Running Oracle Forms 11g Applications Using Java Web Start Launcher, No Any Web Browser Required
How to run oracle form in any browser? How to run Oracle Forms Applications without Web Browser? The Java Plugin has been used by Oracle Forms for many years. Browser technology has since evolved beyond the need or desire to continue supporting plugins of any kind. With modern browser vendors working to restrict and reduce plugin support in their products so it's getting increasingly difficult to run Java applets through browsers, which is a problem for Oracle Forms applications. Developers of applications that rely on the Java browser plugin need to consider alternative options such as migrating from Java Applets (which rely on a browser plugin) to the plugin-free Java Web Start technology. This video tutorial describes the steps to deploy Forms applications using Java(TM) Web Start Launcher. You'll learn how to run Oracle Forms Applications with Java Web Start Launcher from the Desktop or the Java Cache Viewer by creating JNLP File. Even though Java plug-in does not work in web browsers after installing Java, Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release still supports NAPAPI plug-ins. Alternatively we shall download and install Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release to run Oracle Forms Applications. You'll also learn how to manage and configure Java Security Exception Site List and set the security level within the Java Control Panel to get rid of the following errors or Java exceptions. (You can add the URL of the application to Exception Site List) oracle.forms.engine.Main ExitException: Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system. The following resource is signed with a weak signature algorithm MD5withRSA and is treated as unsigned: http:XXXX:7001/forms/java/frmall.jar This application will run with unrestricted access which may put your computer and personal information at risk. How I installed Java on Windows 7 (32-bit)
21 Oct 2012 - "What Java Do I Need?" You must have a copy of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) on your system to run Java applications and applets. [To develop Java applications and applets, you need the JDK (Java Development Kit), which includes the JRE.] You must have / or install JRE first (Java Run Time Environment prog.). Then install the update. http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7u9-downloads-1859586.html http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index-jsp-138363.html :- Java SE 7u9 This releases address security concerns. Oracle strongly recommends that all Java SE 7 users upgrade to this release. JavaFX 2.2.3 is now bundled with the JDK on Windows, Mac and Linux x86/x64. Learn more http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7u9-downloads-1859586.html and choose Windows x86 Offline 29.72 MB jre-7u9-windows-i586.exe http://www.java.com/en/ You must also enable the applet add-on e.g. when verifying via http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp Added 16 Jan 2014:- No backup or clone causes issues and then you cannot restore! My suggestion is as follows - disclaimer - but as there can be many variables or possibilities your guess would be as good as mine! Try: 1) Login in as admin (not run as) and download JRE manually onto PC. Make sure the download is complete and check size is OK. Same for the update. 2) Close all browsers 3) if corrupt and no restore pt/backup, you have to remove all previous Javas (JRE/updates) via the uninstall old versions process via the java site, or 'patch my pc', or 'revo uninstaller' or the java remove tool or control panel. Remove Java updates first, then JRE applet in control panel. . Also disable all java add-ons in the browser as these may be old or corrupt, if these have not been removed. 4) Restart machine or if prompted (to clear and fix changes) and log back in as admin. 5) use ccleaner to clean and registry clean 6) Check which compatible browser for which OS (java site) 7) Install the correct JRE (first) via manual download and then the update. Do the update for each browser but CLOSE browser to do the update. 8) Open the browser and check 'do i have java', then if prompted run the plugin for that browser. If you have not fixed it by now, you have either a corrupt OS, virus or add-on issue. It could also be another programme conflict. A clean reinstall may be a last resort if all else fails. Hindsight advice: When a PC is running fine, always make a backup to restore to should there be a problem or issue in a new install. A clone is the best but tedious which will ensure you can go back to that point when everything worked fine. If you install without a proper download, or the download itself is corrupt, and changes are made to the system, you can have difficulty to restore the system back to its original trouble-free state. You could try 'Toolwiz Freeze' and start the freeze before any install, and if all OK stop the 'freeze' and turn off the protection and save changes (if all OK) or drop changes (if not - to go back to state before 'freeze'). In Windows 7 PCs, usually remove/uninstall is done via control panel compared to other options suggested above for XP (NB:On April 8, 2014, support and updates for Windows XP will no longer be available - visit Microsoft windows support site for details). Working with the Trace File Analyzer Collector
