How to Insert Into Table In SQL

02:46
Follow this step by step easy tutorial to learn how to insert data into the tables in SQL Server Database via queries. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ The data inside the database is held by the tables. The data can be inserted in these tables either by the queries or even with a straightaway Graphical method. In this tutorial we will see both the methods. Step 1 -- Locating the Appropriate Database First of all, we need to locate and expand the database where that particular table is present. After that, expand the table's directory. Then we will insert the data in the Inventory table. If we move into the column section, it can be seen that there are four fields which have to be added, namely the ID, the Product Name, the Quantity and the Price. Step 2 -- Writing query for inserting record Now to insert in table, SQL query would be: Insert into Inventory (id,Product, quantity, price) values (1,'abc',12,255.32); Make sure that each value is separated by a comma. Once done, simply press F5 to execute the query. At the bottom, in the messages section, a message will appear about table rows that have been affected. Step 3 -- Another Method of Insertion We can also insert data in a table by simply giving the values straight away. For that just write the following query: Insert into Inventory values (1,'ab2',30,300.36); Make sure that the values in query in SQL inserted into table are in the same order as the order of columns in the table. Now let's execute this query and in the messages section, you can see the rows that have been affected. To insert in table, SQL queries are required to be written with much care as error can arise if we just miss to insert ellipsis even. Step 4 -- Viewing Table Data Now let's check the table to see if the data has been inserted correctly. For that let us fetch all records from the inventory table and for that, write: Select * from inventory When we execute the query, you can see all the records in the results section below, and they are exactly the same as we mentioned in the query in earlier steps. Step 5 --Alternate Method of inserting data To insert in table, SQL provides another way through which we don't have to write SQL insert into table queries. For that, just right click on the inventory table and choose the 'Edit top 200 rows' option. Step 6 -- Inserting data in Fields Over here, we can start inserting the data in the table straight away, without using the queries. All we have to do is type the records in the fields and press enter to save the changes made in each field. And that is how data is inserted in tables in SQL using insert keyword.
Oracle SQL Tutorial 18 - How to Create Foreign Keys

07:09
In this video we are going to be creating foreign keys. I highly recommend watching the previous video before you watch this one. Essentially, we are creating a very simple database for a system where we can create projects and add people to those projects. We started with the users table: --Delete the table if needed: --DROP TABLE users; CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, CONSTRAINT users_pk PRIMARY KEY (user_id) ); Now we are going to create a table for projects with a column that is a foreign key to the username. We're going to want to make this match data types: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) ) Next, we need to add the column attributes we decided on last video: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL ) NOT NULL because we want every project to have a creator, but we are not labeling UNIQUE because that means we could only have a specific username once in the table. We want to allow a user to create multiple projects. We also need to add a primary key: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (username) ) Now, the question that remains is, how can I tell Oracle that I want the username to reference the username column of the other table? We have to make a foreign key constraint. As you've learned from the previous videos, there are about three ways to create constraints. You can do it inline at the column level, unnamed. You can do it at the column level, named, and you can do it at the Table level, named. Usually the table-level is preferred, but I will quickly remind you how to do all three again. CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL REFERENCES users (username), CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (project_id) ) This works, but if we want to name it, we should do this: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL CONSTRAINT projects_users_fk REFERENCES users (username), CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (project_id) ) This works, but the preferred method is to do it at the table level: CREATE TABLE projects( project_id NUMBER, project_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) UNIQUE, creator VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT projects_pk PRIMARY KEY (project_id), CONSTRAINT projects_users_fk FOREIGN KEY (creator) REFERENCES users (username) ) Great! So you've learned how to create a foreign key, now we can see it inside of Oracle SQL Developer. One important thing when it comes to foreign keys is what happens when have data in your database and you try to delete the parent row that a row in the child table references? In the next video we are going to configure that using ON DELETE. Oracle SQL Tutorial 11 - CREATE TABLE

