12 Famous Logos With a Secret Meaning

10:53
A logo is the face of a brand, and we often buy this or that item because its “face” is well-known to the world. Come on, don’t deny it! As for the best logos, they convey a hidden subtext that represents the company’s values, goals, or history. So, here are 12 world-famous logos with a secret hidden meaning! TIMESTAMPS: Airbnb 1:15 TripAdvisor 2:02 MasterCard 2:55 Dell 3:53 National Geographic 4:26 Vodafone 5:08 Haribo 6:00 Subway 6:37 DC Comics 7:29 Mozilla Firefox 8:15 Bacardi 9:09 Orbit 9:42 Preview photo credit: Firefox logo used since June 2013 (version 23.0 Beta), Previous version of logo, used since Firefox 3.5: By © The Mozilla Foundation, CC BY 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.es, https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:Mozilla_Firefox_logo_2013.svg Animation is created by Bright Side Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The logo contains 4 simple yet meaningful elements: the head of a person that represents a user of their site, the sign for a location on a map to show where the house or apartment is, a heart to represent love, and, finally, all of these symbols combine to make the letter “A” for Airbnb. - TripAdvisor’s logo is an owl, which symbolizes wisdom and knowledge. As for its different-colored eyes, they show that each traveler has a choice to make: green means go, and red means no! - The international payment system we all know these days as MasterCard was established in 1966 as Interbank. Red stands for bravery, passion, and for doing what makes you feel joy. The bright yellow symbolizes prosperity. - Ever wonder why the “E” in Dell’s logo is all askew? Well, the founder of the company, Michael Dell, wanted to convey the meaning of the popular idiom “turn the world on its ear,” which means to change something in an exciting way. - National Geographic, the popular magazine and channel that broadcasts documentaries in 171 countries, made its logo a yellow rectangle. The rectangle symbolizes a door that’s open to the world of knowledge about nature, science, and culture. Yellow and bright just like the Sun. - Vodafone is a British mobile provider that operates mostly in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The company chose a couple of mysterious things for its logo, which looks sort of like an earphone. The designers wanted to show that, with Vodafone, users can talk to each other any time they want. - The Haribo’s founder combined the first 2 letters of his first and last name, Hans Riegel, and added the first 2 letters of his hometown of Bonn. - The arrows on the first and last letters of the Subway logo are there for a reason: they actually stand for the entrance and exit to the subway. This way, the company demonstrates that, with Subway, you can eat on the go, like in the actual subway! - Jim Lee revealed what the new logo of DC Comics actually means. The nooks and angles are meant to evoke the Superman “S” symbol, the Wonder Woman “WW” emblem, and the Bat-Signal. - “Firefox” is the English translation of the Chinese name for a red panda. This way, the company wanted to demonstrate how unique they are because this is a very rare kind of panda that’s actually endangered. - The legend goes that the wife of Bacardi’s co-founder saw a bat in their liquor factory. But instead of getting scared and running for the exit, he took it as a sign and decided that this was exactly what should be on the logo. - If you look closely at the Orbit's logo, you’ll notice that the capital “O” is split into 2 parts: one dark and one light. In the background you can see the image of an orbit. So, it’s clear that the “O” symbolizes day and night and a planet revolving around the Sun. 10 Mistakes and Secrets You Never Knew About Famous Logos