The Trace File Analyzer (TFA) Collector Tool is a utility for collecting first failure diagnostics when creating Service Requests with Oracle Support. Using TFA Collector to make diagnostic collections removes questions about what files to collect and upload. TFA knows about all the well known Oracle and operating system diagnostic locations and collects only files that have been modified proximate to problem time specified from any of those well known locations. Larger files are also pruned proximate to problem time specified to reduce the size of the upload. If the system is a clustered environment TFA collects relevant diagnostics from the remote nodes as well. All of this can be accomplished with one simple command. Key features of TFA Collector include: RAC and single instance non-RAC support Time-based collection of relevant files OS Clusterware ASM DB OSW and CHMOS etc Large file pruning Cluster-wide time-relevant collections Analytics for key files DB alert logs Clusterware alert logs ASM alert logs system messages OSWatcher top and slabinfo data Flexible command-line interface Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. DistributableStream: A Java 8 Stream Computational Model for Big Data Processing
With lambda expressions and the Stream API, Java 8 becomes a highly powerful and expressive programming language that supports queries on in-memory data collections. These new Java features have shed light on a Stream computational model that enables users to easily process big data across multiple computational platforms. This session describes DistributableStream, the Java abstraction that supports distributed and federated query. DistributableStream builds on Stream, supporting execution of generic queries on any registered compute engine. At execution time, each portion of a DistributableStream is assembled as a local stream that represents data partitions locally stored on each machine. Best Practices for Developing and Deploying Java Applications with Docker
Eric Smalling, Solution Architect, Docker Inc. What if you could run your Java application in the same artifacts as your developer workstation, integration, and user acceptance testing environments as it does in production? With Docker, your deployment artifacts conform to a common, portable standard that allows your team to do exactly that. In this session learn how to best run the JVM inside containers; ensure it is built and tested in deterministic, repeatable fashion; and deploy it in a guaranteed known-good-state in every environment. This session explores the basics of Docker, how to build and run your applications in containers, how to deploy a web application using the same artifacts on workstations and servers, and best practices for managing and configuring JVM-based applications in Docker.

OutOfMemoryError Java Heap Space Fix - Heap Dump Analysis VisualVM Tutorial
In this tutorial I show you how and why a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError can occur when running a Java application. I also show you how to configure your application to perform a Java Heap Dump if an out of memory errors. Additionally; I perform heap dump analysis by importing it into a Java profiling tool such as VisualVM. This will help find the root cause. First I set the Java Heap size to 64m by changing the –Xms and –Xmx virtual machine arguments. What does –Xms stand for? This java virtual machine argument allows you to specify the initial size (bytes) of the java heap. What does –Xmx stand for? This java virtual machine argument allows you to specify the maximum size, in bytes, of the memory allocation pool. We set the java heap memory to such a small size that it can’t handle and save the amount of java objects being created. Once there is not enough memory left to allocate objects, the application will fail with an out of memory error. I then configure the application to perform a Heap Dump on java.lang.OutOfMemoryError by specifying the flag: XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError This heap dump will be present in your applications working directory. If you would like to change the output path of the heap dump you can specify it by passing the: -XX:HeapDumpPath I then proceed to execute the java application which has an infinite loop that will create and place objects on an Array list. The application eventually fell over and threw an OutOfMemoryError when we allocated a Brick Object and tried to place it in the list. The list was at its maximum capacity and tried to resize. An arraylist is backed by an array, which has a finite number of elements. Each time the list’s backing array has reached maximum capacity it defines a new array typically double the size and copies the old array’s contents over into the new array. Then the GC clears the old array. Unfortunately there was not enough room for the new backing array in the Java Heap which caused the application to crash. When the java failure occurred it left the java heap with file name pattern java_pid{process-id}.hprof, this file can then be imported into VisualVM Java profiler for analysis of the applications state when the out of memory error occurred. After importing the hprof file into VisualVM profiler we can analyse the java thread’s status and the memory allocation. We can see the last stack trace before the failure and the huge amount of Brick allocations. If your application ever crashes, it’s good to inspect the heap dump to find out what was going on. This will hopefully identify causes and will prevent future failures if you can put a fix in. If you work with a cloud based ephemeral file system, then you might not be able to create / access a heap dump, as the application’s file system is scrapped and a new application is started on failure. There are ways to work around this such as attaching a hard drive to the instance. It depends on the nature of the system. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial! How to Install & Setup Java Manager Package