05:04
The way you create a table is to use the CREATE TABLE command. CREATE TABLE users() So in this situation, the name comes right after the TABLE keyword. The next thing we do is put all of the columns on a line that we want to put in our table. CREATE TABLE users( user_id, username, first_name, last_name ) Notice the naming conventions here. For this series we are going to make columns with what is known as snake casing. This is where each individual word is separated by an underscore. if you have more than one column, all of them have to have commas except the last one. The comma is a way to say that another column is coming, so you don't need to do it on the last one. Now you would think we were done, but we also have to say what data type each column is. Later we will extensively discuss data types so we can focus on them exclusively. For now, here are the data types we are going to use: CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR2(50), first_name VARCHAR2(50), last_name VARCHAR2(50) ) Now, inside of the parenthesis for varchar2, we pass in a number... This is the max length of the string. But the question is, what is it measured in? The default is actually in bytes, not characters. For example if we have the string hello, it is 5 characters, but it might take up a total of 10 bytes of storage. So I would recommend adding the keyword char right after the number so it defaults to 50 characters, not bytes. CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR(50 CHAR), first_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR), last_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) ) This will work to create a table, but it's really missing a lot of information… which column is the primary key? Are we adding any indexes? Is there any thing else we need to say about these columns? So as you can tell, we are making progress, but there is still so much to learn. The biggest gotcha to remember from this video is that the data type VARCHAR ends in a 2, stupid, right? who would end the name of something with a 2? Once again, this is Caleb from CalebTheVideoMaker2, and we will catch you in the next one! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HELP ME! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

Part 12 Can we join two tables without primary foreign key relation

10:38
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2014/09/part-12-can-we-join-two-tables-without.html Can we join two tables without primary foreign key relation Yes, we can join two tables without primary foreign key relation as long as the column values involved in the join can be converted to one type. ID column in Departments table is not the primary Key and DepartmentId column in Employees table is not the foreign key. But we can still join these tables using ID column from Departments table and DepartmentId column from Employees table, as both the columns involved in the join have same data type i.e int. Select Employees.Name as EmployeeName, Departments.Name as DepartmentName from Employees join Departments on Departments.ID = Employees.DepartmentId The obious next question is, if primary foreign key relation is not mandatory for 2 tables to be joined then what is the use of these keys? Primary key enforces uniqueness of values over one or more columns. Since ID is not a primary key in Departments table, 2 or more departments may end up having same ID value, which makes it impossible to distinguish between them based on the ID column value. Foreign key enforces referential integrity. Without foreign key constraint on DepartmentId column in Employees table, it is possible to insert a row into Employees table with a value for DepartmentId column that does not exist in Departments table. The following insert statement, successfully inserts a new Employee into Employees table whose DepartmentId is 100. But we don't have a department with ID = 100 in Departments table. This means this employee row is an orphan row, and the referential integrity is lost as result Insert into Employees values (8, 'Mary', 'Female', 80000, 100) If we have had a foreign key constraint on DepartmentId column in Employees table, the following insert statement would have failed with the following error. Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint. The conflict occurred in database "Sample", table "dbo.Departments", column 'ID'.

SQL, short for Structured Query Language, is a language used by software developers, data scientists and anyone who works with data. With SQL, you can store data in relational databases and write queries to extract valuable information. There are various database management systems (DBMS) that support SQL but each product has its own implementation of SQL. In this course, we'll be using MySQL to learn SQL. MySQL is the most popular free and open-source database management system in the world. If you use a different DBMS (eg SQL Server), you can still benefit from this course as 90% of the skills you'll learn in this course can be transferred to other database management systems. The view then renders the data. Model can be entities or business objects. In part 7, we have built Employee entity. public class Employee { public int EmployeeId { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Gender { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } } In this video, we will discuss, retrieving data from a database table tblEmployee using entity framework. In a later video, we will discuss using business objects as our model. Step 1: Install entity framework, if you don't have it installed already on your computer. At the time of this recording the latest version is 5.0.0.0. Using nuget package manager, is the easiest way to install. A reference to EntityFramework.dll is automatically added. Open visual studio - Tools - Library Package Manager - Manage NuGet Packages for Solution Step 2: Add EmployeeContext.cs class file to the Models folder. Add the following "using" declaration. using System.Data.Entity; Copy & paste the following code in EmployeeContext.cs public class EmployeeContext : DbContext { // Replace square brackets, with angular brackets public DbSet[Employee] Employees {get; set;} } EmployeeContext class derives from DbContext class, and is responsible for establishing a connection to the database. So the next step, is to include connection string in web.config file. Step 3: Add a connection string, to the web.config file, in the root directory. Step 4: Map "Employee" model class to the database table, tblEmployee using "Table" attribute as shown below. [Table("tblEmployee")] public class Employee { public int EmployeeId { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Gender { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } } Note: "Table" attribute is present in "System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations.Schema" namespace. Step 5: Make the changes to "Details()" action method in "EmployeeController" as shown below. public ActionResult Details(int id) { EmployeeContext employeeContext = new EmployeeContext(); Employee employee = employeeContext.Employees.Single(x =] x.EmployeeId == id); return View(employee); } Step 6: Finally, copy and paste the following code in Application_Start() function, in Global.asax file. Database class is present "in System.Data.Entity" namespace. Existing databases do not need, database initializer so it can be turned off. Database.SetInitializer[MVCDemo.Models.EmployeeContext](null); That's it, run the application and notice that the relevant employee details are displayed as expected.