08:25
You’d think that the most successful companies in the world invest good money for their logos to be picture-perfect, yet even Google isn’t immune to messing up a logo design. Pay attention to 10 super famous company logos that are hiding something or have design fails and mistakes in them. We all know what the White House looks like, and you’d think there’d be no possible difficulties recreating it in an image. However, there were at least 3 attempts to create a logo, all of which resulted in mistakes. Wikipedia’s logo representing knowledge has a really embarrassing mistake right in the middle of the image! You wouldn’t catch it unless you know Chinese, so we’ll let you in on the big secret. Some people saw a man bending over vomiting in the London Olympics logo, while others were joking that it looked like Lisa Simpson in a compromising position. Salvador Dali hired to design the Chupa Chups logo put the brand’s name on a bright daisy and insisted that the logo be placed on top of the wrapper so that everyone could see it. And it’s basically stayed the same since then! When asked about the imperfection of letter “G” in their logo, Google chose the best route a person can when explaining his or her mistakes. They simply said that they’re aware of the inaccurate “G”, but that was all part of the plan! This slight imperfection makes their image playful and approachable. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS The White House 0:38 Wendy’s 1:29 Wikipedia 2:20 Hershey’s Kisses 3:28 The London Olympics 3:54 7-Eleven 4:42 Chupa Chups 5:17 Walt Disney 6:01 Pepsi 6:47 Google 7:17 SUMMARY -The designers of the White House’s logo made mistakes depicting the arch shape, mixed up the order of the windows and even lost pillars on the roof. -You might see nothing special in Wendy’s white and blue striped collar, but a closer look will reveal the word “mom” right in the center. -Wikipedia logo’s designer meant to write the Chinese word “wi”, but one tiny yet extra stroke made the symbol gibberish. -Lean your head towards your left shoulder, and you’ll get a sweet surprise: a chocolate kiss between the “K” and “I”. -Iranian participants in the London Olympic Games were upset by the peculiar style of the numbers 2012 because they read the word “Zion” in it. -All the letters in the word “eleven” in 7-Eleven logo are capitalized, except for one: the “n”. -The creator of Chupa Chups Spaniard Enric Bernat picked the most famous surrealist artist in the world Salvador Dali himself to design the new brand logo. -Those elegant swirls in the “W”, “i” and “y” in Disney logo look exactly like three sixes in a row. -If you wanna see what Pepsi can potentially do to you, just add a little circle on top of its logo, some arms and legs, and voila. -The letter “G” in Google logo doesn’t look the way it should. It’s not the complete perfect circle it’s supposed to be, and the inner circle is also far from ideal. You're independent to a fault and can do anything you put your mind to. Even though you aren't really looking for anything serious, you still wouldn't mind a partner who's as strong and responsible as you are but who can add a bit of spontaneity to your life at the same time. - If you got 18–26 points, you're probably a perfectionist. You like things done in a certain way and order. And your love life is the same: you know what works for you and what doesn't. All you need is someone who matches the image of the perfect man or woman in your head, someone as determined, calm, and idealistic as you are. - 27–35 points suggests that you’re a kind and social butterfly. Your perfect man or woman should be as laid-back as you are, someone who is witty, funny, and ready to explore the world with you. - If you got 36–44 points, your love life is definitely very important to you. You know how much time and effort relationships consume, and you're willing to do everything necessary for someone who's worth it. You're also open to new people and experiences, which means you'll find your special someone in no time! - Finally, if your results are higher than 44 points, you're highly emotional and very romantic. Your emotions are very bright and colorful: you cry easily, laugh easily, and tend to have a positive outlook on life! If anyone knows what love is, it's you. Therefore, you need someone who will treasure you and your huge, caring, kind heart. 10 Secrets Hidden Inside Famous Logos

04:34
See more at www.brilliantnews.com Branding nowadays is absolutely everywhere you look. We are constantly bombarded with so many icons and logos that we rarely stop to look further into them, but there are some very interesting and bizarre secrets hiding within these 10 famous logos! 1. Hyundai Bet you think the H logo is just the first letter of the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai? Of course you do! But it actually represents two figures: the happy client shaking hands with the Hyundai salesman, cleverly projecting the subliminal message of a successful car purchase. 2. Apple It was Rob Janoff who was tasked with creating the apple logo back in 1977. Janoff bought a bag of apples and spent the week sketching them, trying to represent the perfect angle where the fruit couldn´t be mistaken for a cherry. This was when he added a bite mark and stumbled across the similarity between Bite and Byte. This was definitely a selling point for Steve Jobs. 3. Vaio The first two letters in the computer company's name symbolize a digital waveform and the io is designed to look like a 1 and a 0, representing binary and the mix of analog and digital. Also the melody that sounds on startup actually derives from the dialtone sounds on a telephone keypad on typing V-A-I-O 4. Amazon Always aiming to please, Amazon designed their logo to represent a smile, projecting a sense of satifaction in their brand. Not only that, but the arrow also starts at ´a´ and finishes at 'z' implying that the company stocks every product you could possibly desire. 5. Toyota T-o-y-o-t-a. All the letters of the companies name can be found within the logo. But what does it represent? You're thinking A big strong buffalo's head or a cowboy with a hat, right? Wrong! It actually represents a needle and thread! This Japanese car manufacturer actually began making weaving machines and keeps its logo to this day! 6. Continental Sometimes overlooked, the continental logo is simple and clever. The first two letters are designed to symbolize a car wheel. 7. Toblerone This awkward-to-eat chocolate treat doesn't just have a simple mountain in its logo. Toblerone is made in Bern, Switzerland, so it´s no surprise to see one of the Swiss alps in its logo. But it also hides a secret bear hidden in the mountain, as Bern is known as the city of bears and the bear symbol is heavily decorated throughout the city. 8. BMW The German motor company started out making airplanes in 1916 and many think that the checker pattern in its logo represents the spinning propellers of an airplane. But it is actually just the design of the Bavarian flag, the part of Germany where the company originated. 9. Domino's Pizza In 1960 College dropout Tom Monaghan borrowed $900 to by a tiny pizza placed called Dominic's. 5 years later he bought 2 more locations. The former owner refused Tom the permission to use his name in the franchise so Tom turned it into Domino's. The dice in the logo represent the first restaurant that he bought, followed by the next two, and he had planned on adding numbers on every new opening. That was before he realized how big the franchise would become. 10. Unilever Who is Unilever, right? It's actually a huge corporation which owns over 400 famous brands. You've only got to look on the back of any of these popular products to find their logo hiding there. (Axe, Lipton, Ben and Jerry's, Dove, Heartbrand, Hellman's) But that's not all, the actual unilever logo is made up of 25 smaller logos, each with a rich meaning. A strand of hair or an icecream representing various brands, to more obscure references, like this bee... Which of these logos surprised you the most? Comment Below!

