See the strange creatures NOAA found at the bottom of the sea

01:56
Each year, the NOAA ship Okeanos Explorer maps an area of the North Atlantic sea floor the size of West Virginia. When compared to the total Atlantic Ocean, which spans 41 million square miles, West Virginia’s not so large. But the discoveries the team is making are vast: Small creatures in hydrothermal vents. Asphalt volcanoes. Ancient landslides. New species of squid. science-wednesday Last month, while traveling around Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the NOAA ship spotted 100 different species of fish, along with 50 different species of coral and hundreds of other invertebrates. One fish species is so new it’s never been named; another jellyfish-like creature called a ctenophore or comb jelly, has only been observed once before.

Strangest, Coldest, Hottest, Fastest, Rarest Sea Creatures

Oceans cover two-thirds of our planet. While they appear to harbor an inexhaustible supply of food, humans have overfished and polluted them with climate changing gases that make the waters acidic and less productive. This is the underlying theme that runs through a new book by a scientist and his novelist son called The Extreme Life of the Sea. VOA’s Rosanne Skirble caught up with them at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington. Originally published at - http://www.voanews.com/media/video/2412595.html

10 Animals That Were Recently Discovered

12:03
► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] The animal kingdom is diverse and fascinating, and there are many different versions of the same species all over the planet. In some areas, such as the deepest reaches of the Amazon Rainforest, we know very little about all the creatures that exist there. And while us humans tend to think of ourselves as the masters of our world, it cannot be denied that there are many weird and wonderful things on Planet Earth of which we are simply unaware. That’s why everyone becomes so excited when we discover a new plant or animal species. Recently scientists have discovered new species of wasp, shark, ape, and even new animals descended from Dinosaurs! With that in mind, here are 10 amazing animals that have only been discovered in recent years. Squalus Clarkae Also known as the “Genie’s Dogfish,” this tiny member of the shark family, specifically the dogfish shark, grows just 20 to 28 inches long. Found in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, this dainty predator has huge, anime-like eyes which are perfect for seeing in the deep, dark waters. Calistoga Crassicaudata Despite being just 9.8 millimeters long, this species of parasitic wasp is native to the Amazon, and is one of the most nightmarish creatures on this list. Its stinger is about half the length of its tiny body and is also an “ovipositor.” This means that that stinger also deposits eggs, along with a paralytic toxin into the wound it creates. Caelestiventus Hanseni This entry has been, thankfully, discovered post extinction. If you think we’re cruel for saying this, just wait until you hear about C.Hanseni! C. Hanseni was, in fact, a breed of Giant Pterosaur which sported no less than 110 teeth and 4 seriously wicked fangs. The scientists responsible for discovering it estimate that it may have had a wingspan of around 4.9 feet and fangs 2.5 centimeters in length. Mansourasaurus shahinae The second ancient discovery on our list is less carnivorous, but no less terrifying for its vegetarian nature. The Mansourasaurus was found in Egypt by archeologists in late 2017. This sauropod was long-necked, long-tailed, and the size of a modern-day bus! What makes this discovery so exciting? Dendrocerus Scutellaris Another member of the wasp family which has been discovered in recent years, D.Scutellaris is also a parasitic wasp that seems to have cut its way straight from a scary movie. Like it’s cousin C.Crassicaudata, this wasp lays eggs inside of a host. The larvae then hatch and, well you get the rest. Despite this, D.Scutellaris lacks the strong, pointy jaws that most endoparasitoid wasps use to chew their way free. Tardigrades Lovers of weird and wonderful animals will already know about the famously sturdy Tardigrade or as its sometimes called “water bear”. This tiny microscopic creature can survive in extreme cold down to negative -328 degrees Fahrenheit and extreme heat up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. In fact, they can even survive in the intense radiation and crushing vacuum of space! Talk about a super-creature, right? Shastasaurid The creatures of the world’s oceans remain more mysterious than even the surface of the moon; deep dwelling animals are still being discovered, today, and so it is little surprise that we are still becoming aware of now extinct species. Junzi Imperialis The burials of ancient Chinese royals were very often flamboyant and outlandish affairs which displayed the wealth and importance of the person through the goods they were buried with. Even still, archaeologists were surprised to find the remains of an extinct and ancient member of the Gibbon family within the burial menagerie of the grandmother of China’s first Emperor. The Bryant Shark Thanks to recent movies and media, the public is more aware of ancient sea life than ever before. Jurassic World, and The Meg have brought huge, sea-dwelling dinos into the public eye. But while we know about the infamous Megalodon, the largest shark to ever exist, few are aware of the ongoing search for one of its ancestors Orthrozanclus Elongata With an armored back and spikes lining its sides, this 515-million-year-old critter would probably give most people a nasty scare if they were to see it in person. The cocktail-stick-like spikes on its back were longer than the creature was wide and extended like sunbursts. Discoverer Dr. Martin Smith remarks that this would have made them look rather like a cuddly cactus. We hope you enjoyed this video! Let us know which one of these animals was your favorite. 10 Creepy Sea Creatures You Didn't Know Existed

