The Giant Wave - The Perfect Storm (3/5) Movie CLIP (2000) HD
The Perfect Storm movie clips: http://j.mp/1CP5FdV BUY THE MOVIE: http://bit.ly/2cyVSFT Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: Bobby (George Clooney) struggles against the storm at the wheel of his boat. FILM DESCRIPTION: In October 1991, a dying tropical hurricane from Bermuda collided with a cold front from the Great Lakes, resulting in a "perfect storm" of previously unknown destructive impact that resulted in 100-foot waves; tragically, the crew of a fishing boat was lost in the midst of the fearsome storm. Based on the best-selling book by Sebastian Junger, The Perfect Storm tells the story of the ship's brave and hard-working crew. Billy Tyne (George Clooney), captain of the Andrea Gail, hasn't had much luck finding catch on his most recent trips to sea, and with money short, he and his crew -- Bob Shatford (Mark Wahlberg), Dale Murphy (John C. Reilly), and David Sullivan (William Fichtner) set out again when they hear that the fish are running. Billy's hunch proves correct, but when the ship's refrigeration system goes haywire, they have to return to shore as quickly as possible before the fish spoil, sending them into the middle of the worst storm in history. The supporting cast includes Mary Elziabeth Mastrantonio, Diane Lane, Bob Gunton, and Karen Allen; Wolfgang Petersen, whose breakthrough film was the aquatic wartime drama Das Boot, directed. CREDITS: TM & © Warner Bros. (2000) Cast: George Clooney, William Fichtner, John Hawkes, John C. Reilly, Mark Wahlberg Director: Wolfgang Petersen Producers: Alan B. 5 Biggest Tsunami Caught On Camera
5 Mega Tsunami Caught On Camera — Enjoy the video. Rate, Comment, Share... Thanx For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Tsunamis are giant waves caused by earthquakes or volcanic eruptions under the sea. Out in the depths of the ocean, tsunami waves do not dramatically increase in height. But as the waves travel inland, they build up to higher and higher heights as the depth of the ocean decreases. The speed of tsunami waves depends on ocean depth rather than the distance from the source of the wave. Tsunami waves may travel as fast as jet planes over deep waters, only slowing down when reaching shallow waters. While tsunamis are often referred to as tidal waves, this name is discouraged by oceanographers because tides have little to do with these giant waves. The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami was triggered by a 9.3 magnitude earthquake with the initial surge wave of the tsunami measuring 33 metres. It was the largest earthquake-generated tsunami in history. Certain places in the world are subject to earthquakes and tsunamis more than others as there are only seven tectonic plates covering the earth and the borders of these plates lie in certain areas. 'Thunder Child's' sea trials in storm force conditions.
Here's a cool video of 'Thunder Child' undergoing rough weather trials in the recent storms. We managed to get some really great footage of her in 50kt winds and 6m waves, during which she handled fabulously. Happy to say her Caterpillar engines have run faultlessly since launch, essential in these extreme conditions.

If You Swim in Square Waves, Your Life Is in Danger!
There are some waves that you really don’t ever want to encounter when you’re swimming in the ocean. Square waves look like a giant chess board over the ocean. It's pretty awesome but incredibly dangerous. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - If you look off the western coast of France, you’ll see the Isle of Rhe. The coolest part about it is what you see just beyond the shore: square waves. This strange wave pattern looks like a giant chess board over the ocean. - When two different swells coming from opposite directions meet, it’s known as a cross sea. This is what generates these square waves you see near the Isle of Rhe. - Because these two seas have totally different weather conditions, a unique pattern emerges when they collide. They create a riptide that’s stronger than your average wave - way stronger than what you’ve probably experienced at the beach with regular waves. - There have been a handful of cases where people got caught in the cross sea, but, thankfully and luckily, they managed to get out safely. - These square waves have become somewhat famous over time given that there’s really no other place in the world that boasts a cross sea like this one. - The Boiling Lake on the Island of Dominica is one body of water you’ll definitely want to stay away from. From high heat to strong gas emissions, there are plenty of reasons to stay out of The Boiling Lake. - You’ll probably want to steer clear of the town of West End on Grand Bahama Island. This deadly beach is known for being one of the most shark-infested beaches in the world. - While the south and west coasts of Barbados are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, the east and north beaches have incredibly strong tides that can be quite treacherous. - Condado Beach in Puerto Rico is a desirable destination in the city of San Juan. However, the beach’s mighty waves and powerful current make this a very dangerous place to go swimming. Storm SMASHES Kaş harbour - Sailing A B Sea (Ep.053)
In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we make a run for the safety of Kaş Marina as the wind and waves of a huge storm smashes Kaş harbour. The day before the storm smashes Kaş harbour we get warnings from the harbour master and several captains of neighbouring gulets. When the Turkish coast guard relocated their vessel from the harbour to the marina we knew things were about to get serious. life inside a wave washed lighthouse out to sea.
