Welcome to London - Tour around Covent Garden
Welcome to Covent Garden, London. I’m going to show you around and tell you what I know about this famous neighbourhood. Covent Garden is a popular place for tourists to visit in London, so I thought you’d like to see it. Native Londoners (like me) also go to Covent Garden just to walk around and to soak up the atmosphere. Join me as we learn about how this area was in the old days. I will tell you a little bit about the history of London -- how Covent Garden once used to be a very poor area and was considered to be a slum. You can now see how different it is -- there are many theatres and expensive shops. I wonder what it would have been like to be a flower seller in Victorian London. I had fun making this video for you -- hope you enjoy it! Take the quiz here: http://www.engvid.com/welcome-to-london-covent-garden#quiz TRANSCRIPT Hi, everyone. I'm Jade. In today's video, we're going for a walk around Covent Garden in London. It's one of London's famous areas, and it's known for entertainment and performers. So as we walk around, I'm going to tell you some of the things that I know about this area. Are you ready? Let's go. That's a cool shop! So here we are in Covent Garden. This area's really famous for theaters and street performers. And even though there are modern shops all around us and cafes, whenever I come here, I really get a sense of the old London, the London of 100 years ago or 150 years ago. At that time, too, there would have been street performers. And they would have sold roses and sung songs, songs like this, "Who will buy my sweet red roses? Such a sight you never did see." That song is from a musical called "Oliver". And that was written by Charles Dickens. So yeah. When I come to Covent Garden, I get a sense of all the history of London. Let's take a look at some of the performers. I don't know about you, but I think I've seen enough street performers now to last me a while. So I've taken you to a different part of Covent Garden because right behind me is a house where the great author Charles Dickens used to live. And do you know anything about Charles Dickens? Because he's one of our most famous writers. And he wrote at a time where London was pretty much poverty, disease, and misery for most Londoners. So we're really lucky to have the very different London that you see today. But I want to show you a part of Covent Garden so you can really imagine that time of Charles Dickens. Shoe distraction! Here we are at Seven Dials. It's a part of Covent Garden where there's a roundabout and seven streets coming off the roundabout. This place, in Victorian London, was a very different place. It was London's poorest slum. So it was one of London's worst areas. At that time, in a single house, as many as seven families lived. There was no electricity. There was no running water. So you can imagine it was a very dirty place. Also, there would have been a lot of crime around here because the families were very poor. These days, we see something really different. We see expensive boutiques. We see nice cafes. But at that time, the shops were called "rag and bone shops", and that means they didn't sell new things; they sold really, really old clothing that was almost falling apart, very, very old boots. So there was nothing new because this was a really poor area then. Because London is so old, we have secret alleyways like this. This is called "Neal's Yard", and it's actually one of my favorite places in Covent Garden because just down there, there are some cafes and really nice juice bars and things like that. But can you imagine how scary it would have been in Victorian times when all the people around here were a bit poor and a bit dodgy? But we're quite safe now. What I'm going to do now is get warm in one of those nice cafes there. And what you can do now is go and do the quiz for today's video on the EngVid website. If you enjoyed this tour around Covent Garden, thumbs up. And don't forget to subscribe. And I'd just like to say thanks for watching. See you later.

My trip to London 2017
in Jan. 2017 I went to London for the 3rd time. This time, I went alone. I also hired a car and visited framlingham castle. I met some new sides of the city I have not seen before and met some interesting and inspiring people and I've seen inspiring and wonderful places. Whilst traveling alone I had plenty of time to think about life and stuff, who I am and what I really want to do. And some people gave me good life advices. Though this city ist the dirtiest and smelliest city I've ever been to I'm falling for it, each time I return.

