacific The same submarine which successfully captured the world’s first moving images of a giant squid in its natural habitat is used for exploring the deep sea cliffs off the coast of New Guinea. Known only by its scientific name, this species of squid is the rarest on earth and does not even have a common name. 2 – Pocket Shark Second on our list is the Pocket shark which is an extremely rare species of the shark family. First seen years ago off the coast of Peru, the second-ever known specimen was collected in 2010 offshore Louisiana, near the Gulf of Mexico by the NOAA ship. 3 – Australian Ghost Shark Next is the Australian Ghost shark which is found in southern Australia, including Tasmania, south of East Cape and Kaipara Harbour in New Zealand at depths of up to 500 meters. 4 – Crusty Nautilus At number 4, meet Crusty nautilus also known as the Fuzzy Nautilus, one of the rarest marine animals in the world. This is a really rare species that was thought to have gone extinct after 1986 but was rediscovered in 2015 by a US biologist off the coast in Papua New Guinea. 5 – Pigbutt worm A rare sight that you might see if you descend thousands of feet beneath the water, is this balloon-like pair of buttocks that resemble a pig’s rear. 6 – Dumbo Octopus Dumbo octopus that belongs to the Umbrella group of octopuses comes 6th on our list and is the deepest living of all known octopuses. They come in different colors and live anywhere from 9,000 to as deep as 23,000 feet below the surface. 7 – Halitrephes maasi jellyfish Number 7, we have the Halitrephes Maasi jellyfish which is a deep sea jellyfish and not much is known about this species. It is extremely rare to have ever been seen as it is found at a depth of 4,000 to 5000 feet below the water. 8 – The Pink Sea-Through Fantasia 8th on our list we have the Pink Sea-Through Fantasia, an amazing creature that was unknown till 2007 when it was discovered by a team of marine biologists about 2,500 meters deep in the Celebes Sea in the western Pacific Ocean. 9 – Dana Octopus Squid At number 8 we have Dana octopus squid named after Danish fisheries biologist Aage Vedel Tåning who often traveled on the research vessel, Dana. It is one of the largest known squid species, reaching a mantle length of 5.6 feet and the total length of 7.5 feet. 10 – Vampire Squid We arrive at number 10 with the Vampire Squid that has similar characteristics of both octopuses and squid. The scientific name of Vampire Squid translates to 'vampire squid from and seems an apt name as its eight arms are connected by a cloak-like. 11 – Barreleye Coming next on our list is an astonishingly strange creature that can only come from a mad scientist or in this case from the deep sea. Barreleye, also known as spook fish get their name because of their barrel-shaped eyes. 12 – Oarfish Number 12 is Oarfish which is the longest species of bony fish, with lengths reported up to 17 meters and can weigh as much as 600 pounds. Just last year several beachgoers pulled a deceased oarfish from the sea in the Philippines. 13 – The goblin shark 13th on the list, the Goblin shark is a very rare species of deep-sea shark. It is a medium-sized shark and the length of an adult ranges between 3 to 4 meters. 14 – The Terrible Claw Lobster This tiny lobster is number 14 on our list and is apparently a very rare deep-sea lobster. The Terrible Claw Lobster gets its name because of its bizarre claws. 15 – Pacific Blackdragon The Pacific Blackdragon that ranks at number 15 on our list is a deep-sea predator that belongs to the Pacific Ocean and hence the name. 16 – The Narwhal Known as the "unicorn of the ocean," the narwhal is a rarely seen whale that inhabits mostly the Atlantic and Russian waters of the Arctic. 17 – Roughback batfish Though those lovely red lips are eye-catching, it still looks like it should have a good shave before it tries make-up again. 18 – Pelican eel At the 18th position is the Pelican eel, one of the most bizarre looking creatures in the deep sea with its most notable attribute being its large mouth. 19 – Spotted Handfish Have you ever seen a fish that prefers walking instead of swimming? If not then let’s introduce you to the second to last on our list. 20 – Blobfish Voted the world's ugliest animal in an online poll conducted by the British-based Animal Preservation Society, last on our list is the Blobfish which lives off the coasts of Australia and Tasmania. Since it lives about 2,000 to 3,900 feet deep in the water, it is very rarely seen by humans, aren’t we thankful for that! Make sure you paid close attention because those sea creatures are really rare! Did you happen to see one in real life?