This is my video record of what it was like on a wave washed lighthouse out to sea. This was filmed in 1994 on video tape. The object was to try and record for posterity the passing way of life of us Lighthouse Keepers. The Hanois Lighthouse is just off Guernsey in the Channel Islands, G.B....No scripts, we aren't actors and there are 3 Keepers doing 28 days on board followed by 28 days at home, with two crews so the place was manned 24/7 365 days of the year. I have deliberately not put music to this to try and give you the feel of what it was like, hope you enjoy it.

Parachute Sea-Anchor History -- for storms & sportfishing
In 1947, Gerrard Fiorentino, a verteran commercial fisherman, pioneered the concept of converting surplus military parachutes into sea anchors. Fiorentino outfitted his new modern sea anchors to the commercial fishing fleets up and down the West Coast of the United States. By 1958, these modified parachute anchors were in use all around the world. Original, historic photos & video showcase Fiorentino's career and equipment. THE EARLY YEARS: Fiorentino, a commercial fisherman by the age of 14, descends from a long line of seaman, clipper captains and master riggers in Genoa Italy. One of Fiorentino's first boats was the 87' Santo Antonino that he purchased with his father Valentino Fiorentino. A self taught man, Fiorentino used his natural engineering abilities to dramatically impact the commercial fishing industry by modifying existing boating equipment and inventing entirely new equipment. Fiorentino's accomplishments include designing the world's first 56" power block, and creating or modifying purse blocks, anchor winches, seine winches, and black cod holders. Shortly after he was released from the Navy in 1946, Fiorentino pioneered the concept of converting a military parachute into an underwater drift control device; He then spent much of his life at sea experimenting with various rigging techniques. In fact, it was a common practice for he and his crew members to deploy a para-anchor over 50 times in a single season. And, after 200 actual storm deployments off the Western Pacific, Eastern Pacific and South American Coasts, Fiorentino has learned that the para-anchor's rigging system is key to its success. Once Fiorentino developed a safe rigging system, the young entrepreneur cashed in on his new discovery by investing in a large inventory of military cargo chutes, which he then stored away on three open lots in San Pedro, California. Word began to spread fast about "Fiorentino's rigged para-anchors," among fishermen and yachtsman up and down the Western Coastlines of the United States and Mexico. By 1958, the forward-thinking Fiorentino moved his inventory of surplus para-anchors and commercial marine equipment into a 3,000-foot waterfront store, ideally located right next door to the commercial fishing fleet and San Pedro's Cabrillo Yacht Club. His word-of-mouth business was so successful that it turned into a full-time operation that has lasted over 40 years in the same location. Today, Fiorentino para-anchors are manufactured in Newport Beach, California where the company and Gerrard Fiorentino's engineering efforts continue to influence manufacturing and design standards in the parachute sea anchor industry. Sea creatures fall from the sky during powerful storm in China
The images, taken in the coastal city of Qingdao in eastern China's Shandong Province, went viral on social media after a ferocious tempest blew through the town on Wednesday. The sea tornado fizzled out before making landfall on the coastal city of Qingdao China, but the marine creatures which had been whirling around in the storm cloud were suddenly spat out.Phenomena of this sort are not unprecedented, however, as examples of what scientists call the 'Rain of animals' exist throughout history.According to the Qingdao Meteorological Administration, violent weather was recorded in the late afternoon of Tuesday. In the pictures, an octopus and a starfish can be seen having stuck themselves to car windscreens.Other marine life to be swept ashore by the tempest included a starfish which stuck itself to another car.Seafood rain became a trending topic on social media after images were shared widely online. According to the city's meteorological service, the hurricane-force wind speeds generated during the storm set a new all-time record for June.Meterologists said the incident was probably caused by a tornado as it is common for tornados to suck up water and fish from rivers and drop them miles away.

