John Masefield "Sea Fever" famous poem READ BY THE POET HIMSELF

02:19
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking, And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, a Poem

03:40
Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, a Poem IN Xanadu did Kubla Khan A stately pleasure-dome decree: Where Alph, the sacred river, ran Through caverns measureless to man Down to a sunless sea. So twice five miles of fertile ground With walls and towers were girdled round: And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills Where blossom'd many an incense-bearing tree; And here were forests ancient as the hills, Enfolding sunny spots of greenery. But O, that deep romantic chasm which slanted Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover! A savage place! as holy and enchanted As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted By woman wailing for her demon-lover! And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething, As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing, A mighty fountain momently was forced; Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail, Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher's flail: And 'mid these dancing rocks at once and ever It flung up momently the sacred river. Five miles meandering with a mazy motion Through wood and dale the sacred river ran, Then reach'd the caverns measureless to man, And sank in tumult to a lifeless ocean: And 'mid this tumult Kubla heard from far Ancestral voices prophesying war! The shadow of the dome of pleasure Floated midway on the waves; Where was heard the mingled measure From the fountain and the caves. It was a miracle of rare device, A sunny pleasure-dome with caves of ice! A damsel with a dulcimer In a vision once I saw: It was an Abyssinian maid, And on her dulcimer she play'd, Singing of Mount Abora. Could I revive within me, Her symphony and song, To such a deep delight 'twould win me, That with music loud and long, I would build that dome in air, That sunny dome! those caves of ice! And all who heard should see them there, And all should cry, Beware! Beware! His flashing eyes, his floating hair! Weave a circle round him thrice, And close your eyes with holy dread, For he on honey-dew hath fed, And drunk the milk of Paradise.

Ocean Poem

01:22
There’s something about the ocean That makes you feel small And powerful At the same time It’s like having an idea that’s a bit to grand to fully wrap your mind around You can’t see the edges of it And you can’t see everything that it contains But you can feel it All that big wild glorious movement The knowledge that you’re in the presence of something that does not care Weather you live or die Beautiful You can hear it too If you listen right The waves against the rocks The way the light touches the water It looks like first love and heartbreak at the same time And you’ll start to understand why People have been called to the sea The water in our own bodies Bringing us home to the tides Song- The Shining, Badly Drawn Boy

Source: http://chriszabriskie.com/preludes/ Artist: http://chriszabriskie.com/ - I AM THE OCEAN - by Hannah Drobir You might know me as the ocean Home to many from land and sea. I've always been there, always will be Going on in steady motion. Sometimes i am hard to tame, Hard to sail on when i roar, Hard to be around my shore, Day by day it is the same. Oh yes, i am the big blue ocean, Slightly dirty, slowly dying, Deep inside you'll find me crying, Still i'm honest, never lying, I'll keep going, i'll keep trying To go on in steady motion. Often my sound fills your ear, Often my waves cross your eye. No, there will be no goodbye. I will not go, i will stay here. After all, i'm still the ocean, Home to many from land and sea I've always been where i will be Going on in steady motion.

Poem of the Sea

02:17
(More of The Wee Little Cat!) I I created this video for my Marine Science (Oceanography) class. (CLICK SHOW MORE) (Full Transcript) Hello! My name's The Wee little Cat and this poem is by Dmitry Pepper. Poem of the Sea. Echinodermata they are found in the sea they have many shapes, but each has five ray symmetry. Ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm, make the diverse creatures in a myriad of shapes. They have a true coelom, but unfortunately no head. They have a gut and anus, enough said. Neither a circulatory system nor an excretory system are there and skin gills help them get their air. The endoskeleton may look as if it is on the outside, but it’s endo or subdermal, what a surprise! A water vascular system with its canals, operates their tube feets for our spiny skin pals. Their tiny pincers or pedicellariae, as they say, help keep all other marine animals at bay. sexual and asexual reproduction occur, but some go beyond, oh wow, sea stars can regenerate a lost arm Sea lilies, and biscuits, and urchins, and stars, and cucumbers and sand dollars, too all make up this big phylum for you.

Boom, boom, boom! The ants go marching nine by nine. Hoorah! Hoorah! The ants go marching nine by nine. Hoorah! Hoorah! The ants go marching nine by nine. The little one stops to check the time. And they all go marching down to the ground. To get out of the rain. Boom, boom, boom! The ants go marching ten by ten. Hoorah! Hoorah! The ants go marching ten by ten. Hoorah! Hoorah! The ants go marching ten by ten. The little one stops to shout, "THE END!!" ****** Get FREE resources like coloring sheets, games, flashcards, and worksheets for this song and more at https://www.supersimple.com ***** We're Super Social, too! facebook: http://facebook.com/supersimpleofficial twitter: http://twitter.com/simplesongs pinterest: http://pinterest.com/simplesongs instagram: http://instagram.com/supersimpleofficial blog: http://supersimplelearning.com/blog ***** Super Simple Songs® and Super Simple Learning® are registered trademarks of Skyship Entertainment Company. #nurseryrhymes #kidssongs #childrensmusic #supersimplesongs
"Sea Fever" - Video Poem

