John Masefield "Sea Fever" famous poem READ BY THE POET HIMSELF

02:19
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking, And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking. I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

The City in the Sea, a Poem by Edgar Allan Poe, Audiobook

02:24
Lo! Death has reared himself a throne In a strange city lying alone Far down within the dim West, Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best Have gone to their eternal rest. There shrines and palaces and towers (Time-eaten towers that tremble not!) Resemble nothing that is ours. Around, by lifting winds forgot, Resignedly beneath the sky The melancholy waters lie. No rays from the holy heaven come down On the long night-time of that town; But light from out the lurid sea Streams up the turrets silently — Gleams up the pinnacles far and free — Up domes — up spires — up kingly halls — Up fanes — up Babylon-like walls — Up shadowy long-forgotten bowers Of sculptured ivy and stone flowers — Up many and many a marvelous shrine Whose wreathéd friezes intertwine The viol, the violet, and the vine. So blend the turrets and shadows there That all seem pendulous in the air, While from a proud tower in the town Death looks gigantically down. There open fanes and gaping graves Yawn level with the luminous waves; But not the riches there that lie In each idol's diamond eye — Not the gaily-jeweled dead Tempt the waters from their bed; For no ripples curl, alas! Along that wilderness of glass — No swellings tell that winds may be Upon some far-off happier sea — No heavings hint that winds have been On seas less hideously serene. But lo, a stir is in the air! The wave — there is a movement there! As if the towers had thrust aside, In slightly sinking, the dull tide — As if their tops had feebly given A void within the filmy Heaven. The waves have now a redder glow — The hours are breathing faint and low — And when, amid no earthly moans, Down, down that town shall settle hence, Hell, rising from a thousand thrones, Shall do it reverence. -End- The City in the Sea, a Poem by Edgar Allan Poe, Audiobook

For audiobook and ebook downloads, visit our new store: http://vid.io/xcvL Take your favorite books with you on the go - all collections 50% off! Lost at sea in an odd little boat watching the endless empty waves I cried out with all my might Shouting, screaming to the sky no answer No compass No map No way at all I drifted in a great ocean Through deadly storms and desperate becalmings And I wondered if there were anyone else in the world entire Will anyone find me? And then, one day, a noise! "Hello!" she cried. "Hello!" And there she was, on the horizon! Enveloped in the setting sun Drifting on the waves in her own little boat alone, the same as I "I'm here!" I cried, "I'm here!" Hastily I grabbed the oars Straining with all my might But her voice was not the only sound The wind grew harsh The waves grew rough The sky grew dark And though I strained with all my might to reach her By morning, she was gone I wept But even in her absence I felt a small note of joy "I am not alone." I DIVE down into the depth of the ocean -- A poem by Rabindra Nath Tagore

02:00
The series of video program-me here brings the poems in the form of original script of by Tagore depicting with appropriate back ground music. I DIVE down into the depth -- A poem by Rabindra Nath Tagore The title of the Anthology is ; GITANJALI -POET - RABINDRA NATH TAGORE (Received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913.) GITANJALI - ( POEM NO. 100 ) POET RABINDRANATH TAGORE SCRIPT I DIVE down into the depth of the ocean of forms, hoping to gain the perfect pearl of the formless. No more sailing from harbour to harbour with this my weather-beaten boat. The days are long passed when my sport was to be tossed on waves. And now I am eager to die into the deathless. Into the audience hall by the fathomless abyss where swells up the music of toneless strings I shall take this harp of my life. I shall tune it to the notes of for ever, and, when it has sobbed out its last utterance, lay down my silent harp at the feet of the silent.

"If All The Seas Were One Sea" Poem animation

00:43
Here's a virtual movie of a reading of a charming humorous clever little child's poem that never fails to make me giggle "If All The Seas Were One Sea" The poem is of uncertain age,but comes from the French English Dutch "Mother Goose" poetry tradition. The familiar figure of Mother Goose is an imaginary author of a collection of fairy tales and nursery rhymes[1] which are often published as Mother Goose Rhymes. As a character, she appears in one "nursery rhyme".[2] A Christmas pantomime called Mother Goose is often performed in the United Kingdom. The so-called "Mother Goose" rhymes and stories have formed the basis for many classic British pantomimes. Mother Goose is generally depicted in literature and book illustration as an elderly country woman in a tall hat and shawl, a costume identical to the peasant costume worn in Wales in the early 20th century, but is sometimes depicted as a goose (usually wearing a bonnet). The initiator of the literary fairy tale genre, Charles Perrault, published in 1695 under the name of his son a collection of fairy tales Histoires ou contes du temps passés, avec des moralités, which grew better known under its subtitle, "Contes de ma mère l'Oye" or "Tales of my Mother Goose". Perrault's publication marks the first authenticated starting-point for Mother Goose stories. In 1729 there appeared an English translation of Perrault's collection, Robert Samber's Histories or Tales of Past Times, Told by Mother Goose (London, 1729),[13] which introduced "Sleeping Beauty", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Puss in Boots", "Cinderella" and other Perrault tales to English-speaking audiences. These were fairy tales. The first public appearance of the Mother Goose stories in the New World was in Worcester, Massachusetts, where printer Isaiah Thomas reprinted Samber's volume under the same title, in 1786.A book of poems for children entitled Mother Goose's Melody was published in England in 1781, and the name "Mother Goose" has been associated with children's poetry ever since Kind Regards Jim Clark All rights are reserved on this video recording copyright Jim Clark 2012 If all the seas were one sea, What a great sea that would be! If all the trees were one tree, What a great tree that would be! If all the axes were one axe, What a great axe that would be! If all the men were one man, What a great man he would be! And if the great man took the great axe, And cut down the great tree, And let it fall into the great sea, What a great splash-splash that would be!