SCARIEST Ancient Sea MONSTERS That Ever Lived!
Check out the most scary ancient sea monsters that ever lived! From the leviathan to the megalodon, this top 10 list of largest prehistoric sea creatures that roamed the oceans is terrifying! Liopleurodon Just imagine what it’s like to swim alongside a creature that’s many times your size!! Pretty intimidating but still nothing like these guys. The Liopleurodon was one of the largest sea monsters that ever lived. At about 80 feet long, it was the alpha predator in the shallow waters during the late Jurassic period, where it hunted crocodiles and giant fish. 9. Kerygmachela Kierkegaardi The K Kierkegaardi is a strange creature that lived about 540 million years ago, and recent discoveries of their fossils have led to a completely new understanding of how animals’ brains have developed!! 8. Dakosaurus Dakosaurus lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous eras about 145 million years ago. The species is often referred to as ‘Godzilla’ because of the deep shape of its skull, but it was more like a large crocodile that lived in the saltwater of the oceans. Growing up to 16 feet long, it had paddle shaped flippers to help propel itself through the water, as well as a fluke at the end of its tail to provide extra power. 7. Ichthyosaur Ichthyosaurs lived during the Triassic period until around 90 million years ago, when they mysteriously became extinct- about 25 million years before the event that wiped out the dinosaurs. Meaning ‘fish lizards’, Ichthyosaurs are actually thought to have evolved from a land reptile that moved back into the water, but it’s not yet clear what its precise ancestry is. 6. The Tully Monster If you were asked to design the strangest animal you could, then I bet you wouldn’t come up with something as weird as this odd looking creature, called the Tully Monster. Fossil findings suggest that it lived in the shallow waters of the Eastern United States about 300 million years ago, with remains having been found in the Mazon Creek fossil beds in Illinois. 5. Kronosaurus The Kronosaurus was a short necked pliosaur that lived during the Cretaceous era, just over 100 million years ago. They grew to around 32 feet long, 9 feet of which was its huge head- big enough that it could fit an entire human inside it! Remains have been found in Australia and Colombia, where it would have been the alpha predator of its time. 4. Anomalocaridids If you’re squeamish about creepy crawlies, then this next ancient sea monster is probably going to be your least favourite of all. Anomalocaridids were shrimp-like creatures that, for millions of years, were the largest predators in the oceans. They had soft jointed bodies, and spiny limbs to allow them to catch small prey like worms. 3. Tylosaurus The Tylosaurus- a name which means “knob lizard”, was one of the largest mosasaurs to ever live. They swam in the oceans during the Cretaceous era, about 70 million years ago, and grew to up to 50 feet long. They were different to earlier species of mosasaur that propelled themselves through the water with flippers and, instead, had giant tails that would do all of the work. 2. Luskhan Itilensis The Luskhan Itilensis is a new species of Pliosaur that was only recently identified in 2017 from fossils found 15 years earlier in the Volga river in Russia. Rather than being dinosaurs, they were actually distant relatives of turtles- with 4 large flippers, big heads, powerful jaws, and very sharp teeth. 1. Leedsichthys Growing up to 55 feet long, the Leedsichthys is thought to be the largest fish that has ever lived. (So this answer was actually pretty tricky!!) It’s difficult to know much about it, though, because only fragments of this giant creature have ever been found. At one point is was believed to be twice the size, but even the recent reduction in estimates based on new finds makes it bigger than today’s whale sharks, and by far the biggest bony fish that’s ever been discovered. Giant Isopod The giant isopod is not a gigantic bug even though it might look like one. It is a crustacean and lives in the deep sea, preferably in mud. They can only be found in the Pacific Ocean, normally off the coast of Japan and the South China Sea. The ones that are usually caught are about 14 inches long but one was found in 2010, that was 2.5 feet long. Scientists aren’t sure why they get so big!! 10. Vultures Have you ever been driving when you see something dead on the side of the road? Nine times out of ten you will see another animal hovering close by as well. The Vulture. They are scavengers and because of their creepy appearance and disgusting habit of eating carrion, they are no one’s favorite animal. 