Simple Project! Our most popular video is one we made years ago showing how we tumbled glass to fill our flower beds. Time and time again people have asked me about the process. While not a true 'sea glass' this is an excellent approximation especially if you want uniform color or large quantities. Tumbling glass for decorative purposes is a great way to reuse and recycle it. While not a true 'sea glass' as that is as much a chemical process as abrasion, what we produce is close enough for our purposes. If you do not needs yards of glass this can be replicated using a small rock tumbler, conversely if you need many yards of glass non road worthy cement trucks can be picked up for the price of scrap. I think this is a very neat project, one that will make your home stand out. I love how the color of the glass changes as it become opaque becoming more intense. Just about anyone can get large amounts of glass for free, with clear, green and brown the easiest. I do not care for the brown tumbled but to each their own. A decent source of colored glass is second hand shops. Tell them you will buy their glass cheap, even if broken. Getting a dollar or two for something that got dropped is way better than nothing. Also artisan glassblowers might be a good source, especially if you do not care about mixed colors.

In this video we show you how to make tumbled glass using a rotary rock tumbler. Our product will be very similar to the "beach glass" or "sea glass" that can be found along coastlines. We start with landscape glass that can be purchased at many home improvement and garden supply stores. After five days of tumbling it was converted into some nice nuggets of "frosted glass". And, after tumbling for several more days in medium grit, fine grit and aluminum oxide polish we have some very gemmy pieces of polished glass. Lots of people use tumbled glass for ground cover in potted plants, aquarium gravel, making jewelry and a variety of other craft and home decor projects. We have a lot more details and photos posted on our website at http://rocktumbler.com/tips/tumbled-glass/ The tumbler that we used in this video is the Lortone QT6 rotary rock tumbler. You can read more about it here.... http://rocktumbler.com/lortone/model-qt6.shtml

DIY Wind Chimes | Summer Craft | Apostrophe S | Sea Breeze Hi, it's Kim from Apostrophe S and I'm excited to be showing you our Sea Breeze Wind Chime Kit. Here is a look at our finished product. Now, it's a wind chime, so obviously you won't be displaying it like this, but this gives you a kind of a jist of how it looks. We've got the sea glass pieces that create the chiming sound, when the wind blows through it. I just, I have to have you hear that. So let me go ahead and show you your kit. In your kit you'll have...some templates. These are going to help you organize your pieces. We've got your driftwood stick and your rope to use for tying and then your glue and fishing line, fishing line and glue right there. That will help your sea glass pieces dangle. Then last, but not least the sea glass here. Now because it's sea glass though, every shape is going to be just a little bit different. So your wind chime is going to have a unique and totally personalized look to it and nobody will have one just like yours. Now you do need a few things from home. You're going to need some tape and some scissors. So let's go ahead and get started. The first step you need to do is to break out your gluing template. I've got mine here and you're going to want to secure it to your work surface, just with tape. Stick that all the way down. Now once you've got that nice and secure, you're going to organize your sea glass pieces on this with big pieces on the big rectangles, medium on medium, small on small obviously. We also have the names of the colors listed. So dark green, deep aqua, all the way into this frost white. So that will help you organize it into the hombre look that we're going for. So play around with it. Get it to a place where you like it. Switch pieces around until it's visually pleasing to you and you're really happy with it. Once you've got that all laid out how you like it and you have it centered on those little rectangles, we're going to start adhering the fishing line on to the backs of these sea glass pieces. So you'll need your line, and some tape first. Get my little line out. There we go. Now I am securing my line all the way off of this paper actually. So if you're going to err, you might as well have more length on this side where you're going to tie. Then secure it at the bottom. Down here you're just going to clip it off in the end anyway so it doesn't need to be all the way down that line. Let me clip it off here. I should mention also this fishing line is fishing line, so it will get tangled. If you keep it in the bag though, just pinch in the center and pull as you go, you can reduce a lot of heartache and tangles and it will make everything much easier. I promise. Alright. So my tape is nice and secure and I'm following that line as my guide. So now the next step is to get my glue out. Hold right here and tape the top and the bottom just in little dabs. Top....and the bottom. We hope you've enjoyed Sea Breeze from Apostrophe S. Make it yours. For the best DIY crafts that are both fun and easy, look no further than Apostrophe S. I use clear silicone to glue sea glass to glass to create sea glass mosaics. These mosaics are meant to hang in a window to allow the sun to shine through and show off the beautiful pieces of glass I find at the beach. Silicone has been the best choice for me - it sticks well, it dries clear and stays clear, it has no odor, and it dies slowly so I have lots of time to get the piece in the right spot before it sticks. I hope this video is helpful for you.