The Miracle: Poem for your First Love | Poetry in English | Performance Art

01:12
Isn't it beautiful to experience love for the very first time? Some people call it a 'miracle'. This poem embodies that emotion and makes you go down the memory lane of your firsts. Check out our Instagram Handle for daily content: @poeteaguy Our new book, 'Dunkelheit: A Journey towards the Light' launches on 15 September 2018 Poem: Gasp beneath the awe, This beautiful feeling; The beauty just a few saw. The tangled hair, surreal smile, The heart within, A goldmine. And like a lover I describe thee; A soul pristine. The most beautiful thing, as was she. No noun, no thing, is fair enough, To create the picture, I want you to see. But for this rhyme, Let’s call her the bird that flee. Soaring in the clouds or deep down the ocean, Every aspect of life has a facet of that bird. And while others fail to see it, I belong to the rare few; Because everything that this eye beholds, Is being seen like I once saw you. Ocean Poem

01:22
There’s something about the ocean That makes you feel small And powerful At the same time It’s like having an idea that’s a bit to grand to fully wrap your mind around You can’t see the edges of it And you can’t see everything that it contains But you can feel it All that big wild glorious movement The knowledge that you’re in the presence of something that does not care Weather you live or die Beautiful You can hear it too If you listen right The waves against the rocks The way the light touches the water It looks like first love and heartbreak at the same time And you’ll start to understand why People have been called to the sea The water in our own bodies Bringing us home to the tides Song- The Shining, Badly Drawn Boy

'Saving the Sea' a poem by Ella Simmons

01:31
Our vet team at Auckland Zoo were touched to receive a heart-felt poem from Ella Simmons titled ‘Saving the Sea’. Through her thoughtful story about a baby olive ridley turtle and its journey through the ocean, Ella is asking us all to be mindful of our rubbish as it will end up in the sea. It’s heartening to see the next generation of New Zealanders speaking up on behalf of our marine life, who don’t have a voice. A third of all turtles found dead on our beaches have died from eating plastic. Follow Ella’s example to reuse, recycle and cut down on single-use plastic bags.

In this original spoken word poem, Victoria describes unique traits that different deep sea creatures have evolved in order to make a place for themselves in the massive depths of the ocean. As a spoken word artist and performance poet, Isabel Victoria Bautista holds words to a high standard. For the last seven years, she has used poetry and humor to explore and explain a variety of social, political and personal issues that would be difficult to discuss otherwise. She was Oklahoma's representative to the 2014 Individual World Poetry Slam and has competed on the Oklahoma City Red Dirt Poetry slam team at several regional tournaments. She has one chapbook of poetry titled, Take Your Shoes Off at the Front Door. She regularly performs both spoken word and stand-up comedy at venues around Oklahoma City. Victoria is a second-year law student with hopes of working as a human rights attorney. A Tribute to Nujabes (Seba Jun) - Poem of Sky and Sea 空と海の詩 (Robotaki Remix)

05:35
Nujabes was truly an amazing artist, and it's very sad to hear that he passed away last month, February 26, 2010, in a car accident in Tokyo, Japan. Upon hearing this shocking news, I had to set down all the projects going on at the moment and do a little something in his honour. His music has been an inspiration to me ever since I first heard of his music through my brother. I hope you can enjoy my remix of 'Tenmon (天門) - Poem of Sky and Sea (空と海の詩)' as a small tribute to this talented artist. I can only hope maybe he can hear this tune wherever he is now. I will miss feeling his presence through his music. He is one of the few artists where I can truly "feel" the music. Rest in Peace friend, the world will miss you. Poets themselves have struggled with this question, often using metaphors to approximate a definition. Is a poem a little machine? A firework? An echo? A dream? Melissa Kovacs shares three recognizable characteristics of most poetry. Lesson by Melissa Kovacs, animation by Ace & Son Moving Picture Co., LLC.

John Ireland song "Sea Fever" based on poem by John Masefield, sung by Robert Irwin

03:15

Poem of the Sea

(More of The Wee Little Cat!) I I created this video for my Marine Science (Oceanography) class. (CLICK SHOW MORE) (Full Transcript) Hello! My name's The Wee little Cat and this poem is by Dmitry Pepper. Poem of the Sea. Echinodermata they are found in the sea they have many shapes, but each has five ray symmetry. Ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm, make the diverse creatures in a myriad of shapes. They have a true coelom, but unfortunately no head. They have a gut and anus, enough said. Neither a circulatory system nor an excretory system are there and skin gills help them get their air. The endoskeleton may look as if it is on the outside, but it’s endo or subdermal, what a surprise! A water vascular system with its canals, operates their tube feets for our spiny skin pals. Their tiny pincers or pedicellariae, as they say, help keep all other marine animals at bay. sexual and asexual reproduction occur, but some go beyond, oh wow, sea stars can regenerate a lost arm Sea lilies, and biscuits, and urchins, and stars, and cucumbers and sand dollars, too all make up this big phylum for you.

John Masefield's SEA-FEVER

This is a wonderful poem from John Masefield but the last time it was on the site here the lip sync had gone astray. So here it is again. I MUST down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, and all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by, and the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking, and a grey mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking. I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; and all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, and the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying. I must down to the seas again to the vagrant gypsy life. To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife; and all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover, and a quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
