MYSTERIOUS Abandoned Places in Russia

10:07
From abandoned gulag camps in Siberia to ghost towns along the black sea, here are mysterious abandoned places in Russia Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 7.Marx Generator Hidden within a forest near Moscow is a strange, abandoned machine that might cause some confusion if you stumbled upon it one day. This massive configuration of tubes, and coils is what’s known as the Marx Generator and it’s a shockingly powerful machine. This strange device is capable of generating lightning bolts. At it’s peak performance, it was able to generate a discharge of lightning equal to all of the power generators in Russia, but for only a fraction of a second. It could create a bolt of lightning over 100 feet high, Why would the soviets build such a powerful, electrical device? This was to test how planes and other equipment would hold up against lightning strikes or to see how they would react against an electromagnetic pulse. The US had constructed a similar electronic pulse stimulator for the same reasons but it looks completely different! 6.Crimean Atomic Energy Station This unfinished construction project remains abandoned in Russia and it was set to be one of the bigger power plants in ukraine. After pripyat appeared to be a success until the meltdown, the Soviets thought they could build a similar one on the the Crimean peninsula but not all went according to planned. A town known as Shcholkine was built to house the workers who were building the project. However after the chernobyl power plant disaster, many scientists began to doubt the power plants design and started to double think its construction. Today the city and the site are completely abandoned. It’s better to not take a risk with the same design that contaminated a large part of the country. Other power plants have been abandoned due to association with the one in Chernobyl. 5.Siberian Diamond Mine Also known as the Mirny Mine, The USSR began searching for ways to make to make themselves a more economical stable and independent union. In 1955 the Soviets discovered large diamond deposit s at this site in the far away lands of Siberia and many people got to work very quickly in order to help bring wealth to the union. After about 20 years of operations, they finally decided that At one point this mine produced 10 million carats of diamonds a year and reaches a max depth of 524 meters or around 1700 feet making it the 2nd largest excavated hole in the world. The mine is so deep, airspace is closed over the hole due to helicopter crashes caused from the downward flow of air. It’s possible that controlling this diamond is mine is crucial to controlling the price of diamonds across the world. 4.Gagra, Russia Gagra is located along the Black sea and stretches 5 kilometers along the water. The subtropical climate made for a perfect location for Russians who wanted to escape the cold winters but with war in the area the town became quickly depopulated. In 1989 it had had a population of 26,636 but it was left as a lost paradise when hundreds of Georgian citizens were expelled from their homes and many were massacred, turning it into a complete ghost town. The war-torn land turned Ghagra from a beautiful tourist attraction to a grim dark place where many murders took place. Many still claim the land is still haunted to this day. 3.Lake Karachay Located in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast Region, near the border of Kazakhstan, it’s been home to quite a few accidents, releasing a deadly cocktail of hazardous radioactive elements into the water. The lake has also been known to dry up and spread radioactive dust in the wind! Lake Karachay has been a dumping ground for one of the Soviet Union’s biggest Nuclear weapons facilities and it wouldn’t be a good idea to even get close. It’s currently listed as a near surface and dry nuclear waste storage facility and it appears from google maps at least that the pollution has caused the entire lake to dry up. 2. Moscow Downtown While there is the Alexanderplatz in Berlin and Eiffel tower in Paris, you really won’t see more than just one skyscraper in western european cities. Here in this photo, we see the modern skyscrapers that literally look like they're scraping the skies. Although some of these skyscrapers are mainly vacant at the moment, Russia’s financial district proves to be at the very least, an impressive architectural achievement. Wealthy Russians can afford to live in these luxury high rise buildings, and enjoy the escape from the crowded city center. These unusual weather conditions allowed for some astonishing photos, with a mix of purple, gold and red. Here in this photo we see the Ostankino Tower, which is a television tower that rises amazing 1772 feet in the sky! It’s currently the tallest structure in continental Europe and remains the eighth tallest building in the world. 1...