2.2 Campaign Management Basics - Key Concepts of Campaign Management

04:53
http://support.google.com/adwords/certification/bin/static.py?hl=en&guide=23621&page=guide.cs Key Concepts of Campaign Management The Campaigns tab is where you'll likely spent the most time in your AdWords account. From here you can: Receive alerts: You may see an alert box tinted yellow, green, or red. These alerts provide important information about your account and about new AdWords features - such as a declined payment. Create a new campaign: Click the New campaign button above the table to create a new campaign. Change campaign status and settings: Pause, resume, or delete campaigns, or edit campaign settings by checking the box to the left of one or more campaigns and then selecting one of the buttons above the table. Review the list of campaigns: This table displays summary data about all online campaigns in your account. Use the date range drop-down menus above the table to select the day or date range you'd like to review. You can also view all campaigns, all active campaigns, or all but deleted campaigns by clicking the appropriate link above the table. You can also refine your view of campaigns by choosing to view only enabled or only paused and enabled campaigns by using the controls above the table. Below are descriptions of each table column: Campaign: A list of your campaigns. Click the name of any campaign to see the ad groups within that campaign and any other relevant statistics. Budget: The current daily budget of each campaign. Status: The status of each campaign. A campaign's status can be Enabled, Paused, Deleted, Pending, or Ended: Enabled: Set to run normally Paused: Temporarily suspended and not currently running Deleted: Deleted and no longer running Pending: Not yet started running Ended: No longer running as end date has already passed Your campaign might also be: Limited by budget: View budget recommendations (if applicable) for campaigns that are missing impressions due to meeting their budget regularly. Clicks: The clicks accrued for the ads in each campaign Impr. (impressions): The number of times the campaign's ads have been displayed on Google or on sites in the Google Network CTR (clickthrough rate): The number of clicks divided by the number of impressions that the ads have received. This is expressed as a percentage: 2 clicks for 100 page views equals a 2% CTR. Avg. CPC (average cost-per-click): The average cost accrued for clicks on the ads within that campaign. Cost: The total costs that a campaign has accrued during the time frame you selected. Avg. Pos. (average position): This refers to the average position on a search result page that an ad appears in when it's triggered by that keyword. Conv. (1-per-click) (conversion rate): How many user clicks turned into actual conversions for the advertiser. Conversion rate equals the number of conversions divided by the number of ad clicks. This applies only to users who have set up conversion tracking. Cost/Conv. (1-per-click): The total cost divided by the total number of conversions. This tells you how much each conversion costs. This applies only to users who have set up conversion tracking. Conv. rate (1-per-click): Number of conversions divided by total clicks. This tells you your conversion rate. This applies only to users who have set up conversion tracking. The above table columns are shown by default; you can use column customization to add or remove metrics as you like. Here are the key features on the Campaigns tab: Account tree: Use this menu beside your account pages to switch between campaigns and ad groups. Performance summary graphs: Use these custom graphs to compare trends on every level of your account. Click the "Change Graph Options" link to see data points like clicks, impressions, and average position or to compare two of these metrics at once. Networks tab: This is where you manage your placements. You'll also see the summary statistics for both your Search and Display Networks. Campaign roll-ups: 'Roll-up' views let you see and edit all of a campaign's keywords, placements, or ads in one place, instead of finding and changing them ad group by ad group. You'll find roll-up views on the Keywords tab and Networks tab of your account. Dynamic help content: Help sections display the FAQs you most likely need for the page you're viewing. Of course, you can also always click the "Help" link in the top corner of your account to see the full AdWords Help Center. Here are some actions you can take on your Campaigns tab: Campaign and ad group creation workflow: Create new campaigns and ad groups with the New+ button at the top of any table. In-line editing: Edit ads, keywords, placements, and bids within the tables on the campaign and ad group tabs in your account. Just hover over a row to reveal the editable fields. Copy/move: A click of this button lets you copy and move keywords, placements, and ad groups between campaigns without leaving the campaign management interface.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to work with different options relating to import in Access. Step # 1 -- Selecting Excel To import data from Microsoft Excel, go to the "external data" tab in Access and click on the "excel" button in the "import & link" group. Click on the "browse" button to locate the file that is to be imported into "Access". Step # 2 -- Selecting the file to be imported Click on "file" and then click on the "open" button. This would be the excel file that would be imported to Access. Step # 3 -- Selecting number of sheets Once the file is selected click "next", the dialogue box will ask you to select the sheet you want import if you are using more than one sheet. Step # 4 -- Selecting heading option Click on the "first row contains column headings" if it is not there by default. You can always remove it if there no headings. Step # 5 -- Changing the data type The next part of the dialogue box lets you select the data type in every field before it is imported into Access. You can always change the data type afterwards if you want to. In this tutorial, we changed the "total" field data type from "text" to "currency". Step # 6 -- Setting the primary key In the next part of the dialogue box, select the primary key or let Access decide it for you. You can always select the primary key once the data has been imported but doing it now is recommended. Step # 7 -- Data imported into access Change the name of the file and open it to view the Excel file imported into the database. This is how you import excel in access. Step # 8 -- "Importing text file" Next we will import a text file into Access. To import a text file the procedure is absolutely the same with just one change; instead of pressing the "excel" button, press the "text file" button. Click on the browse button and select the file that has to be imported in to access. For this purpose, select a ".CSV" format file. Step # 9 -- Naming the table Now click on the Delimited option if it is not selected from before and then click on "next" to proceed forward. Now you can choose how you want the text to be separated. Change the data type of the columns before moving ahead. Change the 4th column to "currency" from "long integer". Once you are done, click "next". Again let Access decide the primary key for the table, then change its name and click "finish". Step # 10 -- View of the text file Double click on the table that you have created and view the data file that you have imported into Access. In this manner, you can import excel in Access.

