I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific. I am sailing Tarka around the world in part to raise money and awareness for coral conservation by supporting the Coral Reef Alliance. Yacht in Storm | Sailing Wild Waves

02:34
Yacht in Storm | Sailing Wild Waves The most common Yacht fall into storms and hurricanes in the western Atlantic. The most dangerous area is located between the sailing center of New England and Bermuda , Florida and the Caribbean. Yachtsmen from Bermuda say that in the winter in the Atlantic are found severe storms , which are no less dangerous than hurricanes . Such storms can last for three days with wind of 85 knots , which is much greater than the force of a hurricane. Yachts can not always come out unscathed from such severe storms. This storm has once again confirmed that the wind and waves to predict the hurricane force of events impossible. Getting Boarded At Sea - Ep. 82 RAN Sailing

18:02
With just 15 Nm to go to our destination in Panama we see a naval ship on the horizon changing course and heading straight towards us. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? Seasickness & Round tour of the boat - Ep. 4 RAN Sailing

11:36
The storms keep coming and we're stuck on Vlieland. Two days later there is finally a gap in the weather and we leave to sail to The Hague in the south part of The Netherlands. We meet heavy rain, winds of 25 knots gusting to 30 and high and steep waves outside Vlieland. Not a good start of a 15 hour leg! Malin get sea sick and is out for the rest of the day. We arrive to Scheveningen Marina in The Hague at midnight and can finally get some good rest. The next couple of days we walk in to the center, clean the boat and give you guys a round tour of the boat. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter, January 2016, and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. NIGHTMARE AT SEA!!! (everything goes wrong) Ep. 119

15:17
Drifting out to sea, in 40 knots of wind, attached to another vessel by anchor chain. We had to be rescued by the coast guard that turned out to be an extremely old fishing boat. The Meltemi wind was blowing a steady 35 - 40 knots all day, we were safely anchored in a sheltered bay UNTIL... another boat anchored on top of our anchor and off we went, attached to one another, just avoiding running into a super yacht in the anchorage and then out to sea. The video is pretty self explanatory. I'm going to save my energy in writing a huge description to go a grab a well earned beer. What a day. The worst day of my whole life. What would you do, in case of a Pirate Attack at Sea? (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep. 39

13:53
More about the pirate scare! Please comment and let us know what you would do in the case of a pirate attack out at sea. The next 150nm of ocean until we reached the Galapagos Islands was quite enjoyable. We saw the most incredible things in the water, I started hearing things and Riley got a tiny little crab in his ear after scraping the hull. Each day we spend on the water these days seems to be full of surprises. As the sun was rising, I spotted the island of San Cristobal. Seals galore. They stuffed up my salad (A SALAD) and the world gets to see grumpy Elayna. Muddy shoe walkers leaving muddy tracks onboard. Surrounded by bird watching/explorer humans in cargo gear. I wonder what adventures tomorrow may bring. Thanks for watching, and for those on Patreon supporting my art. Australian Couple Living on a Sailboat & Traveling the World

05:53
In this video we meet Elayna & Riley, an Australian couple living on a sailboat. Their boat, the SV La Vagabonde, is a 43.4 foot Beneteau Cyclades that Riley bought in Italy. The couple have been living on the boat for over a year, and sailed it from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, with a fairly smooth Atlantic crossing in between. Once they get their fill of the Caribbean they'll be sailing to Australia and possibly continuing on from there to do a complete circumnavigation of the globe. On board they have 2 flexible solar panels and a wind generator for power, and a water maker to turn salt water into fresh drinking water. The couple had very little sailing experience to start with but they learned the ropes quite quickly. We would be hesitant to do the same without taking some sailing courses but it seems to have worked out really well for these guys; and we love watching videos of their adventures. You can follow them on YouTube & via their blog: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZdQjaSoLjIzFnWsDQOv4ww http://sailing-lavagabonde.com You can also see a tour of their sailboat here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKm2FX9kKZ4 Thanks for watching! Best Deep Sea Fishing Of Our Lives!- Sailing SV Delos Ep. 92

19:03
Sailing to Madagascar, woooo hooo!!!! We leave the amazing Chagos Archipelago and set sail for Madagascar about 1,500 miles away. Just over a week into the passage we pass through an area of shallows known of the Mascarene Plateau. It's an interesting place because in the middle of the Indian Ocean the depth rises from 2,000 meters to 20 meters. In some places it's even boat smashing coral reefs so we need to be extra careful with our navigation. In fact the Team Vestas Volvo Ocean Race boat wrecked very close to here. As we pick our way through the shallow spots the fish alarm starts hitting BIG! We're talking multiple hits with Mahi, Tuna, and Wahoo. We're pulling them in faster than we can filet them. It's by far the best fishing day we've had in our lives! We finish the day off with an incredible Sushi dinner courtesy of Babs mad cooking skills. This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing, but it's also a story about the fantastic people we meet and amazing places we see. It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful people and amazing planet that we call home. Our experience has affected us so profoundly we want to share it, hoping that others may find inspiration to follow their dreams and do what they love. Northern California has a storied, 500-year history of sailing. But despite this rich heritage, scientists and boat designers continue to learn more each day about what makes a sail boat move. Contrary to what you might expect, the physics of sailing still present some mysteries to modern sailors.

Buying a Sailboat - Survey, Haul-Out & Sea Trial

13:14
Find more details and info in the article on our site here: http://www.gonewiththewynns.com/buying-a-sailboat-survey-sea-trial Our offer has been accepted on a Leopard 43 Catamaran and the next step in the process is a Survey, Haul-Out and Sea Trial. We've hired a guy named Brian Stetler out of Jupiter, Florida for the survey and it's his job to find the big stuff that might be wrong with this sailboat. Turns out Brian is extremely thorough and the day is action packed with issues, at sea repairs and plenty of learning opportunities along the way. *This video is not an endorsement for anyone or sponsored by any company. Rough Seas, Strong Winds! Hang onto your knickers! (Sailing Nandji) Ep 102

22:36
Huge Rough Seas, Strong 30 knot winds on the nose, all makes a difficult up wind Offshore 400nm passage! https://www.sailingnandji.com This video is a in depth view of what life at sea is really like and the problems faced at all hours of the night. This week on Sailing Nandji, the time has come to depart the beautiful island of Wayag. The upwind passage of 400nm to the city of Ambon was no easy task. The strong trade winds however had been howling through the area for over a week and showed no sign of easing. We put on our PFDs and big boy pants and tackled the rough seas. With strong winds of 30 knots on the nose, it made for some challenging sailing at first. Then days into the passage, the wind disappears and we are left with our broken motor drifting at sea for days... NANDJI"S NEW MOTOR If you wish to contribute towards our campaign of getting Nandji a new engine in 2 months time, then please donate to the link below! Shhh my real name is Jarrad! Thanks for the help in making this project of ours a reality! https://www.paypal.me/SailingNandji We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have been in Indonesia for a couple of months cruising and our now high tailing to Malaysia for boat work. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades! Indian Ocean next!