04:33
Did you know any of these amazing and scary deep sea creatures? It's hard to believe these bizarre animals exist. Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg 'Hatchet Fish' footage by Filmic Art : www.filmicart.com For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Description: There is a vast world below the ocean that we have yet to discover in its entirety. While we seem to know nearly everything about the land, the sea still leaves much to be desired. As you go down into the depths of the ocean, you’ll notice a lot will change. For one, you’ll begin to be immersed in darkness. Second, the pressure will change. So, the creatures that have been discovered deep in the oceanic depths are quite different biologically, and they can be quite terrifying to look at. But once we begin to understand them, we can start to learn more about our existence, and even come closer to curing diseases and solving some of the world’s most complex mysteries. However, the sea creatures that have been discovered recently have shown to be just downright creepy and terrifying. You probably recall the Angler Fish, especially if you’re seen the Disney movie, “Finding Nemo”. If you didn’t realize that this fish is the real deal, get ready for new additions to your nightmares. It wasn’t a work of fiction or some messed up fantasy of some Disney Imagineer. The fish that we see in this video is actually female, and the male is a small weakling, wandering the sea to find a female with her pheromones. The male then attaches itself to the female and becomes a parasite. Every part of the male merges with the female except for the testicles, which the female uses to impregnate herself. Jokes aside, this is quite a fascinating process despite how creepy it is. Similar to the angler fish is the Viper Fish, which has a natural extra attachment that illuminates in the darkness of the sea with the purpose of attracting prey. The blob fish is a creature that you wonder what God was smoking or shooting up when he decided to create the blob fish. This fish has no bones, and literally just hangs out on the ocean floor and hopes that food comes to its mouth. Whether you want to worship the blob fish for its epic level of laziness or wonder how in the world the species is still in existence with such an apathetic demeanor, it’s still creepy to look at. Then we have the goblin shark, which is pretty much like the underwater version of the alien from the movie “Alien” due to its protruding mouth. The goblin shark has a large snout and needle-like teeth that are sharp and deadly. For a completely random sea creature, we have the Christmas Tree Worms, which really look like tiny walking fir trees that come in different colors. The branches or hair-like appendages help them breathe as well as consume phytoplankton. Then we have the sea pig, which looks nothing like the pigs we have on land. But instead the sea pig is a multi-tubed foot sea creature that is closely related to the sea cucumber. It eats by pulling water and absorbing organic food. Quite innovative, even though it looks creepy. For more creepy sea creatures, check out the rest of the video for more. 10 MOST DANGEROUS OCEAN CREATURES IN THE WORLD