QTP - Quick trick if QTP/UFT is not recognizing objects in your application.

http://www.joecolantonio.com/2013/09/26/qtp-uft-object-recognition-issues-with-net/ If you are like me the first thing I do when testing a new object with QTP is use the SPY to check out the files that I need to automate. If the QTP Spy has object recognition issues I rarely try to record against it. But in this case doing a quick throw away recording first actually helps.

Alter database table columns without dropping table Part 67

04:06
In this video, we will discuss, altering a database table column without having the need to drop the table. Let's understand this with an example. Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/08/part-67-alter-database-table-columns.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/09/part-67-alter-database-table-columns.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists We will be using table tblEmployee for this demo. Use the sql script below, to create and populate this table with some sample data. Create table tblEmployee ( ID int primary key identity, Name nvarchar(50), Gender nvarchar(50), Salary nvarchar(50) ) Insert into tblEmployee values('Sara Nani','Female','4500') Insert into tblEmployee values('James Histo','Male','5300') Insert into tblEmployee values('Mary Jane','Female','6200') Insert into tblEmployee values('Paul Sensit','Male','4200') Insert into tblEmployee values('Mike Jen','Male','5500') The requirement is to group the salaries by gender. To achieve this we would write a sql query using GROUP BY as shown below. Select Gender, Sum(Salary) as Total from tblEmployee Group by Gender When you execute this query, we will get an error - Operand data type nvarchar is invalid for sum operator. This is because, when we created tblEmployee table, the "Salary" column was created using nvarchar datatype. SQL server Sum() aggregate function can only be applied on numeric columns. So, let's try to modify "Salary" column to use int datatype. Let's do it using the designer. 1. Right click on "tblEmployee" table in "Object Explorer" window, and select "Design" 2. Change the datatype from nvarchar(50) to int 3. Save the table At this point, you will get an error message - Saving changes is not permitted. The changes you have made require the following tables to be dropped and re-created. You have either made changes to a table that can't be re-created or enabled the option Prevent saving changes that require the table to be re-created. So, the obvious next question is, how to alter the database table definition without the need to drop, re-create and again populate the table with data? There are 2 options Option 1: Use a sql query to alter the column as shown below. Alter table tblEmployee Alter column Salary int Option 2: Disable "Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation" option in sql server 2008 1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 2. Click Tools, select Options 3. Expand Designers, and select "Table and Database Designers" 4. On the right hand side window, uncheck, Prevent saving changes that require table re-creation 5. Click OK