Have you seen a storm at the Dead Sea Israel?
Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera. +972 54 6905522 "Dead Sea" , "Sea of Salt", also called the Salt Sea, is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east, and Israel and the West Bank to the west. Its surface and shores are 422 metres (1,385 ft) below sea level,[2] the lowest elevation on the Earth's surface on dry land. The Dead Sea is 378 m (1,240 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. It is also one of the world's saltiest bodies of water, with 33.7% salinity. Only Lake Assal (Djibouti), Garabogazköl and some hypersaline lakes of the McMurdo Dry Valleys in Antarctica (such as Don Juan Pond) have a higher salinity. It is 8.6 times more salty than the ocean.[4] This salinity makes for a harsh environment where animals cannot flourish, hence its name. The Dead Sea is 67 kilometres (42 mi) long and 18 kilometres (11 mi) wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and its main tributary is the Jordan River. The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from around the Mediterranean basin for thousands of years. Biblically, it was a place of refuge for King David. It was one of the world's first health resorts (for Herod the Great), and it has been the supplier of a wide variety of products, from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilizers. People also use the salt and the minerals from the Dead Sea to create cosmetics and herbal sachets. In 2009, 1.2 million foreign tourists visited on the Israeli side. The sea has a density of 1.24kg/L, making swimming difficult. The Dead Sea is an endorheic lake located in the Jordan Rift Valley, a geographic feature formed by the Dead Sea Transform (DST). This left lateral-moving transform fault lies along the tectonic plate boundary between the African Plate and the Arabian Plate. It runs between the East Anatolian Fault zone in Turkey and the northern end of the Red Sea Rift offshore of the southern tip of Sinai. The Jordan River is the only major water source flowing into the Dead Sea, although there are small perennial springs under and around the Dead Sea, creating pools and quicksand pits along the edges.[7] There are no outlet streams. Rainfall is scarcely 100 mm (3.9 in) per year in the northern part of the Dead Sea and barely 50 mm (2.0 in) in the southern part. The Dead Sea zone's aridity is due to the rainshadow effect of the Judean Hills. The highlands east of the Dead Sea receive more rainfall than the Dead Sea itself. To the west of the Dead Sea, the Judean Hills rise less steeply and are much lower than the mountains to the east. Along the southwestern side of the lake is a 210 m (690 ft) tall halite formation called "Mount Sodom".There are two contending hypotheses about the origin of the low elevation of the Dead Sea. The older hypothesis is that it lies in a true rift zone, an extension of the Red Sea Rift, or even of the Great Rift Valley of eastern Africa. A more recent hypothesis is that the Dead Sea basin is a consequence of a "step-over" discontinuity along the Dead Sea Transform, creating extension of the crust with consequent subsidence. Around three million years ago, what is now the valley of the Jordan River, Dead Sea, and Wadi Arabah was repeatedly inundated by waters from the Mediterranean Sea. The waters formed in a narrow, crooked bay which was connected to the sea through what is now the Jezreel Valley. The floods of the valley came and went depending on long scale climate change. The lake that occupied the Dead Sea Rift, named "Lake Sodom", deposited beds of salt, eventually coming to be 3 km (1.9 mi) thick. Approximately two million years ago, the land between the Rift Valley and the Mediterranean Sea rose to such an extent that the ocean could no longer flood the area. Thus, the long bay became a lake.Masada (Hebrew מצדה, pronounced Metzada (help•info), from מצודה, metzuda, "fortress") is the name for a site of ancient palaces and fortifications in the South District of Israel on top of an isolated rock plateau, or horst, on the eastern edge of the Judean Desert overlooking the Dead Sea. After the First Jewish-Roman War a siege of the fortress by troops of the Roman Empire led to the mass suicide of the Sicarii rebels, who preferred death to surrender. It is located about 20 km east of Arad