01:37
Sea Fever By John Masefield I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking, And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

"Paul Revere's Ride" poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

05:58
Listen, my children, and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere, On the eighteenth of April in Seventy-five; Hardly a man is now alive Who remembers that famous day and year. He said to his friend, "If the British march By land or sea from the town to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch Of the North Church tower as a signal light,-- One if by land, and two if by sea; And I on the opposite shore will be, Ready to ride and spread the alarm Through every Middlesex village and farm, For the country folk to be up and to arm." Then he said "Good-night!" and with muffled oar Silently rowed to the Charlestown shore, Just as the moon rose over the bay, Where swinging wide at her moorings lay The Somerset, British man-of-war; A phantom ship, with each mast and spar Across the moon like a prison bar, And a huge black hulk, that was magnified By its own reflection in the tide. Meanwhile, his friend through alley and street Wanders and watches, with eager ears, Till in the silence around him he hears The muster of men at the barrack door, The sound of arms, and the tramp of feet, And the measured tread of the grenadiers, Marching down to their boats on the shore. Then he climbed the tower of the Old North Church, By the wooden stairs, with stealthy tread, To the belfry chamber overhead, And startled the pigeons from their perch On the sombre rafters, that round him made Masses and moving shapes of shade,-- By the trembling ladder, steep and tall, To the highest window in the wall, Where he paused to listen and look down A moment on the roofs of the town And the moonlight flowing over all. Beneath, in the churchyard, lay the dead, In their night encampment on the hill, Wrapped in silence so deep and still That he could hear, like a sentinel's tread, The watchful night-wind, as it went Creeping along from tent to tent, And seeming to whisper, "All is well!" A moment only he feels the spell Of the place and the hour, and the secret dread Of the lonely belfry and the dead; For suddenly all his thoughts are bent On a shadowy something far away, Where the river widens to meet the bay,-- A line of black that bends and floats On the rising tide like a bridge of boats. Meanwhile, impatient to mount and ride, Booted and spurred, with a heavy stride On the opposite shore walked Paul Revere. Now he patted his horse's side, Now he gazed at the landscape far and near, Then, impetuous, stamped the earth, And turned and tightened his saddle girth; But mostly he watched with eager search The belfry tower of the Old North Church, As it rose above the graves on the hill, Lonely and spectral and sombre and still. And lo! as he looks, on the belfry's height A glimmer, and then a gleam of light! He springs to the saddle, the bridle he turns, But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight A second lamp in the belfry burns. A hurry of hoofs in a village street, A shape in the moonlight, a bulk in the dark, And beneath, from the pebbles, in passing, a spark Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet; That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light, The fate of a nation was riding that night; And the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight, Kindled the land into flame with its heat. He has left the village and mounted the steep, And beneath him, tranquil and broad and deep, Is the Mystic, meeting the ocean tides; And under the alders that skirt its edge, Now soft on the sand, now loud on the ledge, Is heard the tramp of his steed as he rides. It was twelve by the village clock When he crossed the bridge into Medford town. He heard the crowing of the cock, And the barking of the farmer's dog, And felt the damp of the river fog, That rises after the sun goes down. It was one by the village clock, When he galloped into Lexington. He saw the gilded weathercock Swim in the moonlight as he passed, And the meeting-house windows, black and bare, Gaze at him with a spectral glare, As if they already stood aghast At the bloody work they would look upon. It was two by the village clock, When he came to the bridge in Concord town. He heard the bleating of the flock, And the twitter of birds among the trees, And felt the breath of the morning breeze Blowing over the meadow brown. And one was safe and asleep in his bed Who at the bridge would be first to fall, Who that day would be lying dead, Pierced by a British musket ball. You know the rest. In the books you have read How the British Regulars fired and fled--- How the farmers gave them ball for ball, From behind each fence and farmyard wall, Chasing the redcoats down the lane, Then crossing the fields to emerge again Under the trees at the turn of the road, And only pausing to fire and load. So through the night rode Paul Revere; And so through the night went his cry of alarm To every Middlesex village and farm,--- A cry of defiance, and not of fear...