16 FAMOUS LOGOS WITH A HIDDEN MEANING (That We Never Even Noticed)

06:33
How to design a successful logo? How to build a famous brand for your business? Some of the most well-known logos in the world were purposefully designed to indicate something much more than simple beauty. In fact, it seems that in some cases, every line, curve, and color has meaning behind it. Adidas, Apple, BMW, Coca-Cola, Toyota… We see these famous brands everywhere but never consider what their logos exactly mean. Curious to know the secret? Watch the 16 famous logos with a hidden meaning you've never noticed. #logomeaning #logosecret # Hyundai 0:33 The letter ’Н’ symbolizes two people – a client and a representative of the company – shaking hands. Adidas 0:52 The current logo is three stripes at an angle which together form a triangle. This symbolizes a mountain, which in turn represents the challenges that all sportsmen have to overcome day after day. Apple 1:21 Rob Janoff, the designer who came up with the world-famous Apple company logo, explained his idea in one of his interviews. He bought a bag of apples, placed them in a bowl, and spent time drawing them for a week, trying to break the image down into something simple. Vaio 1:58 The first two letters of the Vaio logo symbolize an analogue wave. The last two are similar to the numbers 1 and 0 — that is, symbols of a digital signal. Amazon 2:14 The orange arrow is similar to a smile because the company wants its customers to be satisfied. The arrow is also stretched between the letters ’A’ and ’Z’, in a hint that the company sells absolutely every product you can imagine. Baskin Robbins 2:40 The pink-colored parts of the "BR" section make up the number 31, which is how many ice cream flavors Baskin Robbins used to famously sell. Toyota 2:56 The logo represents a stylized image of a needle eye with a thread passing through it. This is a hint at the company’s past – they used to produce weaving machines. Continental 3:28 Continental, a famous car tire producer, has a logo in which the first two letters depict a car wheel. Formula 1 3:41 If you look carefully at the white space between the letter ’F’ and the red stripes, you can see the number 1. Pinterest 3:59 On Pinterest, people collect images they like from across the Internet and ’pin’ them to their online boards. That’s why the image of a pin is hidden in the letter P. Beats 4:17 Beats, an audio equipment producer based in the USA, uses a logo in which the letter ’B’ looks like headphones on a person’s head. Toblerone 4:32 The famous chocolate company based in Bern, Switzerland, has a silhouette of a bear in its logo. That's because Bern is sometimes called a city of bears. BMW 4:55 The logo is simply a part of the Bavarian flag, the area of Germany where the company originated. LG 5:18 The logo is a stylized image of a person’s face. According to the company, this represents its aspiration to have human relations with their customers. Evernote 5:34 The corner of the elephant’s ear is folded over in a similar way how people fold the corner of a page to make notes. Coca-Cola 5:57 In the space between the letters ’O’ and ’L’, you can see the Danish flag. It’s purely a coincidence. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has used this as part of its marketing campaigns in the Scandinavian country. If you’ve enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up button! They were best friends, then pen pals — until one day, the letters stopped coming | Finding Fukue