Russia Is Profiting Off Global Warming | VICE on HBO

12:10
While many parts of the world are struggling from catastrophic effects of climate change, Russia is looking to capitalize on it, with the Kremlin driving a narrative that touts the economic benefits. Like more and faster access to petroleum and mineral reserves that were previously unreachable. The Northern Sea Passage, a legendary shipping lane along Russia’s Arctic coastline, has been largely inaccessible for part of the year because of dense sea ice. But now, that ice is melting, opening up a new trade route for Russia's cargo ships. Russian oil companies are already betting big on the new reserves they hope to find in the Russian Arctic, and other industries — like mining — are ramping up production since they now have faster shipping routes to many ports. “The problem of climate change is actually the problem of adaptation to climate change. This is not a tragedy,” said Nobel Prize-winning climatologist Oleg Anisimov. “Certainly some places will become unlivable, but other areas are places that will become more livable.” But the Russian people seem unaware, or unconcerned, about the environmental impacts of these climate change-related activities, like pollution from the booming factories, and wildfires in the North that destroyed million of acres of forest in a major tourism area. VICE’s Gianna Toboni visited Russia's Arctic to see just how big the country is betting on climate change. Black snow falls in Russian cities

00:57
The Office of the Public Prosecutor of the Kemerovo region of Russia is looking into reports about black snow the fell in a number of settlements of the region. The cause of the unusual phenomenon is believed to be the emission of coal dust at a local coal processing factory. Local residents share photos and videos of the streets covered with a layer of coal dust that looks like black snow. People even launched a flashmob in which they try to assure others that the snow in their town is the blackest. Residents of the town of Kiselevsk complain that there is no white snow in the town at all, and everything in the town is covered with a fine layer of coal dust. Some even say that such a phenomenon is normal for coal mining settlements. The authorities hold special meetings, in which they discuss ways to combat the emission of coal dust, such as anti-dust cannons, barriers and dust cleaning equipment. Russians Mourn for Victims of Black Sea Plane Crash

01:55
Mourners congregated outside the offices of the Alexandrov Ensemble, the renowned choir of the Russian Armed Forces, to pay tribute to the members who were killed in a deadly plane crash in the Black Sea on Sunday. The choir lost 64 members and its head conductor Valery Halilov when the Russian military Tu-154 aircraft, carrying 84 passengers and eight crew members, crashed into the Black Sea after taking off from the resort city of Sochi on Sunday. The doomed plane had been heading to a Russian military base in the Syrian port city of Latakia where the choir was scheduled to perform at New Year celebrations next week. "I am familiar with most of the victims. I was in the choir for over a year. I know almost all of them, especially Artem [a victim]. I am here to mourn for all those killed in the crash," said Cergey, a former member of the Alexandrov Ensemble. A local musician said the Alexandrov Ensemble, as Russia's largest army choir, has suffered immeasurable losses from the deadly crash. "Music is their [the victims] utmost pursuit. They have absolutely and honestly fulfilled their professional duties and made great contributions to the choir. The plane crash is so horrible. Many people have cried and felt sad for them. They are artists, cultural workers and intellectuals. Their deaths are great losses to Russia," said Albert, a musician in Moscow. The ill-fated plane vanished from radar screens shortly after taking off from an airfield in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi at 05:40 Moscow Time. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, fragments of the aircraft were later discovered some 1.5 kilometers off the coast of Sochi at a depth of 50 to 70 meters. Russia's Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into the crash. Based on preliminary information, the misfortune was caused by some form of technical malfunction or pilot error, a law enforcement source was quoted as saying. The Tu-154 is a three-engine medium-range airliner produced by Russian aerospace and defense company Tupolev. It is one of the fastest civilian aircraft in use and has been widely used in extreme Arctic conditions. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20161225/8039432.shtml#!language=1 Subscribe us on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CCTVPlus CCTV+ official website: http://www.cctvplus.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cctv-news-content Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewsContent.CCTVPLUS Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCTV_Plus
7 Mysterious UNDERWATER Cities

09:10
7 Submerged Cities and Settlements From mysterious building found at the bottom of a lake left for centuries to cities which were only previously thought to exist in the realms of fantasy to a...Russian Atlantis these are 7 Underwater Cities. Audio production provided by JaM Advertising www.tasteofjam.com Fuxian Lake is a 212sq km body of water which stretches over three separate counties in southwest China, and for centuries locals who lived on its shores told of the strange sights they had witnessed within its waters. For centuries many believed the ancient city of Heracleion was a myth, consigned to the realms of fantasy along with Atlantis, Valhalla, and wherever the little Mermaid lived. Heracleion was mentioned in the works of the Greek historian Herodotus as somewhere visited by Helen of Troy, but in Greek mythology she was the daughter of Zeus, so this didn’t really help lend the city an air of credibility. Whilst some of the cities on this list were mysteriously lost to the ocean deep, we know exactly what happened to the Chinese city of Shicheng – the government flooded it on purpose in 1959. At nearly 5000 years old the city of Pavlopetri is the oldest underwater settlement humanity has ever discovered, and after sinking sometime around 1000BC these aquatic ruins provide a fascinating snapshot into stone-age life. Phanagoria was a huge Greek city located in modern-day Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region, and whilst some of its ruins can be found on land, approximately a third can be found at the bottom of the Black Sea. An old Welsh legend tells the story of a legendary 6th Century Prince known as Helip ap Glanawg whose kingdom straddled much of modern-day North Wales. The tales mention how Helip had a giant palace built in the area today known as Conwy Bay, but it was destroyed after a storm struck the area and it became flooded by the sea, completely submerging both the palace and surrounding city. Remember how we said Pavlopetri was the oldest known underwater city? Well technically it still is, but only because archaeologists are still arguing over the age of another submerged city found in India’s Gulf of Cambay.