Click SHOW MORE to see more information about this project. If you like our video, be sure to click subscribe. We post a new craft video every week! How To Make A Sea Glass Candle We love candle making! We met Tommy Yaley at the Craft and Hobby Show. He and his family own and run Yaley Enterprises, makers of all kinds of candle making supplies. When we told Tommy that we wanted to do a video course in how to make candles, he helped us so much! He answered our questions and shared all his best tips and tricks. He also shared all kinds of candle making supplies! So as a big thank you to him and Yaley, we made this video showing how to use Yaley’s two-part mold to make an embedded candle. Thanks again Tommy! We love the look of an embedded candle. We’ve seen beautiful ones at Pottery Barn and Pier One using shells, flowers, and even starlight peppermints. These candles make such lovely gifts and they are even more wonderful when handmade by you! This is a fun candle to make and we’ll show you how! This candle requires a two-part mold. The inner mold makes a core candle. This is the candle that will actually melt when you burn this candle. After you make the inner candle, you set it inside the outer mold and add the embedments, then the wax. This keeps all the shells or sea glass or mints away from the burning canter of the candle. And also keeps these items on the outside of the candle where you can see them! To wick the inner core mold, start by covering the top edge of the mold with small pieces of masking tape. Feed the wicking through the hole at bottom of mold leaving about one inch of wick. Coil the end of the wick. Roll the mold sealer into a ball and press it over the coiled wick to seal the bottom of the mold. Tie other end of the wick to a pencil and prop it across the top of the mold. Trim off excess wicking. It is important that the wick is centered from top to bottom so you can safely burn your candle. It is also important to choose the right size wick for your candle. To determine the size of the wick for your candle, measure the diameter of your inner core mold. Then match that diameter with the wick packaging. The size of a wick refers to the diameter of the wick itself and how wide it will burn. It is important to choose a wick that will not burn too wide as you don’t want the burning part of the candle to reach the embedments. Once you have your inner core candle made, you can set it inside the outer mold and add the embedments and more wax. In this video, we will show you an extra trick to expose more of your embedments once the whole candle is unmolded. We use a heat gun to melt away a small amount of the wax. this lets more of the sea glass in our candle show. It works like a charm! We have an entire course on candle making at Curious.com. A very simple twist-based wire-wrapping technique perfect for flat, irregular objects such as beach glass (or seaglass). All you need is some round craft wire (20 or 22 ga), flush cutters and a pencil, but chain-nose and round-nose pliers help make it easier! Accompanying picture-text tutorial available at http://gaylebird.com/2010/11/07/how-t... My wire: https://amzn.to/2RaBeNr My tool recommendations: http://freeformwireartjewelry.com/wire-wrap-tool-recommendations/ February 20, 2012: Hey folks... new PDF tutorial based on this video available for download at http://www.jewelrylessons.com/tutoria... PS I recommend turning the sound OFF, as it's just the sound of the dehumidifier in my studio basement and it gets kinda annoying after a while. Sorry, I just don't have the editing chops to deal with this.. YET!

In this video I show you how I easily wrap beach glass to make a fabulous pendant. You can make it simple or super swirly...with my technique, you will have an elegant and professional bail with lots of room to add your own creative flair. In minutes you will have this mastered. Use a gauge of wire that will work well with the size of your object. 24 gauge (very small) to 18 gauge works well. Always use dead soft wire (the manipulation will work harden it). BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE IN-DEPTH INSTRUCTION VIDEO! FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCPG1JsD2r8 Making sea glass by tumbling it in a cement mixer. I am such a hick. Well it will never be a true sea glass because that is a chemical process we are unwilling to replicate but it makes a nice bulk substitute. NOTE: We have now filled all of our flower beds with it and other than being a pain to pick the cut grass and blown in leaves it has been great. The poor old mixer has taken a beating but is still going strong after new bearings. Some hints: Tumble wet, bout a gallon of H2O works well. Add a few smaller rocks to greatly speed the process, too big and they will pulverize the load, too small and they are hard to pick out. Think match box car size. Figure on 6-8 hours if you want a smoother sea glass look. It is LOUD, wrap the drum in an old blanket and tumble in your garage if you don't want to irritate the neighbors. You can toss in whole bottles and jars and they will break down but you will have to stop the mixer and add more again and again until it is full. We pre-break but are not overly anal about it. 3 1/2 5 gallon pails of glass is about right for my mixer. Bottles work but other than the bases the chunks get REAL small. Antique broken glass from old dump sites works well as does broken window glass 1/4 and thicker. The glass repair place more or less gave us whatever we wanted from their cast off and replacements, try them first. Some glass tumbles with a greenish tint, you can see it when broken. I don't like the finished look and tried to avoid it.