20:39
Almost 30 years after receiving the last letter from her pen-pal, Jessica Stuart returns to Japan to try and solve the mystery of her long-lost friend, Fukue. #CBCShortDocs • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • It’s a mystery that spans decades, continents and cultures, and bridges one Toronto woman’s life with her childhood in Japan: what happened to Fukue? In 1988, Jessica Stuart was nine years old. Her family embarked on a cultural odyssey that would greatly influence her life: the Stuarts dug up their middle-class roots in Vancouver’s Jewish community and replanted them in a rural Japanese town called Saku for a year. It was during this absorbing year that Jessica met Fukue, a bright and bubbly girl with rosy red cheeks and an endless smile. Fukue and Jessica became like sisters, spending their days frolicking in the autumn leaves, dancing under snow-blanketed trees, watching hot air balloons illuminate the skyline in spring and sneaking through rice paddies in early summer. Strangely, Fukue never invited Jessica to visit her family home. One day after school, Jessica insisted. Fukue reluctantly brought Jessica to her house; it was a derelict shack on the outskirts of town. Shocked and disturbed, Jessica started to make sense of the name-calling and bullying that Fukue suffered at school. As the Stuarts’ year in Japan came to an end, Jessica and Fukue assured one another they would keep in touch. They became pen pals, writing letters back and forth for two years, until the letters from Fukue stopped — with no explanation. Now a musician in her 30s, Jessica has never forgotten Fukue. Her memories of their time together are beautiful, but haunting. And so her thoughts turn to the unknown. Where is Fukue now? Does she remember Jessica? Why did her letters stop all those years ago? Now, nearly 30 years after she left Japan, Jessica is going back to find the answers to these questions. She’s going to find Fukue. Secret Hidden Symbols in US Dollars

06:33
U.S. Dollars are the most important currency in the world but few actually take a moment to contemplate the reasons behind the strange marks and the secrets they are hiding. Here are the hidden secrets in us dollar notes! Subscribe for more! ► http://bit.ly/BeAmazedSubscribe ◄ Stay updated ► http://bit.ly/BeAmazedFacebook https://twitter.com/BeAmazedVideos https://instagram.com/BeAmazedVideos◄ For copyright queries or general inquiries please get in touch: [email protected] Credit: "Unwritten Return" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License, http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Lets also point out the obvious - this is the signature of the treasurer of the united states, as indicated underneath, and this is the signature of the secretary of the treasury... in case you can't follow the pattern. This marking indicates what year that particular dollar design originated and just above it is the treasury department seal, which authenticates the note. On closer inspection you'll notice a balance, which indicates justice, a key, which indicates trust, and an inverted v shape, known as a chevron, which has 13 starts within it. That number 13 is kindaa a recurring theme, we'll explain it soon. On the reverse, back side of the note you will notice that it attempts to encapsulate the ideologies of the new nation that the founding fathers wanted to preserve following the declaration of independence. In the centre you'll see the official US motto 'in god we trust' that was adopted in 1956. The two circles you see on either side are the two halves which make up the great seal. Why are there two halves? Let's start with the heraldic Bald Eagle, which you'll also notice is printed in purple on the five dollar bill. In front of the eagle is an unsupported shield which symbolizes the fledgling country's ability to stand on its own. The eagle is biting on a ribbon which has the phrase 'e pluribus unum' engraved on it. That means 'out of many - one' in latin. Above the eagles head is a load of stars in what's known as a 'glory' - a feature that's made to look like its bursting out of a cloud, symbolising a new nation led by God. The cap, or triangle encasing the eye is separated to symbolise that the United States is still far from finished and the rising sun behind it is supposed to represent a new nation that has begun - it even leaves a shadow to the west as back then that was the direction of undiscovered lands. The motto at the top read 'annuit coeptis' meaning "he has favoured our undertakings" and the motto at the bottom reads "novus ordo seclorum" - thats a harry potter spell. The shield has 13 horizontal stripes and 13 vertical bars and there are 13 stars above the eagles head, each with 13 be amazed logos inside. Alight, maybe not the last one. Anyhow, the number 13 was maybe a tiiiinnny bit special to the founding fathers as it symbolises the 13 original colonies. An owl mark would symbolise the illuminati and a spider would fit with the webbed background theme. Both may seem plausible, but sadly there is an even better explanation for this. After overlaying a transposed section of the web from the bottom part of the bill, it is clear that this is just an unintentional feature.

ALL EASTER EGGS, SECRETS, and REFERENCES in DELTARUNE (Delta Rune Name, Egg, Gaster, Key and more!)