Russia's New Cruise Missile Could Threaten U.S. Cities (And Much More) SUBSCRIBE ►http://bit.ly/2FGURX1 #Welcome to the ALNEWS Channel! ====================================================================== Kalibr has two qualities that worry Western navies. First, they are sea-skimming sea missiles, flying over the water to avoid radar detection and thus giving their targets less time to shoot them down or jam down. But the bigger problem is the sheer proliferation of Kalibrs, which can be fitted to even small Russian warships through standardized vertical launch tubes. The company accounts for over 3.6% of Russia's GDP and handles 39% of the total freight traffic (including pipelines) and more than 42% of passenger traffic.[212] The total length of common-used railway tracks exceeds 85,500 km (53,127 mi),[212] second only to the United States. Over 44,000 km (27,340 mi) of tracks are electrified,[213] which is the largest number in the world, and additionally there are more than 30,000 km (18,641 mi) of industrial non-common carrier lines. Railways in Russia, unlike in the most of the world, use broad gauge of 1,520 mm (4 ft 11 27⁄32 in), with the exception of 957 km (595 mi) on Sakhalin island using narrow gauge of 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in). The most renown railway in Russia is Trans-Siberian (Transsib), spanning a record 7 time zones and serving the longest single continuous services in the world, Moscow-Vladivostok (9,259 km (5,753 mi)), Moscow–Pyongyang (10,267 km (6,380 mi))[214] and Kiev–Vladivostok (11,085 km (6,888 mi)).[215] As of 2006 Russia had 933,000 km of roads, of which 755,000 were paved.[216] Some of these make up the Russian federal motorway system. With a large land area the road density is the lowest of all the G8 and BRIC countries.[217] Much of Russia's inland waterways, which total 102,000 km (63,380 mi), are made up of natural rivers or lakes. In the European part of the country the network of channels connects the basins of major rivers. Russia's capital, Moscow, is sometimes called "the port of the five seas", because of its waterway connections to the Baltic, White, Caspian, Azov and Black Seas. Yamal, one of Russia's nuclear-powered icebreakers [218] Major sea ports of Russia include Rostov-on-Don on the Azov Sea, Novorossiysk on the Black Sea, Astrakhan and Makhachkala on the Caspian, Kaliningrad and St Petersburg on the Baltic, Arkhangelsk on the White Sea, Murmansk on the Barents Sea, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vladivostok on the Pacific Ocean. In 2008 the country owned 1,448 merchant marine ships. The world's only fleet of nuclear-powered icebreakers advances the economic exploitation of the Arctic continental shelf of Russia and the development of sea trade through the Northern Sea Route between Europe and East Asia.

ALERT - Russia's New Cruise Missile Could Threaten U.S. Cities (And Much More)