Shopping Areas of London, the United Kingdom - London Travel Tips
World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube London Travel Guide http://bit.ly/16S8LQh Shepherd Entertainment takes you on a tour of the Shopping Areas of London, such as Oxford Street in vicinity which is one of the busiest shopping districts in the world and Savile Row Street where tailors visibly prepare the world's most elegant suits. Visit the Shopping Areas of London in the United Kingdom Oxford Street in vicinity is one of the busiest shopping districts in the world. The semicircular section of Regent Street between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus is called the Quadrant. Numerous large department stores and famous shops buy in the street. For instance there's a world's largest toy store Hamley's but also worth mentioning are Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, and there's Selfridges. One of the largest British Departments Stores second only to Harrods. Just a few steps from here we find ourselves on Savile Row where tailors visibly prepare the world's most elegant suits. The easiest way to get around the 1625 kilometers of London is the underground or two best as it is popular be termed. The 11 lines are denoted by different colors with the total of 271 stops you can get just about anywhere in no time. The most common meeting place in London is the Statue of Eros in Piccadilly Square. The statue and fountains were designed by Alfred Gilbert in honor of the great humanitarian Lord Chasper. The street nearby also bears his name. The neon advertisements which have been illuminating the Square since 1910 after the vibrancy of Piccadilly. The sub ground level Criterion Theatre was originally the music gallery of the extravagant restaurant bearing the same name. The value of the richly gilded ornamentation is said to amount to more than one million pounds. Opposite we see the famous 19th century Concert Hall, the London Pavilion which has been enveloped by Trocadéro Building. Behind the original façade lies an ultra modern shopping center complete with eateries and places of entertainment. Trafalgar Square is named after the famous sea battle. Atop the 44 meter columns stands the statue of Admiral Nelson who prevented Napoleon's fleet from coming ashore in England. The statues of many military Commanders on Trafalgar Square seem insignificant compared to the four giant lion statues. The lions however, attained and peacefully tolerate children playing on them as well as the snapshots of tourists. The Square is also the geographic center of London and serves as the zero kilometer point from which distances from the city are measured. Just as on Saint Mark Square in Venice here too people feed the urban pigeons. The spray from the fountains is especially refreshing in the summer heat but the place is just as full of atmosphere under a blanket of snow in the winter months when Christmas and New Year celebrations are held here. Daniel Defoe the author of Robinson Crusoe was once set in a pillar over here for a polemic Essay he wrote on Religion. The National Gallery occupies the entire Northern side of the Square, since the mid 19th century the impressive building with it's dome in Corinthian columns has given home to one of the largest fine arts collections in the world. London UK Trip | Hi-Ttech and Cool Place to visit | Balakrishna G | Part 1
Hello Friends, I this video I am going to share pictures of my London trip which was in June 2016 to Sep-16. Though this was a summer for London but for us it was a cool and chilled climate. The morning temperature was about 12 degree and in noon about 16 degree. We were enjoying this climate a lot. Surprisingly, in London sunlight remains until 8 PM in night. Gradually, after 8 PM starts dark. London City is a cool and clean city. Well maintained and well disciplined. I really appreciate traffic rules. Everyone one obey traffic rules there and for bicycle they have a separate lane. They have a system of parking by-cycle which is manged by one of MNC bank. We just need to swipe 2 pounds form the lock and start. Again park to the destination parking and go on. Friends, this video is just the staring from Bangalore, India. We were just on the way to office and captures few pics in day and in he night walk. I will continue to additional video of this trip. So, enjoy this part 1 video and see you later on part 2 with amazing pics of London and surrounding places of London. Dear London | Letters to Places
Since my first trip in 2007, I have found myself repeatedly drawn back to London. On my most recent extended visit over a few months, I pulled out my camera whenever inspiration hit, and decided to write about that nagging desire to be and do everything in this beautiful city. This is my love letter to London. Catch me on social media... The track in this video belongs to the wonderful band Seoul, please check them out and buy their music. Seoul's soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/seoulmtl -- I was actually contemplating not going for my trip as things were actually pretty hectic back home (and with the currency drop, which if you're Malaysian will know things are going from bad to worse) and my anxiety was getting the best of me. I had a pep talk with Tasha, whom you've seen in 2 of my vlogs and I was off to good ol' London on July 1st. Eventually now I'm glad I took the trip, even with minimal amount of money, I made it work and had a pretty great time living off Sainsbury Meal Deals. What I love about London is the more private parts as I stayed in Finsbury Park, the borough of Islington. Taking walks in quite neighbourhoods and seeing home businesses was really nice from the commercial Central London. What made the trip most was seeing my friends. One of them Leni, who is from Australia. I've known her for six years, it was surreal to sit across from her and share with her so many stories we've collected. It was so weird to be able to hold her hand and laugh with her. I feel if I don't stop, this description bar is gonna have an essay. What I want to say is I'm grateful for everything I have. In it's merely simplicity, things are more than enough. I'm always looking at too big of a picture to realize that without the small, tiny, weird blobs of paint in a Monet painting, it wouldn't add up to be a masterpiece. Am I making sense? Probably not. Who cares really. Is anyone even reading this?

Memories & Impressions of my latest trip to London. The whole idea behind this was to not make yet another almost 'documentary' like video of a holiday.. but rather preserve moments, impressions and yes, in a way memories. Memories tend to be rather blurry most of the time anyway. We never remember what 'really' happened, but only an interpretation of the information (reality) we've been fed with. Coding, encoding, yadda yadda the whole deal. With that in mind I carried my camera around with me and instead of filming typical touristy attractions, I tried to focus on contrasts, on details. Show them in a different light by completely ignoring the general.. rules. Out of focus, movements, the whole deal. And yet, most importantly it still had to show 'my' trip. It's full with the memories I made and I interpret it in a different way than anyone else who might ever watch this. There's so much more I could write about this (and one day I might even do so in form of an essay uh who knows.) But this is it for now~~ Credit: Music by: springtide (http://freemusicarchive.org/music/springtide/) Song: N35-40-19-800 (http://freemusicarchive.org/music/springtide/This_is_the_End/N35-40-19-800) Video was planned, filmed and edited by me (https://www.youtube.com/user/JunPinkyHeaven)

London (United Kingdom) Vacation Travel Video Guide
✱ 2180 Hotels in London - Lowest Price Guarantee ► http://goo.gl/tuEtwR Travel video about destination London in England. London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts. The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison. After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created. The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began. Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex. The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us.