A brief video on how to install & setup the Java Manager package. Synology released a new package called Java Manager. This package will allow you to upgrade or remove Java on your Diskstation. With so many exploits for Java found in the past few months it's not a bad idea to upgrade your version of Java. I was hoping that the Java Manager would have been a way to upgrade Java automatically. Unfortunatley it must be done manually, at least it can be upgraded though. SQLPLUS: LineSize & PageSize
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to set linesize and pagesize . PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language) is Oracle Corporation's procedural extension for SQL and the Oracle relational database. PL/SQL is available in Oracle Database (since version 7), TimesTen in-memory database (since version 11.2.1), and IBM DB2 (since version 9.7).[1] Oracle Corporation usually extends PL/SQL functionality with each successive release of the Oracle Database. PL/SQL includes procedural language elements such as conditions and loops. It allows declaration of constants and variables, procedures and functions, types and variables of those types, and triggers. It can handle exceptions (runtime errors). Arrays are supported involving the use of PL/SQL collections. Implementations from version 8 of Oracle Database onwards have included features associated with object-orientation. One can create PL/SQL units such as procedures, functions, packages, types, and triggers, which are stored in the database for reuse by applications that use any of the Oracle Database programmatic interfaces. PL/SQL works analogously to the embedded procedural languages associated with other relational databases. For example, Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server have Transact-SQL, PostgreSQL has PL/pgSQL (which emulates PL/SQL to an extent), and IBM DB2 includes SQL Procedural Language,[2] which conforms to the ISO SQL’s SQL/PSM standard. The designers of PL/SQL modeled its syntax on that of Ada. Both Ada and PL/SQL have Pascal as a common ancestor, and so PL/SQL also resembles Pascal in several aspects. However, the structure of a PL/SQL package does not resemble the basic Object Pascal program structure as implemented by a Borland Delphi or Free Pascal unit. Programmers can define public and private global data-types, constants and static variables in a PL/SQL package.[3] PL/SQL also allows for the definition of classes and instantiating these as objects in PL/SQL code. This resembles usage in object-oriented programming languages like Object Pascal, C++ and Java. PL/SQL refers to a class as an "Abstract Data Type" (ADT) or "User Defined Type" (UDT), and defines it as an Oracle SQL data-type as opposed to a PL/SQL user-defined type, allowing its use in both the Oracle SQL Engine and the Oracle PL/SQL engine. The constructor and methods of an Abstract Data Type are written in PL/SQL. The resulting Abstract Data Type can operate as an object class in PL/SQL. Such objects can also persist as column values in Oracle database tables. PL/SQL is fundamentally distinct from Transact-SQL, despite superficial similarities. Porting code from one to the other usually involves non-trivial work, not only due to the differences in the feature sets of the two languages,[4] but also due to the very significant differences in the way Oracle and SQL Server deal with concurrency and locking. There are software tools available that claim to facilitate porting including Oracle Translation Scratch Editor,[5] CEITON MSSQL/Oracle Compiler [6] and SwisSQL.[7] The StepSqlite product is a PL/SQL compiler for the popular small database SQLite. PL/SQL Program Unit A PL/SQL program unit is one of the following: PL/SQL anonymous block, procedure, function, package specification, package body, trigger, type specification, type body, library. Program units are the PL/SQL source code that is compiled, developed and ultimately executed on the database. The basic unit of a PL/SQL source program is the block, which groups together related declarations and statements. A PL/SQL block is defined by the keywords DECLARE, BEGIN, EXCEPTION, and END. These keywords divide the block into a declarative part, an executable part, and an exception-handling part. The declaration section is optional and may be used to define and initialize constants and variables. If a variable is not initialized then it defaults to NULL value. The optional exception-handling part is used to handle run time errors. Only the executable part is required. A block can have a label. Package Packages are groups of conceptually linked functions, procedures, variables, PL/SQL table and record TYPE statements, constants, cursors etc. The use of packages promotes re-use of code. Packages are composed of the package specification and an optional package body. The specification is the interface to the application; it declares the types, variables, constants, exceptions, cursors, and subprograms available. The body fully defines cursors and subprograms, and so implements the specification. Two advantages of packages are: Modular approach, encapsulation/hiding of business logic, security, performance improvement, re-usability. They support object-oriented programming features like function overloading and encapsulation. Using package variables one can declare session level (scoped) variables, since variables declared in the package specification have a session scope.