10:17
10 Most Dangerous Water Animals In The World ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] There are many different types of creatures that live in streams, lakes, seas and oceans. And while many of these creatures are harmless, there are many that are incredibly dangerous if you happen to have an encounter with them. These dangerous animals lurk beneath the surface of the water in a world vastly different than ours, and must be deadly to survive. Join us as we take a look at 10 of the most dangerous water creatures. 10. Australian Box Jellyfish – This creature is not one to be messed around with if you happen to swim into a swarm of them. And while they may seem harmless, the Australian box jellyfish is considered to be the most venomous marine animal in the world. They have tentacles that are covered with tiny darts called nematocysts, and they are loaded with poison. 9. Flower Urchin – Beautiful but deadly, these sea urchins are extremely venomous. They look like a bouquet of small flowers; to which they get their name from. They feed on invertebrates, sponges, and dead fish, and have well developed jaws for grinding up their prey. 8. The Saltwater Crocodile – Evolving around 200 million years in the Mesozoic epoch, crocodiles have far outlived the dinosaurs. The Salt water crocodile is the world’s largest reptile, and they have been known to grow up to 27 feet long and weigh 2,465 lbs. 7. Textile Cone Snail – Mother nature teaches us that anything in nature that is beautiful, is most likely deadly, and a warning to predators and humans to not touch or disturb them. This holds true for the Textile Cone Snail. 6. The Sea Snake – These highly venomous marine snakes are closely related and belong to the same family as the cobra. There are two independently evolved groups: the true sea snakes which are related to Australian terrestrial elapids, and the sea kraits which are related to Asian cobras. 5. The Lionfish – Lionfish are skilled hunters, using specialized bilateral swim bladder muscles to provide exquisite control of location in the water column, allowing the fish to alter its center of gravity to better attack prey. The lionfish then spreads its large pectoral fins and swallows its prey in a single motion. 4. The Stingray – Stingrays are a group of rays, which are cartilaginous fish related to sharks, and are one of the oceans deadliest creatures. Most stingrays have one or more barbed stingers on their tails, which are used exclusively for self-defense. 3. Blue-Ringed Octopus – This octopus has some of the most striking colors of any ocean creature. They get their name from the brightly blue colored rings on its body. 2. Needlefish – These strange looking creatures are very slender, and have a single dorsal fin, placed far back on the body. Needlefish are capable of making short jumps out of the water at up to 37 mph. Since Needlefish swim near the surface, they often leap over the decks of shallow boats rather than going around. 1. The Moray Eel - Most attacks stem from disruption of a moray's burrow to which they react strongly, but an increasing number of accidents also occur during hand feeding of morays by divers, an activity often used by dive companies to attract tourists.

The Invisible Creatures at the Bottom of the Sea

Less than 2 percent of the ocean floor has been explored by scientists. “Every time we go to the deep sea, we find new species of organisms,” explains geobiologist Victoria Orphan. “These organisms aren’t germs to be feared but actually are making the world tick.” In episode six of The Most Unknown, astrophysicist Rachel Smith and geobiologist Victoria Orphan dive to the bottom of the Pacific at depths of 3,000 feet to probe the unseen microbial communities that feed off methane and invisibly alter our planet’s chemical environment. 10 Biggest Sea Creatures Ever Caught

05:42
You won't believe that fishermen actually caught these gigantic sea monsters! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg SyFy recently aired the third film in their so-bad-its-good “Sharknado” series, prompting some to wonder if airborne, tornado-based sharks could actually be real. Okay, so no one is really wondering that. Still, though, the ocean continues to represent a great unknown to us, providing home to countless species, many of which remain a mystery to humanity. The more we learn about what lurks deep below the surface, the more we realize still remains uncovered. With two-thirds of the Earth’s surface covered in water, it stands to reason that a great deal of that space remains unexplored. Of course, just because humankind hasn’t covered every iota of ground along the ocean floor, it doesn’t mean that those areas are uninhabited. All we know for sure is that the truly deepest depths of the world’s oceans continue to offer surprises, even as scientific technology becomes increasingly advanced. New species unlike any others known before are routinely discovered, with entirely new and alien biomes in extreme environments that no life had even been thought possible have challenged our very notions of what life is and how it has evolved. Amidst the cold darkness of a low-lying ocean area with depths that no sunlight can penetrate lies an alien world of incredibly rare and mysterious species. While many are simple, harmless omnivores, they share the ocean floor with some pretty unsettling forces. These ocean-based creatures – those that we know about, anyway – change everything we think we know about fish. Each one has at least one predominant feature that stands out as being unlike anything seen before. Think you know sharks? Well, how about one with a saw-like nose or a frilly, eel-like body. Think you’ve seen some big fish? How about a 17-metre long swimmer or a 900-pound squid or even a 5,000-pound behemoth sunfish? Lurking within the ocean are a number of deadly, threatening, vicious creatures that are naturally designed and programmed to hunt and stalk their prey. Thankfully, most of these monsters live at pressures that humans could never survive at – not that they would survive long down there, anyway. In recent years, Hollywood has sparked a fascination with zombies, aliens and other forces that exist beyond the realms of our planet and that are not steeped in reality. Despite that, some of the strangest and most terrifying creatures in the universe lie beneath the surface of bodies of water with which we are, at least partially, familiar. As we sit on a beach staring out at the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean, we remain blissfully oblivious to all that lurks within. This list seeks to open the door to an entire world of deep sea activity, featuring a cast of creepy and spooky characters that few even know exist. These 10 fish, some of whom may seem to be borne out of your darkest nightmares, are all very real and may give you second thoughts the next time you foray into the ocean. And these are just the ones we know about… Check out these other awesome videos! 10 Shockingly Large Creatures That Actually Exist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9odlL5Ti3dc 10 Things That Will Happen When Humans Go Extinct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ml_awEqbEE Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheRichest.org Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRichest_Com Instagram: http://instagram.com/therichest For more videos and articles visit: http://www.therichest.com/