Sea Breeze II - Updraft 4K
This is part 2 of my original time-lapse film "Sea Breeze" released last year. It is based on my adventures while storm chasing in Florida. It is meant to showcase the multiple weather types that Florida has during the year. While I had shot over 149k photos last year, I was left with a lot of left over time-lapses not used in the first film. Some were abandoned due to errors with them while other's just didn't make the cut. I did not want to abandon the clips so I did my best to fix the errors with them such as flickering, movements during shots, and other issues but some scenes will had noticeable errors in them. Regardless of that fact, I hope you enjoy and would love to hear any feedback you may have! Music by Ryan Taubert (Licensed through Musicbed.com) (Edit- No idea what happened to the transition at 27 seconds but will reupload a corrected version shortly) 5000+ photos used Captured with the following: Canon 6D w/17-40L & Rokinon 14mm Nikon D5300 w/18-55 & 55-300mm

7 Ways to Survive Natural Disasters
How to Survive Natural Disasters. Here’s a list of survival tips that can save your life in an emergency. We live in a time when natural disasters occur more and more often and get more and more devastating. Many of us believe we should blame the human race for that. Whether it’s true or not, we all want to know how to survive when those disasters happen. Some rules are universal for most natural disasters. A national campaign called Ready was started in the United States to inform the population about how to get ready for and survive in different emergency situations. It recommends having a basic survival kit to provide you with the most important things just in case. Remember you will need to have enough food, water, and other supplies for at least 72 hours after the disaster. “Other supplies” include a battery powered weather radio, flashlight, first aid kit, a whistle, a dust mask, personal sanitation items (such as moist towelettes), pliers, can opener for food, maps of your area and an emergency cell phone with backup batteries. TIMESTAMPS Hurricane 0:40 Tornado 1:45 Tsunami 3:15 Flood 4:10 Avalanche 5:03 Wildfire 6:00 Earthquake 7:00 SUMMARY - If a hurricane starts while you are driving, leave your vehicle and find a building to shelter in, or a ditch. Stopping in an overpass will not save you. If your home is a trailer and there is enough time to flee to a safe area – do it. - If a tornado starts when you are in a public building, follow the same rules. You want to stay as low as possible. Avoid windows and open spaces such as auditoriums, gyms, and large hallways. Desks and benches can give you some extra protection if you get under them. It is impossible to outrun a tornado. - Tsunamis are so fast they hit the coast minutes after the earthquake. Remember that tall buildings, including hotels right in the beach area, can provide an excellent shelter. In case a tsunami finds you at sea, stay there instead of going back to the coast. It won’t be a safe haven. - Don’t try to be the bravest person around and stay in your house once you hear the evacuation warning. Leave for safety in higher grounds with your important papers in a waterproof container. If a flash flood gives you no time to evacuate and the water is all around you, don’t try to swim across it. - When an avalanche starts, try to move to the side of the slope as fast as you can. There will be more snow in the center of the flow. To move faster, drop any heavy equipment you have on you. If you can’t escape it, try using a sturdy tree to keep you above the snow. - If you find yourself in a wildfire area, it is critically important to ensure that you can breathe. If you fail to do it, you can pass out in the midst of a danger zone. Use a wet cloth to cover your nose and mouth and escape to safety. - If an earthquake starts when you are inside, stay where you were. Experts say that during an earthquake you must drop to the floor, get underneath a table, cover your neck and head with one hand, and hold on with the other hand. Your entire body must be under the table. Don’t try to run out of the building - the exterior of a building is one of the most dangerous places.