29:48
There is now also a PART 2! ► https://youtu.be/PgDJY9QcwFg A full list of easter eggs, secrets, and references in the order they are found within Deltarune (I left out differences in dialogue branches, because those aren't very secret). But included a few random things that I felt were worth sharing. If you guys know of more, please share them in the comments! Maybe it should be all "known easter eggs, secrets, and references in Deltarune", but at the time this video was made, it was completely comprehensive! But in a game like this, people are almost guaranteed to still be find references weeks, or possibly months from now. I scoured gaming sites, reddit, youtube videos and comments, and whatever else I could pull together to make this VERY full list! I apologize I could not credit anyone, because it is impossible to know who discovered what first. But thank you all for your Delta Rune findings! I only found like 1/10th of these on my own. I hope you guys don't mind how quickly and loosely I go through things, but I didn't see anyone else approach easter eggs or secrets in Deltarune this way, and thought people might enjoy a different pace for this sort of video. This games obviously has 1000 Undertale references, but there are much more specific things going on. Weird name options, Gaster hints, FNAF, and some sort of space and time egg! ------------------ 2LT LINKS: Patreon ► https://www.patreon.com/2LeftThumbs Discord ► https://discord.gg/T2DR5d7 Twitch ► https://www.twitch.tv/2_left_thumbs Twitter ► https://twitter.com/2_left_thumbs Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/pages/2-Left-Thumbs/862024637202200 Official site ► http://2leftthumbs.com

Speak English Naturally: My pronunciation secret for difficult words

14:08
Learn the important pronunciation technique called BACKCHAINING, used by actors, singers, and public speakers to sound more natural and authentic in any language. Backchaining will retrain your ears to hear and your mouth to pronounce English words more easily and successfully. It is especially useful for those long, difficult English words, but it is also helpful with any word you are struggling with. Most English teachers do not have time to teach you this simple strategy, but you can apply it immediately after watching this lesson. Famous language courses are based on this powerful pronunciation technique; watch, listen, and solve your pronunciation problems today! https://www.engvid.com/speak-english-naturally-backchaining/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. I'm Rebecca from engVid. In this lesson you're going to learn a pronunciation secret that will help you to say English words more easily and correctly, especially long, difficult ones. Okay? Now, this is actually a professional technique that's used by actors, and singers, and linguists, and lots of people who have learned many different languages and want to or need to pronounce words correctly and authentically. Okay? Now, the reason why pronunciation is difficult for everyone when you're learning a new language is because when we grow up speaking our native language, we get used to... Our ears get used to hearing certain sounds, and our mouths get used to making certain sounds. And when we learn a new language, like English, then you have to train both your ear and your mouth to work a little bit differently. Okay? Now, the other part is because English is not phonetic, it's not completely phonetic. A large part of it is. Some people say about 80 to 85% is phonetic, but a lot of it is not phonetic. What does that mean? That means when we see a word, the way we say it is not the way it looks. Right? So, there's also that factor to take into account. But this technique can help you with both of these difficulties. Okay? So, first let's look at what we normally do when you're learning how to pronounce a word. Okay? So normally what we do is we do something called frontchaining, and I'm going to explain to you exactly what that is, but what I'm going to teach you in this lesson, the secret is something called backchaining, and that's what we will practice. Now, let's take our first example and do what people normally do, even teachers, even ESL teachers. All right? When they're teaching classrooms, they don't normally spend that much time on pronunciation because they don't have time. There's so much to teach and the class is so big, there's so many students it's difficult to spend time on pronunciation. So naturally, people have a harder time learning that and mastering that. And if you think about it, when a child is born and when a child is growing up, it doesn't learn to read first, it just learns by listening. So this is an opportunity to listen afresh, like new in a different way to words so that you can reproduce the correct sound, the correct pronunciation. Okay? So let's take our first example, and our first example is the word "pronunciation". Okay? Because by the way, a lot of people do not say this word correctly. Now, let's do it in the standard way, frontchaining, and see what happens. So in frontchaining, we start pronouncing or saying the word from the front and going forward. So if I did that, if I was teaching you how to say this word by using frontchaining, I would say to you: "You need to say it like this: pro-nun-ci-a-tion." Okay? I've divided up here just to make it a little bit easier for you to see and hear the syllables. Okay? This long word happens to have five parts, five syllables. Right? So it's quite long. Pronunciation. So when a student hears that, they're like: "Oh my god, I have to learn so many different sounds", and it's a little bit scary because there are five sounds, you know, that have to follow. So, what happens when you feel scared or nervous about something? Your brain shuts down. You don't learn as effectively. You don't learn as well as when you're happy and relaxed. So the advantage of learning in... Through the other system, the other technique called backchaining is that you feel much more relaxed because when we did it from the front we had to learn one, two, three, four, five different sounds. But look what happens when we use backchaining. So, backchaining is a technique that teaches you how to pronounce words starting from the end. So let's do that now and see what happens. So let's just take this last syllable, and we can say: "tion". So all you have to learn right now is the word "tion". Not word, part of the word. Next: "ation". You can repeat it after me. "ation, ciation, ciation, nunciation, nunciation". And last: "pronunciation, pronunciation".
How to Learn Chinese Characters