10:26
Russia’s navy is developing a new version of the sea-launched Kalibr cruise missile with double the range. Current versions of the Kalibr have ranges up to about 1,200 miles, depending on the variant. “The newest high-precision ship-based Kalibr-M cruise missile with a maximum firing range of more than 4,500 kilometers [2,800 miles] is being developed for the Russian Navy,” an unnamed Russian defense industry source told Russian news agency TASS . “The creation of the rocket is at the stage of scientific research and financed by the Ministry of Defense.” “The source added that the new missile will differ from the existing Kalibr missiles in service both in terms of its longer range and dimensions,” according to TASS. “‘It will be much larger, the weight of its warhead will approach 1 ton,’ he said.” The missiles will first be assigned to frigates, then other large surface vessels and submarines. “Kalibr-M is designed to destroy land facilities and will be able to carry both conventional and nuclear warhead,” the source said. The source added that the project is part of GPV 2027, Russia’s ten-year weapons procurement program, and that “the rocket must be transferred to the fleet before the end of the program.” Presumably, this means that the upgraded Kalibr will be fielded before 2027. Kalibr is Russia’s multipurpose naval cruise missile, or rather a family of missiles, including anti-ship variants and anti-submarine rocket-torpedoes (to add to the confusion, export models of Kalibr are known as “Klub”). But most prominent is the 3M-14 series (also known as the SS-N-30), subsonic ship- and submarine-launched land attack cruise missiles similar to the U.S. Tomahawk. A 2015 U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence report describes the 3M-14 thus this way: “Equipped with a 450 kilogram [992 pound] conventional warhead, waypoint navigation, and a 300-kilometer range, the 3M-14E delivers a high range of land-attack options for ships, submarines, aircraft, and ground launchers...the reported operational range for the Kalibr family 3M14 SS-N-30 LACM is 300 to 1,500/2,500 kilometers (160 to 930/1,550 miles).” Thank you for watching. Summer in Odessa, Ukraine - Beaches and sights (July 2016)

04:50
Odessa (Ukrainian spelling: Одеса, Україна) is Ukraine's third largest city, located on the Black Sea coast. Odessa is a major seaport and transportation hub and an attractive tourist destination. Mainly frequented by Ukrainian and Russian tourists, Odessa is known for its beaches, clubs, nightlife, but also for cultural events. There is a huge variety of restaurants and bars, catering to all culinary tastes. In this video, you can see some footage from my visit to Odessa in July 2016. The beaches shown in the video are Langeron Beach and Arcadia Beach. The beach club in the last part of the video is Ibiza Beach Club on Arcadia Beach, an upscale location with nice swimming pools and great Ibiza style house music, but comparatively high prices for drinks and loungers. The water quality of the Black Sea was quite poor. The water was oily and contained plenty of algae. It was better to use the swimming pools of the beach clubs. English was not widely spoken, as the tourist industry is fully oriented towards Russian visitors. We left the city with mixed feelings. There were lots of good restaurants and cultural attractions and we enjoyed walking along the beaches. The area around the Opera House and Potemkin stairs was really nice. Odessa's pop-up coffee trucks provided great refreshments at very affordable prices. However, we would not recommend Odessa for a proper beach holiday. Compared to other beach towns in Europe, the infrastructure just doesn't meet certain standards yet. -------------------- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/grazandbeyond/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/grazandbeyond/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo6Q2-oVQCOj3oPCQ4cGVSw Graz and beyond - Blog: http://www.grazandbeyond.com/ -------------------- Music: Kenno - The Beach (Original Mix) Soundcloud: http://www.soundcloud.com/kenno Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4fPQVQAFiRySPSBTpr68W1 Thanks to Kenno for his permission to use his great track for this video!

Moscow shivers, but it's beach time on the Black Sea

01:06
http://www.euronews.com/ With a month of snow falling in just 24 hours spring still seems far away for Moscow residents. It is the heaviest March snowfall in 50 years which, even for a city used to winter extremes, is proving tiresome for residents. However for some, it is no big deal. Try living in Siberia, for example, said one man: "You haven't seen our winter! It is very snowy, with snowdrifts higher than a man. This snowfall isn't serious for us. We will definitely survive it." Back in his home region Krasnoyarsk had half a metre of snow. "We had lots of snow overnight. Snow-covered cars were stuck on the roadside," said one man brandishing a large shovel. But in Tomsk it was a positively balmy four degrees, bringing problems of its own, with flooding. Such is Russia's size there is a lot of weather about, and it changes constantly. Near the Black Sea it is 25 degrees, with everything bursting into blossom. 5 Mysterious Things Found in Siberia

10:37
Siberian, in Russia, stretches west to east from the Ural Mountains to the North pacific ocean, and from north to south from the Ural Mountains to Mongolia. That's 3500 miles by 2100 miles. It covers 10% of the earth’s land mass and is completely covered by snow from November through to February. Although large parts of Siberia are populated by humans, there is a huge radius which remains desolate. Obviously, a large chunk of land, which is rarely visited over thousands or even millions of years, must yield some interesting long lost artefacts or remains. Here are five amazing Siberian finds. - - - - - - - I appreciate all the support I get from my subscribers through sharing, comments and likes. Anomalous snowfall with bugs in Russia