Let me know what video you'd like for me to create for this Hibernate tutorial. --- Hibernate Tutorial Transcript Hey. In this video, we're going to cover the Hibernate Configuration. Just a checkpoint here on our to do list, the first thing we need to do is set up our Hibernate Config file, annotate the Java class and develop the Java code. Right now, we're at step one of working on our Hibernate Configuration file. All right, now the configuration file basically tells Hibernate how to connect to the database. Again, remember that Hibernate uses JDBC in the background for communicating with the database. The bulk of the information that we'll have in a config file is that we'll actually have the JDBC configuration. We'll have the database URL, user ID, password and so on just to tell Hibernate how to connect to the database. Then we'll have some of those smaller config items. I'll show you that in a second. Let's go ahead and move into Eclipse. What we want to do is look at the source files that we downloaded for this tutorial. In our downloads folder, and I'll swing it here onto the screen here for a second, in our downloads folder we have this directory or folder here called "Starter Files." Inside of Starter Files we have a very basic Hibernate configuration file. It's called "HibernateConfig.xml." I'll go ahead and right click this file and copy it, and I'll actually paste it into my Eclipse environment. When I paste this file in Eclipse, I have to paste it at the root of the source directory. This makes it available for Hibernate to use it, because it has to be on the actual class path of your application. Here I'll paste it here on the source directory. You can put it in other locations, but to keep it simple, I'll just place it here at the root of our source directory. That's our HibernateConfig.xml. We can go ahead and double click this file and open it up and see what's inside. Here's our file. Near the bottom, click on the tab for "Source" so we can see a source code view of the config file. Let me expand this window here so we can see it full screen. Okay, great, so this is our Hibernate Configuration xml file. We have some parameters here set up for session factory. We'll talk more about session factory in a second. Basically session factory allows us to get session objects for connecting to the database. The most important items here are lines nine through thirteen, where we set up our JDBC database connection settings. Again, we simply go through, we tell Hibernate the actual driver class that we're going to use, the database URL, and the user ID and the password. This all should look familiar to you based on that previous example that we ran for our JDBC test. Again, the connection URL, we simply give local host 3306, HB student tracker, use SSL false. That's it. That basically tells Hibernate how to connect to our MySQL database. Hibernate also has a very basic JDBC connection pool. For our demos, we'll simply set the connection pool size to one because we'll simply run things as a simple Java app. I'll talk more about connection pooling later on when we move into some more advanced development. On lines 18 and 19, we set up our SQL dialect. SQL is a standard, however, as we know, each database has its own little twist on it or its own little dialect. Here we're going to make use of the MySQL dialect. When Hibernate generates the SQL, it knows how to talk to MySQL. They have dialects for each of the different databases, like Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, so on and so forth. This is enough here for connection to MySQL. Then on 21 and 22, I simply set up a configuration to show the SQL so when Hibernate executes, it'll actually print out the SQL that it's going to use when it sends it over to the actual database. This is very useful during development and testing, just to see what Hibernate's doing in the background. This is the end of the Hibernate tutorial transcript

Install Eclipse IDE and Oracle Java7 JDK on Ubuntu
a quick rundown of how to get a proper java development environment on Ubuntu. Specifically geared for the Linux users in Mr. Stewart's CIS163AA class at GCC. It is a little bit tricky so I figured I'd do the leg work and show people how to get set up. I know the video quality isn't really good (it was a long video and I wanted to keep the file size down) so here are the commands I used: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer -y uname -a sudo apt-get install ia32-libs For 32 bit: wget http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.2-201206081400/eclipse-SDK-4.2-linux-gtk.tar.gz tar -xvzf eclipse-SDK-4.2-linux-gtk.tar.gz for 64 bit: wget http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.2-201206081400/eclipse-SDK-4.2-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz tar -xvzf ~/eclipse-SDK-4.2-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz sudo cp -vR ~/eclipse /usr/share/ sudo rm -rf ~/eclipse sudo echo "PATH=$PATH:/usr/share/eclipse" __ /etc/profile sudo echo "export PATH" __ /etc/profile (you have to replace the underscores with arrows. Can't type those characters in Youtube) cd touch eclipse.desktop nano eclipse.desktop ## paste the following data [Desktop Entry] Exec=eclipse Version=4.2.0 Name=Eclipse IDE GenericName=Java IDE Comment=Java Integrated Development Environment Icon=eclipse Terminal=False Type=Application ## EOF sudo mv eclipse.desktop /usr/share/applications/ sudo cp -vR /usr/share/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.platform_4.2.0.v2012060820121400/eclipse256.png /usr/share/icons/eclipse.png you may need to reboot, but that is it.