** Sign-up for you free trial here: https://remembr.it/chinese-characters Learning Chinese characters is easier than many students realize. The problem is that many students are still studying Chinese characters using out-dated and inefficient methods. To understand the best way to learn Chinese characters it's useful to understand how they were originally developed. This video gives a brief explanation of the main ways in which characters have been developed by looking at different character types, including: - pictographic characters - indicative and associative characters - and most importantly, the picto-phonetic characters Of these, the picto-phonetic method is responsible for 80% of Chinese characters and is the key to learn Chinese characters efficiently. By studying series of characters that share a common phonetic root students can easily learn 20-30 new characters in a single lesson. The Remembr.it Chinese Character course uses this methodology to help students easily study over 2000 of the most commonly used characters. Irony Letter found from Trump’s Grandfather not to be deported

04:28
✅BREAKING NEWS TODAY : Irony Letter found from Trump’s Grandfather not to be deported At a time when Donald Trump’s policies seem as if they are almost entirely anti-immigrant, it would be a great idea for him to stop and read his own grandfather’s letter for a moment Donald Trump’s grandfather, Friedrich Trump, was an immigrant. That alone carries some small weight of irony that would probably be lost on Donald himself, but that’s not all. Harper’s has translated and published a recently unearthed letter that Grandpa Trump penned to Prince Luitpold of Bavaria, begging not to be deported from Kallstadt. Albert Einstein’s ‘God Letter’

03:47
The story of Albert Einstein’s ‘God Letter’, his single most famous letter on the subject of God, his Jewish identity, and man’s eternal search for meaning. This private, remarkably candid letter was addressed to Eric Gutkind, whose book, Choose Life: The Biblical Call to Revolt, had been published the year before. Two months after writing to Gutkind, Einstein would celebrate his 75th birthday, declaring that he was ‘a deeply religious non-believer’. A year later, he would be dead. Why are these 32 symbols found in caves all over Europe | Genevieve von Petzinger

12:06
Written language, the hallmark of human civilization, didn't just suddenly appear one day. Thousands of years before the first fully developed writing systems, our ancestors scrawled geometric signs across the walls of the caves they sheltered in. Paleoanthropologist and rock art researcher Genevieve von Petzinger has studied and codified these ancient markings in caves across Europe. The uniformity of her findings suggest that graphic communication, and the ability to preserve and transmit messages beyond a single moment in time, may be much older than we think. My secret English vowel pronunciation trick!