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush | Save the Earth from Global Warming | ChuChu TV

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush | Popular Nursery Rhymes for Children from ChuChu TV We all believe that the children are our future so we should teach them well and let them lead the way. We should make them understand their social responsibilities from a very young age. Global warming threatens our whole planet and it requires lot of fight and guts to save Mother Earth. So we need to educate our children to take the fight against global warming into their generation. This is one such small try from ChuChu TV. This is not only for the little ones but definitely for the parents too :). ============================================ Music and Lyrics: Copyright 2016 ChuChu TV™ Studios Video: Copyright 2016 ChuChu TV™ Studios ============================================

"The Sea-Bell" / "Frodos Dreme" (a poem by J.R.R. Tolkien)

08:07
http://Valkyrist.wordpress.com/ — "The Sea-Bell" is an enigmatic, narrative poem which was published in Tolkien's 1962 collection of verse THE ADVENTURES OF TOM BOMBADIL. It relates the otherwise unnamed speaker's journey to a mysterious land across the sea, where he tries but fails to make contact with the people who dwell there. He descends into despair and near-madness, eventually returning to his own country, to find himself utterly alienated from those he once knew. The poem touches on many themes which are recurrent in Tolkien's work: mortality, the otherworld, alienation, desire, suffering, pride, the sea and nature. It is a piece of great metrical and rhythmical complexity, and draws on medieval “dream vision” and Irish “immram” poetry. In his introduction, Tolkien suggests that the poem (which bore the subheading “Frodos Dreme”) reflects the dark dreams that visited Frodo during his final years in the Shire, following the destruction of the One Ring.

"Bride of the Sea", poem by Sonya Rose

03:10
"Bride of the Sea" Once accompanied as she ventured out to sea A double-crosser enslaved her. Her vows broke free. She searches for the coast while storm swords toss her. Her crystal clear skies form struggling pools of blur. The echoes of serpent sirens become fiercely louder. Her inner beauty forbids shining inside her. The storms of stress penetrate within her soul. Her tempestuous heart battles indulgence of a fool. Into bays of betrayal, her torn veil sinks. The blood of despair, she hesitates; she drinks. Closing her golden eyes, she rests on sea bed- "For better, for worse" the last words said. The morning after her body was found ashore- By the man who sealed eternity to heaven's door. His suffering never escaped seaside. "Bring her back!" Only the tide embraced a vision to shore. Her soul locked outside Heaven's door. Reflecting ... only to fall down. Commandments break ground. Funeral by dawn seem to last for years. The traces of her love buried in his fears. Afraid to leave the sea of their wedding song... The echo of her death humming mortal wrong... The sequence of sin, the friction of souls- The pain in his heart tolls... "Forgive me, Father, for this night." An angel in anguish kissed his lips, a sad sight. There's nothing he could do--to make it right. She put up one hell of a fight. And now, she enters the Light. She loved with all her might. ~Sonya Rose

WAVES. (a poem)

04:48
instagram: kirstysmith_x twitter: @theface0fkirsty more poetry: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfnxC6N627Nv2f0fq1IbycWBo1TXT6oTk WORDS // Waves, are so much fun! You can fly on them, surf on them. Feel the fresh water spray in your face, fresh salty sea air, fresh salty sea (no cares) Waves are not so fun, when they are crashing down on your head (leaving you better for dead), washed up on the beach with all the shells the children did not want to take home in their buckets. I never thought I could understand it. How to ride a rave until, one day, I did. Understand it. Realised that I was floating or flying not quite swimming more like gliding, on a wave, that seems never ending (but always ends) All waves end up crashed in the sand, and we knew that things were getting out of hand when we kept on pushing through 4am, 5am all the way to 8am we did not want this wave to end, what happens when the wave crashes into the sand, will you still be there to hold my hand when the chemicals in your brain aren’t telling you how much you love everyone, anymore will you still be there when i’m calling you at 3pm, unable to breathe down the phone, unable to utter a single word, not even answer your hello cause i have crashed. i am on the sand. i don’t even feel like i deserve to be on the sand (i am worse than the shells the children did not want in their buckets) but maybe, it’s an overreaction. maybe, it’s just a head rush, or concussion from the wave crashing against my head i don’t know but I do know, that this is where i would have come to in the end i’ve laid here before, on this same beach, pebbles scratching cheek i’ve flown up there before as well. never quite surfed before but been part of the surf: spluttering, flying, erratic, atoms of sea foam, incoherent i thought i’d mastered the art of surfing (got cocky, stood up on the board) i can never quite push back the feeling, of lying on the sand (the pebbles, the grit or the dirt) And I realised as much I cannot understand this, you cannot understand This because I have built up a wall, a four sided wall, a box. A box made of one way mirror (i can see out but you cannot see in) And that is how I discovered the definition of irony, when you turned to me and said, Kirsty, you seem in such a good place right and I was sitting there, thinking about dying. I was not riding the wave, I was drowning but god forbid, that I would drag you under with me So i’ll come out of my box (just for a minute) to smile and say yeah, man, this is wavey but I was drowning. And I ended up washed up, on the sand, thinking about how I wished I had drowned. This cannot be it. There’s got to be a middle ground. Got to be a way to swim, I cannot keep surfing without a surf board, flying off the waves to land face first on the ground only to be dragged back into the water again I thought I understand how to ride waves but I’ve only ever known how to drown. And crash. And drown. And fly and drown and crash and fly and drown and crash and fly again I do not need to learn how surf waves. I need to learn how to swim, against the wave.
