03:01
1. Aisha This movie was a breath of fresh air when it came to fashion. It introduced Christian Dior, Chanel, Ferragamo and its likes to the Indian market. Such high end fashion for every frame was never witnessed in Bollywood. The Indian outfits with their modern twists to those pricey designer dresses, Sonam Kapoor had established herself as a Fashionista with this outing. It definitely gave the audiences a fashiongasm! 2. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham The semi backless tops donned by Kareena Kapoor Khan as Poo were every girl's dream. Kajol's transition from patiala with Kurtis to see through sarees, keeping it subtle were what every woman destined to wear. Who can forget Kareena's bell bottomed sharara from Bole Chudiyan? What was interesting was the way the 'Shava Shava' girls wore dupattas with their one piece with their short dresses. 3. Dil Toh Pagal Hai This Yash Chopra film have is the dreamy, romantic and idealist Madhuri Dixit draped in pastel hued, well-stitched chiffon salwar kameez instantly became every one’s pin up girl. On the other hand, Karisma Kapoor’s sporty dresses revamped the way India’s youth wore their western attires. The blend of the fashion from these two ladies in one film have ideas for an entire closet for girls who were looking for some fashion inspiration. 4. Jab We Met Kareena’s never-seen-before look that teamed a simple long white tee with Patiala salwar and colourful bangles were simplistic & very practical to wear. The patiala-tee fever hit the college campuses like a fashion missile and the trend went viral among the younger lot. Her patiala suits or those patiala being paired with sleeveless corset like tops, the Punjabiness just spread like fire onto the wardrobes of the fashion enthusiasts. 5. Bobby Back in the 70s the wasn’t much of skin show, but when Dimple Kapadia made an entry in sultry polka dot and mini skirt became a rage. The fans across the nation loved the look and polka dots entered the mainstream fashion. It gives a complete retro vibe and still is in trend. The actresses set the screen on fire with this movie with their perennial beauty and entrancing ensembles. Her white bustier with the matching frilly skirt is still one of the most iconic pieces in Indian cinema. A special mention to her ankle boots and red dress in Kya Kare. This film had given a new direction to Urmila's career & soon after she became the most desirable last. 9. Main Hoon Na Sushmita Sen played the hot chemistry teacher who wore chiffon sarees. The twist here was that the sarees were bright with vibrant patterns. The blouses varied from being halter, bikini tops, and sleeveless with bows at the back. The boys hoped to have a teacher like Chandini a.k.a Sushmita Sen in their college. 10. Karl Lagerfeld - fashion designer and icon | DW Documentary

42:26
Karl Lagerfeld - the name stands for much more than just fashion. What makes the fashion icon so successful? Who’s the man behind the sunglasses? Designer, artist, fashion icon, also known as "Kaiser Karl." No living fashion designer, let alone a German one, is as celebrated as Karl Lagerfeld. On September 10, the man with the trademark ponytail and sunglasses will celebrate his 85th birthday - it’s believed. From dawn to late morning, Karl Lagerfeld designs for Chanel, Fendi and his own signature brand - a combined workload of up to 15 collections a year. A workhorse who never takes breaks or even a vacation, he is also a photographer and filmmaker. His passion for fashion was awakened by a Dior show in Hamburg in 1950. Four years later, at the age of 17, Karl Lagerfeld was hired as an assistant to Pierre Balmain. Karl Lagerfeld recounts his beginnings in the industry, as well as his upper class background and childhood in Schleswig-Holstein. Karl Lagerfeld was greatly influenced by his mother, whom he describes as his personal style icon. Karl Lagerfeld's caustic comments are notorious and dreaded by those at the receiving end. As an artist, Karl Lagerfeld works in several media, from pictures and photographs to book illustrations and videos. The documentary follows Karl Lagerfeld to exhibition openings, during the hectic preparations for his fashion shows, and at photo shoots in Paris as it seeks to uncover the man behind the mask. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Former Fashion Model Nikki DuBose Speaks Out About Fashion Industry

02:02
It’s heartening to see that ex-fashion model Nikki speaks out about her experience in the fashion industry. What she is doing is risky and painful and hard. She waited many years to do it. No one should blame her for not doing it sooner. But everyone should encourage and strengthen her for being a warrior and fearless. ‪Women‬ and models from all over the world are still blamed for the ‪‎violence‬ committed against them. Think about that. They are blamed if they speak out, and if they don't. Much of Real Women Real Stories conversation and films are a serious turning point. This is the emergency of today, and we cannot remain silent. This is our chance for a change. Women who had been assaulted but had not reported their attacks should come forward. Secrets The Film Industry Doesn't Want YOU To Know !