01:02
In the village of Balasheika, which in located in the Samara region of Russia, the locals were very surprised to see myriads of snow fleas on the ground on March 12. The townsfolk decided that the insects fell from the sky during a snowfall. It appeared that it was black snow that fell on the ground, but the snow was live. According to eyewitnesses, everything was literally dotted with small black creatures. Specialists assumed that the insects found themselves in the region during the passage of a cyclonic field. They could have been brought in with air masses from the south, possibly from Kazakhstan. However, this is a common phenomenon that one may observe in central Russia quite frequently. These creatures are known as Collembola springtail insects, and they do not fall down from the sky. They crawl from under the ground to the surface, and they will return there as soon as it gets warmer. These insects are absolutely safe for humans, domestic animals and grain crops. They may emerge on the ground surface too early, when it gets unusually warm for a few days. Algerian Capital Algiers is probably The Most Beautiful City in Africa

07:24
DONATE 👉(https://www.paypal.me/africanInsider) Algiers is the capital city of Algeria, on the country’s Mediterranean coast. Algeria is a rich country by African Standards. It has a GDP of more than $ 150 Billion and a per Capital of USD $ 4827. This is due to the fact that Algeria is the 4th largest gas exporter in the World behind Russia, Qatar and Iran. ............ Algiers (Al-Jazaïr) never fails to make an impression. This is a city of rare beauty and of thrilling, disorientating and sometimes brutal contrast. The country's turbulent history is writ large in the city's richly textured architecture: wide French-built boulevards and elegant apartments and villas, Socialist-era monuments and public buildings, and an enduring Islamic heart secreted in the steep, hillside Casbah. Labyrinthine streets spill down to the yawning big blue of the Bay of Algiers, sea and sky and green ravines glimpsed at every step. Though people often spend just enough time in Algiers to organise an onward journey, it’s a fascinating place well worth at least a couple of days’ exploration. Internationally Algeria is a key and strategic ally to the USA, Russia, Canada, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistani, India, China, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Mexico, Cuba, Germany, Sweden, Qatar, UAE, England(United Kingdom) and India. .................................... Algeria is also home to Mbappe's mother, Zinadine Zidane's parents and many Algerian-French players.

Being located on the Black Sea coast, Sochi is the only large city in Russia in a subtropical climate zone, enjoying approximately 300 days of sunshine a year with an average temperature of 66 F. The Greater Sochi region includes several areas along the coast and up in the Caucasus Mountains, together with the administrative centre in Sochi itself. The total territory is about 1,361 sq mi and the city sprawls for 90 mi along the shore. For a long time Sochi was mostly known as a beach resort and was even called “the summer capital of Russia”. Today the city is a developing center of ski tourism, and also promotes itself as a venue for major sports and business events.

Chinese border town thriving on Russian trade

08:20
The fact Chinese President Xi Jingping chose Russia as his first foreign visit is no surprise to some. The two countries have been strengthening ties for many years. Tourism's growing, there's talk of increasing energy cooperation, and in 2011 trade volume between the two topped 80 billion dollars, a figure expected to double in a few years. North China's Heihe city is literally at the front line of this cross border trade. Bordering Russia's Far Eastern city of Blagoveshchensk, the fast growing town is building its economy on Beijing's newfound love for Moscow.

Lazika project scares Russians

00:59
Lazika project scares Russians The project of a new resort city, the construction of which begins this year in Samegrelo Region, Georgia, has scared Russians. Political analysts and media believes that Russia`s investments made in the development of Olympic Villages in the seaside resort of Sochi, will be just a waste of funds and time, as Lazika will be the project which will attract tourists in the region. The author of an analytical article published on Russianrealty.ru website, Albert Akopyan says he sees no chances of the development of Sochi; the investments will not be profitable as the business sector has already confirmed this. According to experts, teh hotels in Sochi will lack visitors after the Winter Olympics 2014, as the development of the seaside resort needs not only hotels, but development of tourism, shopping tours, food and wine tours, which do not work in Sochi currently. Akopyan says Lazika will be the second success of Georgian tourism after Mestia, adding the new airport in Zugdidi grew the prospects of the resort development. The journalist emphasizes the speed, sort and the low prices of construction business, which finally is reflected on the price of product. Akopyan says the president of the neighbor country will organize to bring international festivals to the new city of Lazika from Europe and the Black Sea states, which diminishes the prospect of Sochi development as a resort