9. Sea pig These little alien looking creatures of the sea are actually sea cucumbers. The sea pig is only about 2 to 6 inches long, but gets its name from being pink and chubby and it looks like its gobbling its way along the seafloor. They have tubular feet that help them to get around and may have a sensory function. 8. Goliath Birdeater The Goliath birdeater is the largest tarantula in the world! This gigantic creepy crawly can weigh about as much as a puppy and be the size of a dinner plate. It was named when scientists came across one eating a hummingbird. However, their food source is mainly small invertebrates such as frogs, lizards, and earthworms. 7. Gharial Gharials are often mistaken for crocodiles. They are native to the northern part of India and are most well-known for their long, skinny snout, and males will develop a knob at the end. Males are much larger than females and can reach up to 21 feet long. They are also considered some of the heaviest reptiles on Earth, sometimes weighing up to 1,500 pounds. (But don’t worry, that’s still not more than a saltwater crocodile). 6. Manta Ray Manta Rays are enormous sea creatures and a lot of people are intimidated by them. Mantas can grow from 5.5 meters ( 18 ft) to 7 meters (23 ft) wide. The Giant Manta Ray can have a wingspan of up to 8.8 meters (29 feet)!! 5. Thorny Devil The thorny devil is a lizard native to Australia. It is also known as “the thorny dragon” or the “mountain devil”. You might not think it’s that scary but it is covered in thorns and its scientific name, Moloch horridus was named after an evil god in John Milton’s Paradise Lost who would cover himself with the blood of human sacrifice. I know, really intense, right? 4. Naked mole rat The naked mole rat is another animal that has a name that is deceiving. They are not rats or moles and they aren’t completely naked if you want to get technical. They have some hair between their toes and sensory whiskers on their faces and tails. Native to eastern Africa, you have to admit these guys are weird. 3. Aye-aye Lemur This little creature is found in Madagascar. It is an animal that natives believe you see right before a death and is a bad omen. I mean the poor thing does look a little demonic. It has a long thin, alien-like middle finger and teeth that grow forever like a rodent. It uses its middle finger to tap on trees to find grubs and then pull them out. 2. Wrinkle-faced bat Also known as centurio senex, the wrinkle-faced bat is found in the tropics of Central America. Their faces consist of multiple folds of skin that make them look like wrinkled old men, and really scary. These folds of skin hold scent glands and males have more, so probably for them, the more wrinkles the better to find a mate! 1. Basking sharks Let’s face it, basking sharks look a little scary. Their gaping open mouths can be up to 1 meter wide and are quite intimidating. Basking sharks are the second largest sharks in the ocean, (after the whale shark). They grow to be around 20 to 26 feet long, however, some have been found reaching up to 33 feet in length!! Most ELUSIVE Sea Creatures
Every single year, people are making new discoveries in our oceans, and that’s no surprise when you think that the ocean covers 70% of earth. Scientists have tried to work out how many more species there is to still discover in the oceans, but as you can guess, that’s a pretty challenging task. Today we have a look at some of the rarer species that live in the waters, and you’ll be glad that they’re rare, because many of them are pretty mean looking! So, grab your scuba gear… we’re going deep-sea diving! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 9 - Not your regular fish and chips… If you had to catch one of these, you’d be able to feed your entire neighborhood. This is an oarfish, also sometimes referred to as sea dragon. These seriously long fish are found in oceans across the world, yet although you find them anywhere, it’s finding them that’s the challenge. They are extremely rare. One of these fish made it into the Guinness Book of World Records, and measured 56-feet! 8 - Call me Bob… This is a Bobbit worm, and when they’re poking their little head out the sand, they look pretty cute. Don’t judge this guy by the part you see, as Bobbit worms have been known to grow up to 9.8 feet long! That’s a lot of worm hiding under the sand. The worm burrows itself into the sand leaving only it’s antenna sticking out. When something delicious comes by, this fast worm grabs it with its sharp teeth, sometimes slicing his prey in half while at it! 7 - Beware, he bites… With a name like Viperfish, what would you expect? Luckily for us, they’re found in depths of up to 9,000-feet, and prefer the warmer, more tropical waters. The viperfish uses photophores to attract its prey, and it blinks on and off thereby attracting the prey. Once it’s close by, the viperfish devours it. The fish has long fangs and a hinged jaw, which allows the fish to swallow prey a lot bigger than itself. Some have been known to swallow fish that are 63% of their own body length. 