Docker for your Java Development Environment
Learn how to setup your Java Developer Environment in a Docker Container with 2 simple commands! Re-create your developer environment consistently across all environments/platforms without having to go through all those annoying steps like remembering downlink links, environmental variable setups, custom files, network and user settings etc .. I will explicitly cover Netbeans 8.2 & jdk8 with the alpine linux base image in order to make for a very light base Docker Image size. Docker version 1.13.0 is being used. You'll learn how to download and re-create your developer environment either through downloading the image straight from Docker Hub (mvpjava public repository via "docker pull mvpjava/netbeans:8.2") or building the image yourself via the Dockerfile which we'll cover. Learn how to run, stop and start a Docker Container from the command line as well as see how to interact with Docker straight from within the new Netbeans 8.2 IDE Services Tab (super cool). It's important to keep your data outside the Docker Container and you'll see how to do that with named mount point volumes. Oracle Forms opening slowly Troubleshooting
https://amzn.to/2Ph2CbI [affiliate link] We are back again with some issues and solutions. Actually one of my friends asked me regarding performance tuning if forms are opening slow. That time I gave him some ideas and promised him that I will back very soon with some more information. There are lots of factors which may impact the applications but there are some work around which can helpful fixed the issues. One more thing I would like to tell, friends I shared my knowledge’s as per my real time experiences and real life experiences. So, there is not like just copying and pasting the stuff. As already I have shared my real life time stories which I have learned from my life. So, let’s start now. Suppose, our forms are opening slow then what things we should be check and how to debug it. I will try to explain here and share my knowledge. I am sure; it will be useful because it’s having been experienced. 1. We should check which forms are opening slowly either any particular form or all forms. 2. If all forms are opening slowly for particular machine then clear the cache and try again. It can be machine speed slow, machine hardware and bandwidth speed. If all forms are opening slow and for all machine then we really need to check below things such as: A. Check whether Trace is enabled or disabled and if it is enabled then kindly disabled it. B. Check the top commands if any resources are consuming high CPU usage. C. Check for all Inactive Sessions if it’s there then kill those sessions. D. Check for deadlocks. E. Every user should close the forms and logout properly. But actually we don’t care. We just close windows tab at a time and left for break :D :P but that’s also impact our EBS internally. F. A programmer if ran any program with infinite loops then this also cause a performance issue. That’s why we need to write any program carefully. If program not properly then it may cause deadlock as also which I have explained it in my previous posts. G. It can also be because of increasing the number of users. Also need to check users have one active session. H. Check for the Performance Pack (Native I/O) is turned on for WLS. And most and always we use this method. If the users have issue for any custom forms then we should follow below steps which are easy and very effective. When he run the program that time you should follow below steps: 1. Enable the Trace file. Login to front-end - Help - Diagnostics - Trace - "Trace with Binds and waits” . Then there will be a trace file generate under below patch: $cd $ORACLE_HOME/admin/$CONTEXT_NAME/udump Now you can run either Trace Analyzer or tkprof as shown below commands: Trace Analyzer command: $sqlplus apps/apps_password SQL START TRCANLZR.sql UDUMP ora-data_ora1919.trc; TKPROF command: $ORACLE_HOME/admin/$CONTEXT_NAME/udump $tkprof ora-data_ora_1919.trc ora-data_ora_1919.txt explain=apps/apps_pwd Hope this may useful and helpful. We will come back again with new troubleshooting and solution as what we should do if forms opening slow after increasing the number of session. For any concerns or suggestions please reach to us either by comment box or contact us @ ora-data.blogspot.com.
