Product Aspect Ranking and Its Applications

01:16
Huge collections of consumer reviews are now available on the Web expressing various opinions on multiple aspects of products. Among these aspects some are more important than others and have greater influence on consumers' decisions. This method uses aspect ranking to automatically identify important product aspects or features from online consumer reviews. Aspect ranking can be used in document-level sentiment classification and extractive review summarization achieving significant performance improvement on these applications.

openCPQ – A React-Based Product-Configuration Toolkit

30:24
The talk presents the new open-source project openCPQ for the web-based configuration of complex products. In contrast to popular commercial configuration tools openCPQ * uses the browser not only for the UI but also for the business logic, which makes configurators extremely fast by avoiding round trips to the server, * supports modelling of configuration rules embedded in JavaScript, which permits user-defined abstractions in a flexible way, and * recomputes the configuration result from scratch instead of incrementally propagating changes in the user input, which fits nicely with React’s architecture and makes openCPQ a light-weight framework. Tim Geisler and Heribert Schütz, co-founders of webXcerpt Software GmbH, have worked on all aspects of product configuration for many years. Based on this experience they had the idea that the capabilities of today’s browsers allow to simplify the architecture of product configurators. 07:54
The role of a product manager is crucial but also one of the least understood ones. What does a product manager really do? Is he more of a data analyst? Or someone who deals with the tech aspects of product, leading the team of engineers? Or does the product manager largely concern himself/herself with user experience, design or the overall business strategy? Mind-boggling isn't it? No wonder the role is difficult to understand for most. In this video, Ravijot Chugh, Co-Founder and Product Head at UpGrad, explains in detail the various responsibilities a Product Manager has, and that you need to execute to the best of your ability to be a good PM. We then develop a probabilistic aspect ranking algorithm to infer the importance of aspects by simultaneously considering aspect frequency and the influence of consumer opinions given to each aspect over their overall opinions. The experimental results on a review corpus of 21 popular products in eight domains demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Moreover, we apply product aspect ranking to two real-world applications, i.e., document-level sentiment classification and extractive review summarization, and achieve significant performance improvements, which demonstrate the capacity of product aspect ranking in facilitating real-world applications.

As a product manager you have a lot to consider when you’re planning and working on the vision, objectives, roadmap and backlog for your product, including where the input for all these aspects of your product comes from. You can either focus on a “top down” approach based on directives from senior leaders, or take a “bottom up” approach which starts with your ideas and works up. But which is the right approach to take? Finding which one works for you is really important to success.

Conducting Successful Product Complaint Investigations

01:17:25
This Video will provide valuable assistance and guidance to the life sciences manufacturers engaged in various aspects of product complaint investigations. An effective complaint handling system is an extremely important part of any quality system. Manufacturers should understand that any complaint received on a product shall be evaluated and, if necessary, thoroughly investigated and analyzed, and corrective action shall be taken. The results of this evaluation should lead to a conclusion regarding whether the complaint was valid, what the root cause of the complaint was, and what action is necessary to prevent further occurrences. Complaints cannot be ignored. They are an excellent indicator of problems with the use, design, and/or manufacture of a product. A single complaint that is thoroughly investigated may lead a company to take remedial or corrective action. It may also take an ongoing analysis of numerous complaints before a trend is spotted that causes a company to initiate changes in their product, labeling, packaging or distribution. The regulatory expectations for both pharmaceuticals and medical devices will be emphasized as well as overview of best practices for timely and effective investigations. What is PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION? What does PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION mean?

05:05
What is PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION? What does PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION mean? PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION meaning - PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION definition - PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ In economics and marketing, product differentiation (or simply differentiation) is the process of distinguishing a product or service from others, to make it more attractive to a particular target market. This involves differentiating it from competitors' products as well as a firm's own products. The concept was proposed by Edward Chamberlin in his 1933 The Theory of Monopolistic Competition. Firms have different resource endowments that enable them to construct specific competitive advantages over competitors. Resource endowments allow firms to be different which reduces competition and makes it possible to reach new segments of the market. Thus, differentiation is the process of distinguishing the differences of a product or offering from others, to make it more attractive to a particular target market. Although research in a niche market may result in changing a product in order to improve differentiation, the changes themselves are not differentiation. Marketing or product differentiation is the process of describing the differences between products or services, or the resulting list of differences. This is done in order to demonstrate the unique aspects of a firm's product and create a sense of value. Marketing textbooks are firm on the point that any differentiation must be valued by buyers (a differentiation attempt that is not perceived does not count). The term unique selling proposition refers to advertising to communicate a product's differentiation. In economics, successful product differentiation leads to competitive advantage and is inconsistent with the conditions for perfect competition, which include the requirement that the products of competing firms should be perfect substitutes. There are three types of product differentiation: 1. Simple: based on a variety of characteristics. 2. Horizontal: based on a single characteristic but consumers are not clear on quality. 3. Vertical: based on a single characteristic and consumers are clear on its quality. The brand differences are usually minor; they can be merely a difference in packaging or an advertising theme. The physical product need not change, but it may. Differentiation is due to buyers perceiving a difference; hence, causes of differentiation may be functional aspects of the product or service, how it is distributed and marketed, or who buys it. The major sources of product differentiation are as follows. Differences in quality which are usually accompanied by differences in price. Differences in functional features or design. Ignorance of buyers regarding the essential characteristics and qualities of goods they are purchasing. Sales promotion activities of sellers and, in particular, advertising. Differences in availability (e.g. timing and location). The objective of differentiation is to develop a position that potential customers see as unique. The term is used frequently when dealing with freemium business models, in which businesses market a free and paid version of a given product. Given they target the same group of customers, it is imperative that free and paid versions be effectively differentiated. Differentiation primarily affects performance through reducing directness of competition: As the product becomes more different, categorization becomes more difficult and hence draws fewer comparisons with its competition. A successful product differentiation strategy will move your product from competing based primarily on price to competing on non-price factors (such as product characteristics, distribution strategy, or promotional variables). Most people would say that the implication of differentiation is the possibility of charging a price premium; however, this is a gross simplification. If customers value the firm's offer, they will be less sensitive to aspects of competing offers; price may not be one of these aspects. Differentiation makes customers in a given segment have a lower sensitivity to other features (non-price) of the product.

3 Tests for Great Product Messaging

02:09
For this new Product Management video we have brought in another Senior Consultant and Trainer of 280 Group to discuss an important topic: Product Messaging. If you are a Product Manager or Product Marketer and have developed messaging for your product, here are 3 tests for you to determine whether your product messaging is where it should be. Relevant First, decide whether your messaging is relevant to the intended audience. It should be meaningful to them in some way, otherwise it wont be effective. Differentiated Make sure both your product and your product messaging is distinctly differentiated from your competition. Credible Maintaining credibility is key, if your customers don't believe you, your messaging will fail immediately. If you want to learn more about messaging and other aspects of Product Marketing and Product Management, sign up for one of our training courses. http://280.gr/2ztJgIS or buy a copy of Product Management for Dummies http://280.gr/2iHUkdl

Product Design | Off Book | PBS

05:54
Subscribe to the new Off Book channel at http://www.youtube.com/pbsoffbook We swim in an ocean of products. Behind each one, there is someone (hopefully) thinking about the way we experience it. In this episode of Off Book, we explore three aspects of product design: build quality and engineering fundamentals, humanism and sustainability, and speculation on the future of the product experience. In discussion with the 4th generation owner of a classic brand, a brilliant designer of socially progressive products, and an MIT researcher looking to revolutionize the product experience through 3D printing, we'll capture a sense of the values and challenges in the contemporary world of product design.