6 - Fly away with me… It seems that butterflies are just as beautiful in water, as they are out of water. This is a Clio Chaptali, a sea butterfly that is actually a type of snail. Their “wings” are the foot of the snail that has evolved over time to replicate wings. This sea butterfly flutters about, passively feeding on plankton and still has its shell for protection. Interesting side note – scientists have confirmed that the ocean’s acidic levels are changing, and they’re noticing that the shells of the sea butterflies are actually dissolving, which is a very scary to consider. 5 - Oh, Christmas Tree… Even under the ocean there’s reason to celebrate Christmas, as they have their very own brightly coloured Christmas trees. The easy name for them is Christmas Tree Worms, and there are over 13,000 species of them! They’re bright and come in many different colours. You always see them in pairs, and they do quite a bit of work. Besides feeding and sifting through the food, these little guys also harness oxygen. What we see is just a small part of the worm, 2/3rds of the worm is actually hidden from us. 4 - You look like you’ve seen a ghost… I think I’d rather see a ghost than a ghost shark! Ghost Shark’s are extremely rare, but they have been spotted off the coast of Hawaii, California and even Australia. They’re in depths of between 1,640 and 9,842-feet, and have a diet of worms, crabs and mollusks. These sharks are living fossils, and they’ve sometimes been called rabbit shark. Reason being, they have a jaw very similar to a rabbit, which they use to crush shells with. They can survive eating the things that no other fish could possibly eat, which is probably why they’re still around millions of years later. 3 - Here be monsters… This fish looks like it’s emerged from the underworld… The Pacific Black Dragon is a deep-sea predator and is found in the Pacific Ocean. The females grow to around 2-feet, but the males, a mere 3-inches. Bad luck for the males, they are only around to do the dirty, and after that – Bye-bye Pacific Black Dragon. 2 - Not much of a looker… It’s called the Black Swallower, which sounds more like a wrestling name than that of a fish, but when you hear why it’s called that, it will all make sense. This predator likes to dwell around 10,000 feet below the surface, and they’re not fussy, they like the waters of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. There’s slim pickings when you’re that far down, so these fish are able to swallow prey that’s much larger than itself. The stomach is very stretchy to accommodate the larger meal, however, there have been times when these creatures have swallowed something way too big, and their stomachs have literally exploded. Not a great way to go! 1...

Mysterious Sea Creature found washed up on a New Zealand beach
The skeleton of a mystery sea creature has washed up on a beach, baffling locals as to what kind of animal it could be. The strange creature was found at a beach in Canterbury, New Zealand and was originally assumed to be an alien. The creature appeared to have two legs and a tail, in addition to two 'wings', a fine set of teeth and a long point protruding from its head. The skeleton gave Hanna Mary and her mother a huge shock when they spotted it while out on a beach walk, the NZ Herald reported. 'My first thought was that it was something alien, but I was more fascinated than anything,' Hanna told the NZ Herald. The pair decided to take the creature to a taxidermist in the hope that they would be able to clear up the mystery. Unfortunately the taxidermist was left just as stumped after inspecting the creature and decided to posit the question to Facebook. Many people have guessed that it is, in fact, a skate. Dr. Malcolm Francis at Niwa has identified the creature as a male Dipturus nasutus, aka a New Zealand rough skate. "They are called rough skate because they are very prickly ... it's quite common in Canterbury," he said. Skates are a type of fish that have cartilage instead of bone and enlarged pectoral fins attached to their heads forming a disc-shaped body. Similarly to Rays, their wings are often eaten.