12:09
How do you know if a word in English is pronounced with the long vowel sound or the short vowel sound? For example, “cut” and “cute” are pronounced differently, but which one has the long u sound? It may seem obvious with a short, familiar word, but what if you encounter a new word that you have never seen before? There is a quick an easy trick I have found that will give you the right answer most of the time. Watch this lesson to learn one pronunciation trick that will change your life! Then take the quiz at https://www.engvid.com/long-short-vowels-pronunciation-trick/ . WATCH NEXT: 1. TURN NOUNS & VERBS INTO ADJECTIVES: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSXHFAAM_xU&t=0s&list=PLpLRk365gbPb1TnZNvDIuXP3tDeIcu8kB&index=51 2. HOW TO PRONOUNCE J & Y IN ENGLISH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdk1UBDsgNQ&t=0s&list=PLpLRk365gbPb1TnZNvDIuXP3tDeIcu8kB&index=60 TRANSCRIPT Buh-clue. Hi. I'm Ronnie. I have something that... Oh my god, this is amazing. Honestly, this lesson will change your life. It changed my life when my good friend, Leaf, told me about this. Leaf, thank you; grammar god, you are pronunciation god - Leaf. Awesome. So, I've been trying to figure this out for ages, years, maybe 100 years because I'm a vampire, and I got it. Thank you. Are you confused about the pronunciation of vowels in English? So, for example, we have a long vowel sound, and a long vowel sound means that the vowel sounds like its alphabet name. So, for example: "a". But in English, we also have: "aw" and "a". Different ways to pronounce the vowels. One of them is a long vowel sound, so "a" is pronounced like "a". Then we also have a short vowel sound where "a" is going to be pronounced like: "ah". And how do you know when you read a new word to say it like "a" or "ah"? I have the answer. Oh, it's amazing. I... Okay, I get really excited about things a little bit too much; but this, I'm just super excited about it. And I want to teach you this - and, geez, it's going to change the way that you read things, the way that you learn English. So, give me some money or something. Just, enjoy. Listen. It's amazing. So, we have some guidelines. Now, I want to make perfectly clear that people like to say "grammar rules", and Ronnie hates rules. I'm Ronnie. I do not like rules because they're made to be broken; and in English, there's always exceptions to rules. So, you study a rule and you learn it, and then you go: "Oh", but no - sorry; that's an exception. And then you say: "Why?" Maybe you ask someone, maybe you ask your teacher: "Teacher, why?" and the teacher goes: "I don't know." So, please think of these as only guidelines; life-changing guidelines, though. Okay? I'm telling you. So, we have words that have two vowels. Okay? So: "a", "e", "i", "o", "u", and sometimes "y" are vowels. But this is our guideline: If in the word you have two vowels, the first... Oh, I'm sorry. The first vowel sound... The first vowel in the word is going to sound like its alphabet name or it's going to sound like a long vowel sound. The second vowel, it's silent; we don't even say the second vowel. Crazy. So, in English, if there's an "e" at the end of the word - we don't say it. In all of the other languages of the world, we say all the vowels; but English, oh no. The "e" is silent; we don't say that. So, if you have two vowels in the word, for example: "a" and "e", we're going to say the first vowel like it sounds like in the alphabet, so "a". We're going to say: "ba", and we do not say: "bak-e"; we say "bake". So, the first vowel is going to sound like the alphabet: "bake". What about this one? We don't say: "fah-me", like "ah"; we say: "fame". And, again, we don't say the last vowel in the word. So, this works with two-vowel words. The "a" we pronounce like an "a", and the "e" or the second vowel is silent. One more time the rule; it's life-changing. The first vowel sounds like its alphabet name, the second vowel is silent; we don't say it. Let's try this again. So, this is "a". The next letter. What's this vowel sound or what's this sound in the English alphabet? "A", "e". So, we say: "these". We don't say: "the-se", "the-se". "Look at the-se. Look at these." So, again, we're going to say the "e" like an "e", and the second "e" is silent. This is amazing. Woo-hoo. This word. So, you look: "dre-am". "I had an amazing dre-am last night; I was flying." But it's actually just a dream. So, one vowel we're going to say "e", the second vowel is silent. So, we don't say: "dre-am"; we say: "dream". "I had a dream." Did you have a dream last night or now? Are you imagining this? No. No, no, no. This is real. Get back into this. It's amazing. Let's see with this letter. What letter is this? Now, this is hard for you guys because in your languages maybe this is "uh" and this is "e", but in English, this is "i". So, watch this trick. Put an eye-woo-hoo-on your "i". […]

1 Simple Trick to Become Fluent in English - the JAM Technique - How to Be a Confident Speaker

08:53
Learn how to become a FLUENT and CONFIDENT English speaker by spending just 10 minutes a day. This is the JAM technique. For more FREE English lessons, SUBSCRIBE to this channel. Transcript: Hi and welcome back. In this video, I’m going to teach you one simple trick that you can use to become a fluent English speaker by spending just 10 minutes a day. The best part about this is that you don’t need a partner – you can do this by yourself. This is a technique that has worked for many of my students and if you do what I tell you in this video, I guarantee that you will become more fluent in English. So what is this trick? Well, it’s a technique known as JAM. Uh, no, not that kind of jam. This is actually a little fluency game based on a show that airs on BBC radio. The reason it’s called JAM is because it’s short for Just A Minute. This game has three stages. So here’s how you play it: You’re going to talk about a topic for one minute. That is, you’re going to give a speech without any preparation. So you just pick a topic - you can either take general topics like sports, hobbies, friends, books etc. or you can choose a question. For example, what is your favorite mode of transport? And once you have a topic, you speak. Now when you do, there are some rules: The first rule is that you cannot stop speaking. You must talk for the full minute. If you have to pause to catch your breath, it’s OK, but you cannot pause for more than three seconds. Even if you say nonsense or you say something unrelated to the topic it doesn’t matter. You’re just going to keep talking. So that’s rule number one. Rule number two is you cannot repeat the same ideas. That means you can’t just say the same things over and over and over again – this isn’t pronunciation practice – it’s fluency development, so no repetition of the same ideas. And rule number three is no writing – you cannot make any notes while you are speaking, you must only concentrate on speaking. These are just the three rules. So to begin, you need a timer, this can be on your smartphone for example. You start stage one by starting the timer and you speak until the one minute is reached. I’m going to give you an example of how to do this. I’m going to take this question: “What is your favorite mode of transport?” and I’m going to speak for a minute on this topic. Now I haven’t done any preparation, so let’s see how I do. OK, so what’s my favorite mode of transport? I would have to say that it’s the train. That’s because um, actually, you get to see a lot of nice scenery, beautiful landscapes and things like that. And you know, train journeys generally tend to be longer than other types of, or rather, other modes of transport. You can see I’m really struggling for ideas but I can’t stop, I have to keep going so I’m saying whatever comes to mind, that’s no problem. But back to the topic at hand, yeah, train journeys because they’re longer, they’re more relaxing. And one last thing I want to mention is that I’ve had the opportunity to meet interesting people and make friends on many train journeys. As a kid I used to ride the train a lot with my family. We used to go to lots of places by train and it’s actually something that I really enjoyed. Phew! That was hard. But that’s OK. That’s the whole point of this exercise. That was stage one. Now we’re going to move on to stage two. Here’s where we’re really going to start building our fluency. The first part of stage two is making notes – so you can use a paper and pen now. And you’re going to think back to the speech that you just gave, and collect ideas you came up with. In my speech, I remember that I had three ideas: The first was that on train journeys, you get to see a lot of beautiful scenery. The second idea was that train journeys are longer, so they’re more relaxing. The third idea was that you get to meet interesting people and make friends. So once you have these ideas down, you’re going to repeat the exercise. That means, you’re going to set your timer for one minute and you’re going to speak again on the same topic, but now, you can use your notes to guide you. You will notice that this time, you are actually able to speak more fluently because you have some good ideas on paper, and you will be able to expand on your ideas and give more information. Once the timer hits one minute, you stop. And we move on to stage three. Just like in stage two, you’re going to go to paper and pen, but this time, you’re going to add more ideas to your notes based on your second speech. I added some ideas like this. So now – for one final time, you’re going to speak again. This is your final speech. So you set your timer for one minute, you use your notes and speak. I’m going to give you my final speech based on my notes so you can see the difference.

