How to become a Medical Cannabis Doctor

26:34
In this video, I had the opportunity to chat with Dr. Safiya Lyn-Lassite about why she chose to become a Cannabis perscribing doctor, tips for those interested in doing the same, typical day in the life and tips for all! Dr. Lyn-Lassiter graduated with honors from Trinity University (DC) with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science. She completed her medical training at Meharry Medical College in 2010 where she earned her medical degree (M.D.). She received her postgraduate emergency medicine training at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ, a Level I trauma center. Dr. Lyn-Lassiter has proudly served the South Florida community since 2013. To keep abreast of the latest developments in the medical field, Dr. Lyn-Lassiter maintains affiliations with The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), American Medical Association (AMA) and National Medical Association (NMA). As a testament to her success, Dr. Lyn-Lassiter was honored as the Physician of the Month at Memorial Hospital in February 2016. She works closely with the community to inform and educate people on evolving medical practices through engaging lectures and community-centered outreach programs. Dr. Lyn-Lassiter became involved in the field of Emergency Medicine after discovering how unpredictable and rewarding each patient interaction can be. Her specialties include Free Standing Emergency Department Administration, Graduate Medical Education and patient satisfaction. When she reflects on her medical training, her rotations in Nashville’s underserved community not only exposed her to the reality of health care inequity, but also this experience prepared her to engage a cross-section of patients with care and compassion. Dr. Lyn-Lassiter is currently pursuing a professional certification in Fitness & Nutrition. She enjoys traveling the world, attending music concerts and watching romantic comedies. Recently, she joined the interesting debate focusing on the effectiveness of medicinal marijuana (MMJ) use among Florida residents. As an advocate of MMJ, she created a user-friendly website (www.askdoctorlyn.com) to identify, evaluate and recommend MMJ for qualifying patients. Dr. Lyn-Lassiter is a proud parent to Myla, her eight-year-old daughter. Considering the future, Dr. Lyn-Lassiter hopes to continue flourishing in her career in the Emergency Department, exploring medical journalism, and advocating for MMJ patients nationwide. Spaghetti and Pasta Healthy Recipes Mediterranean Style

09:38
http://www.heartmonitron.com/hm_meddigest_journals_on_nutrition-_heart_and_diabetes-_cholesterol_and_healthy_weight_033.htm How to make healthy spaghetti, pasta and other mediterranean recipes. Three versions are explained. One for weight loss diets and weight maintenance, one for heart care and one for diabetes patient care. Recipe software, such as Cook'n, is used to find nutrition facts and plan best dishes, best menus and meals. Emphasis is put on healthy properties of the recipes. Vegetarian meatless and non-vegetarian meaty versions. The nutritional and health guidelines that we use to make the hM Journals recipes are a compilation, a sort of average of the recommendations of major health institutions. We are strongly inspired by the American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association, The Mayo and the Cleveland Clinic, The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) or the NIH ( National Institutes of Health ), by the recommendations of The American Medical Association (Guide to Preventing and Treating Heart Disease, publishers: Wiley & Sons Inc.). For the control of cholesterol, we adhere to the nutrition guidelines of The Harvard Medical School Guide to Lowering Cholesterol (publishers: McGraw-Hill). For healthy weight loss and maintenance, we use the USDAs Food Pyramid as a safety reference to come up with balanced and low-calorie recipes. The hM Journals readers and patients are encouraged to speak with their Doctor, Registered Dietitian or nutritionist regarding their meal or menu planning, some degree of professional supervision is always best. Mediterranean Spaghetti and pasta recipes can be more than just enjoyable, yummy and delicious. They can also be very healthy. When prepared in a healthy way, Mediterranean diet recipes are not only good for you, they are the very best recipes in the world for the purpose of health improvement, prevention or even the reversal of disease and also for caring for chronic diseases consequent to our Western World very bad eating habits. We advocate meals that are free of trans-fats, low in total fat and very low in saturated fats, meals that use lean protein sources, use unrefined and complex cereals or carbohydrate sources, including beans and other legumes, that include lots of fiber-rich and phytonutrient or antioxydant-rich fresh vegetables and fruits and meals that favor a low glycemic index or glycemic load.

American Medical Association: Topic Landing Pages (A D8 Case Study)

59:45
Avi Schwab, Brian Clement, Lauren Burroughs, Manning Peterson Since 1847 the American Medical Association has promoted scientific advancement, improved public health, and invested in the doctor and patient relationship. Today, the AMA has a vision for a healthier America. Improving the health of the nation is at the core of the AMA's work to enhance the delivery of care and enable physicians and health teams to partner with patients to achieve better health for all. In mid-2017, the American Medical Association set out to create a “new digital experience” for physicians, residents, students, and patients by aggregating thematic content from across their properties into a single, focussed source. Their desired outcome was for business units to be able to create “topic hub” pages where articles from a variety of properties were just one click away. In this session, we’ll take you through the process of developing this site and dive into a few of the highlights (and tough problems) of our development, including: How Core Layouts and Panels In-Place Editor make for a top-notch editor experience Flexible presentation with custom blocks, entity reference, and display modes. Exposing custom data to Google Tag Manager through many layers of Drupal. Our take on style guide-driven development, and how we iterated on it mid-development. Streamlining our development workflow with Config Split. Attendees should be familiar with Drupal development. Examples will span site-building, front-end code, and back-end code.

New American Medical Association (AMA) Study - Hormone Therapy Use Can Increase Death Rate in Women

03:40
A new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (AMA) shows a link between hormone replacement therapy taken after menopause and increased risk of death from breast cancer for women. For this reason, women should not have hormone therapy for a prolonged period of time, or without close supervision of a doctor. Dr. Samadi talks about a similar condition and relationship in men's health. As men get older, their level of testosterone decreases which leads to weight gain, fatigue, lower sexual drive and relationship in men. Some doctors in the medical community call this condition "male menopause." Dr. Samadi cautions men not take hormones for a prolonged period of time, or without being closely supervised by a doctor, as it can lead to increase death from prostate cancer, for example. Samadi concludes that here are other treatments available to women for menopause like antidepressants and anti anxiety agents. It's essential to care for each patient differently with individualized treatment plans. Dr. David Samadi is the Chairman of Urology & Robotics Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. He's also a Fox News Medical-A-Team Contributor & Professor of Urology at Hofstra Northshore LIJ School of Medicine. Dr. David Samadi Prostate Cancer Center is situated at 485 Madison Avenue, 21st Floor, New York, NY 10022 | Phone: +1-212-365-5000 (https://goo.gl/maps/mfansYfCMAn) Connect with Dr. David Samadi: Web: http://www.prostatecancer911.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrDavidSamadi/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/drdavidsamadi LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidsamadi Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drdavidsamadi/ #DrDavidSamadi @DrDavidSamadi