10:05
From some crazy copyright lawsuits to some complicated beauty enhancement technology, here are 10 things the film industry doesn’t want you to know. Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 3. Everyone is Altered You really think movie stars look all that great with no makeup on or without going under the knife? Probably not. Sure it’s normal to wear makeup, but what else do they do? Skilled digital artists use highly specialized software which allows them to enhance certain features. You might have noticed it a couple times with Angelina Jolie. This is known as beauty work and it done during post production, enhancing not only the face but also that body. Many claim this has negatively impacted beauty standards of modern society. Every pore follicle, every wrinkle, any imperfection just digitally removed creating almost digital actors of flawlessness. The media creating unrealistic portrayals of beauty, many people will feel more self conscious about minor imperfections. The practice was for a while was only reserved for Brad pitt or tom cruise type stars but with technology constantly advancing, everyone could be a hologram! For example, toms face might not be perfectly symmetrical as you can see in this photo. But with some adjustments, he’d look as good as new. Some claim that movies from the 1930’s to 1960’s are the most the real of the films that were made and actually feature real human interaction. Movies that have been re released with digital enhancement and many have felt like they were ruining the originals 2. Fake Reviews Have you ever heard rave reviews about certain movies but then when you finally go to watch them, you think they were a bunch of garbage? Well that’s possibly because they were given fake reviews. Many of the movie trailers will show reviews saying things like, “stunning”, mesmerizing, breathtaking. The truth is though, it costs a lot to actually market the videos, so they just don’t really give a darn if they’re lying. You think they’re going to show reviews during a movie trailer? Definitely not! Critics are often suckered into reviewing movies with plenty of free perks that come along with it, if you know what we mean. In other cases, movie studios have played footage of what looks like your ordinary auditorium full of movie goers. But the truth is, they were all employees of that movie theater and using the footage for promotional purposes. Many of the movie reviews are simply just fake news. Users on reddit have claimed that their day at work often consisted of making fake accounts to sites like IMDB or rotten tomatoes and publishing biased reviews. 1.Plagiarizing It’s clear many hollywood actors have no respect for the law and many box office hits have been accused of plagiarizing. Shia LaBeouf has even been accused of plagiarizing a script for one of his short films and went on to apologize for his actions. During the Cannes Film festival in France, Shia’s film howardcantour.com was praised until it went online in 2011. The original creator came out and pointed out all the similarities. But this isn’t the only case by any means. There have been a few cases of Russian films being plagiarized from such as Avatar and the Martian. They think that just because they’re across the world that they won’t notice. The film the Hunger Games is accused of copying from a version of Battle Royale from Japan. The film the Matrix was also accused by people who claimed they had sent their script into the studio for review. But without the powerful lawyers they needed, the case became rather complicated and it was only settled for a relatively small amount. It’s hard to imagine that all of these movies were completely original despite the conclusions for the court cases.

Fast fashion to fair fashion: a toolbox to change the fashion industry | TEDx Talk | Justine Leconte

My TEDx talk is online! I was invited to speak about fast fashion at TEDxUniversityofMacedonia, in Thessaloniki, Greece. Instead of pointing at the negative effects that fast fashion brands have on the garment workers in the producing countries, I took on a more positive approach and made it a concrete "toolbox" to help individual consumers raise their awareness and change their behaviours. I think change starts with the consumer. Thumbs up if you liked this video :-) New videos: Wednesday 4pm & Sunday 12pm (Paris/Berlin time). Take care! Fashion's naked truths | The Economist

01:47
Half of all clothes are thrown away within one year—many have never been worn. The industry's obsession with fast fashion comes with a steep environmental price tag. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: https://econ.st/2xvTKdy Fashion is one of the fastest-growing industries on the planet. Around the world eighty billion new pieces of clothing are sold every year - 400% more than just forty years ago. Americans alone are buying five times more garments than in 1980. Now a $1.3 trillion mega industry, fashion employs more than 300 million people worldwide. While other industries have come apart at the seams, clothing production has doubled in the last 15 years. But it's a fashion statement with a steep environmental price tag - making one kilogram of fabric produces 23 kilograms of greenhouse gases. Textile production generates more carbon dioxide than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. Yet half of all clothes are thrown away within one year - many having never been worn. Fashion is now considered the second most polluting industry in the world after oil. And with increasing middle classes in the developing world keen to make their own fashion statement, this will get worse. If 80 percent of emerging markets reach Western levels of clothes shopping, carbon dioxide emissions could increase by nearly 80% per person. By 2050 total clothing sales could reach 175 million tons - turning the planet into the biggest fashion victim of them all. The Road to Seoul - Ep10C01 Male Models and Fashion Industry