Greatest Secrets & Rumors of Antarctica!

09:29
If the Us could succeed with building an underground city in camp century all the way in Greenland, complete with a nuclear reactor, hospitals etc, why couldn’t they do it down south? This continent might be extremely remote and covered in ice but if you can handle the cold and the massive penguins, you might uncover some secrets. From sightings of unidentified flying objects, to settlements under dozens of feet of snow, here are rumors and secrets of Antarctica. But first we’d like to give a quick shout out to Rudolf who says,” zeker nooit gehoord over de boot van Sinterklaas! Thanks for your valuable insight and we like to here comments from people all over the world. Let us know where you’re from in the comment section and maybe we’ll feature you in an upcoming video 9. Little Americas In the past, there were military operations in the past that weren’t always successful, conducted by the US, once in 1946-1947 known as operation highjump in order to basically install some kind of presence on the southernmost continent. The other one was operation deep freeze 10 years later. What would military be trying to do on this vast mysterious continent? The US set up a series of bases known as little americas 1-5 between 1929 to 1958, located south of the bay of Whales. The first little america was built in 1929 and left abandoned the next year. Many letters were sent from this location but eventually it went abandoned. Finally radio broadcasting was introduced at little america two on an iceberg and it’s believed the radio towers are still out there. From 1937 to 1939, a vehicle was introduced to antarctica known as the snow cruiser but aka the Penguin. It was left abandoned and rediscovered during operation highjump, which we’ll get to next. Other rumors state that the soviets destroyed it during the cold war but it’s nowhere to be found. A few more attempts to settle on the icy continent would fail and many would simply float away into the ocean. It wasn’t until 1959 when different countries agreed that only scientists were allowed here. 8. Operation Highjump The US navy was sent to antarctica and this required 13 ships, 33 aircraft, 4700 men and some huskies, a few who were named high jump and running jump, hints the name of the operation. During a press conference, the government stated that antarctica was a very large continent with a large amount of untapped resources. You have to wonder if this is the true reason, since there is already quite a bit of coal and oil that the US had access to, especially right after ww2. Antarctica would prove to be much more difficult to set a base up on than greenland for example. A group of ships arrived to the Bay of Whales in 1947 where little America 4 was constructed. Other previous little americas were found under anywhere from 10 to 25 feet of snow. Only a month later did they start to head back the other way. Perpetual blizzards made it virtually impossible to fly and frigid conditions must have made some settlers lose their minds. The ships have trouble breaking through the ice and Paving airstrips lead to fatalities. Some even feel as though the americans encountered flying saucer technology which drove them out of the area. Could this actually be the case? 7.New Swabia As other powerful nations did at the time, the Germans had also sent their people to Antarctica to see what all the fuss was about.