07:41
The Road to Seoul Ep10 Male Models and Fashion Industry As the fashion industry in Korea, unlike the female centered past, is expanding its male model market, the number of Korean male models has drastically increased. Actively exploring careers beyond runway, on television and movie screen, male models are experiencing their heydays in Korea. # Korean Male Models, Entering the World Stage SBS, one of Korea's top 3 media stations, hosts the annual Super Model Contest. Traditionally, the contest has discovered numerous female models, and since 2011, male models were also able to enter the contest. Last year, the number of male applicants increased by 15% and exceeded that of female applicants. Kim Moo-young, the male winner of the contest in 2011, has gone on to international stage after the competition, and gained recognition in Milano, Paris, and Hong Kong. He is actively performing his modeling career with agencies in eight countries. # Male models into Various Fields The examples of successful male models in the entertainment industry contributed the most in increasing its population. Many of them actively expanded their careers as actors and celebrities and gained much fame, naturally becoming the object of envy. Some of model-turned actors even became the Korean wave stars with international popularity. Given their tall heights and natural poses from modeling basics, models are favorable and well fit for commercial films and acting. Their fresh and trendy appearances are also attractive to those professionals in the industry who are often fed up with typical masks. #Model, as a Dream Profession As the fashion market expands and the model's active boundary broadens, the profession as a model is making a meteoric rise. The number of professional modeling academies to train model aspirants increased much, as the population drastically and continuously grows. Even within the academy the male concentrated patterns are evident; the male to female ratio used to be around 2 to 8, which is now close to 5 to 5. It has been only 30 years since model became an official profession in Korea. However, today, it is solidifying its position and is becoming a dream occupation.

Ethiopians are very attractive people and so it's natural to use them to advertise these types of products. I want to use my people to advertise instead of foreign models." 10. SOUNDBITE: (Amharic) Yodit Mengistu, Manager Boston Day Spa Modelling Agency : "The agency opened up about a year ago and we have more than 100 men and women on our books. It's actually the only model agency in the whole of the country. The models are used mostly for television adverts, billboards, films and music videos." 12. Various of 'My Fashion' magazine 13. Since it's distributed throughout the world, we take the opportunity to highlight the beauty of Ethiopians. In the first few pages of the magazine we feature upcoming models, fashion personalities and have a 'faces' of My Fashion segment featuring people who we believe have the potential to achieve success internationally." 15. Various of models in pool LEAD IN Supermodels around the globe command huge salaries from catwalk shows, advertising and sponsorship deals, plus cover and fashion shoots. The British supermodel, Kate Moss, according to Forbes.com, earned $8 million (US) in 2005-2006. But for models in Ethiopia it's a different story. Men and women, hoping to break into the international market, are often paid just $35 (US) for a day's shoot. STORYLINE : In Ethiopia, one of the world's poorest countries, the life of a model is a good one. Compared to the majority of people who live on less than US$2 dollars a day, models can earn a good wage, though some still complain it's not enough. Yonatan Teferra is a male model who says he would like to earn more for a day's work. 22 year old Dina Fekadu, a model and philosophy student in Addis Ababa, has represented Ethiopia in numerous beauty pageants around the globe. Last year she made it in to the top 20 of the Miss Universe competition and was the only finalist from Africa. She says modelling at home is easy, but she says she finds the international scene very competitive. If she's successful, it'll encourage others to do the same. More money set for HK movies (24.2.2016)

01:54
The Government will inject $20 million into the Film Development Fund to help locally produced Cantonese films to enter the Mainland market. Delivering his 2016-17 Budget today, Financial Secretary John Tsang said Cantonese-speaking Guangdong Province has a population of over 100 million with box office receipts exceeding RMB4 billion in 2014, offering an extensive market for Hong Kong movies. The injection will double the current subsidy of $250,000 to $500,000 per film for distribution and publicity conducted on the Mainland, helping the film industry to promote Cantonese films there. Mr Tsang also allocated $500 million to promote the fashion industry’s development, by promoting local fashion designers and emerging fashion brands locally and overseas, setting up an incubation programme for designers and a resource centre to provide technical training and support. Ninety design start-ups will be admitted to the Design Incubation Programme in the coming financial year, helping to strengthen their business networks, publicise their products and conduct market promotions. Local fashion brands and designers will be helped to join Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week, while a series of local activities will be hosted to boost their profiles. On art and sports, the Art Development Matching Grants Pilot Scheme will be launched to boost the capability of established arts groups and organisations in raising private donations and sponsorships. The Elite Athletes Development Fund, established in 2012, has increased the number of full-time athletes by 60% since its launch, contributing to Hong Kong athletes’ outstanding performances in international competitions in recent years.