When this happens, the public has a habit of going crazy and thinking that we have discovered the Loch Ness monster, Big Foot, or even some sort of supernatural creature like an alien. In short, the media loves it when a creature washes up on shore. Even with cameras and probes going all over the place, we still haven’t been able to track down, test, and identify every animal that walks on this Earth. We are still trying to make sense of the fossils that we are still digging up despite the archaeology field being over a century old. One of the most common places for the discovery of new creatures is on the beach. Usually, we are only seeing the dead corpses of these creatures and we have no idea about what these animals were like in life. Also, since post-mortem has the ability to drastically change appearances, sometimes we might even be looking at an animal we already know about, we have mistaken it for something weird. Because we haven’t even been able to touch a percent of the creatures in the ocean, there is still a completely different world under the surface that we have yet to explore. This means that we still have a lot of learning to do when it comes to Animal Kingdom, and we can start putting names to these mysterious faces and fangs sooner than we thought. 10 Unbelievable Creatures Found After Tsunamis

10 Unbelievable Creatures Found After Tsunamis ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/gYLyzW For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] ################################ ► Website: http://vid.io/xcRS ► Facebook: https://goo.gl/G0HVYw ► Twitter: http://vid.io/xcRO ► Google +: http://vid.io/xcRM ################################ Shore is strange… at least sometimes, and usually after a storm. Beachcombers often can't believe their eyes (or noses) when encountering some of Neptune's more notable washed-up castoffs and even scientists can be befuddled on first impression. Like most UFO's, there's always an explanation for the apparently unexplainable… it's up to you, however, if you choose to believe it. The Kivalina Strain The remote native community of Kivalina on the Chukchi Sea shore in northwestern Alaska isn't the first place one might expect an alien invasion but on August 3rd, 2011, that's exactly what happened. Storm Sturgeon Something was fishy about the so-called "nightmarish Lovecraftian sea monster" that washed ashore on South Carolina's Folly Beach in March of 2012, or maybe that was just the aroma carried by the sea breeze. Montauk Monster No list of washed-up creatures would be complete without mention of the first Montauk Monster. Reports of the ferocious-looking carcass originated from far-eastern Long Island, New York, in July of 2008 and exploded onto the Internet shortly thereafter. Headless creature This subject is a headless creature 15 feet long, 10 feet of which form a tapering tail. Officials of Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans haven't disclosed the nature of the creature that washed ashore in February of 2010. Opah That's "Opah" and although this big beached beauty may look somewhat satanic the lower reaches it hails from aren't hellish in the least. Mysterious Blob Not much happens in Temuka, a town of just over 4,000 located on the eastern coast of New Zealand's South Island, but all that changed on October 28th, 2009 when the aliens landed… Purple Storm Snails Purple Storm Snails are rarely seen anywhere BUT washed up on a beach. These exquisitely beautiful gastropods have paper-thin shells and blow "bubble rafts" of transparent chitin to keep them afloat on the ocean's surface. Monster from Russia This creature was found by soldiers stationed on Russia's far-eastern island territory of Sakhalin in 2006. Sakhalin, by the way, is about 5,000 miles east of Moscow. Once the story broke, Russian Special Service personnel quickly removed the remains from the beach "for in-depth studies" Bigfoot Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… it IS safe in the water, just stay off the beach! OK, the only danger posed by the toothy creation above is potentially stubbing one's toe on it. And by "creation", we don't mean it in the biblical sense. Salish Sea Human Foot Discoveries The thrill of victory and the agony of the feet, the latter of which were washing ashore along the Canadian and American Pacific northwest coast so often authorities were wondering what in the wide world of sports was going on! Just whose feet were they – and where were the rest of the bodies? So, are you up for a nice, peaceful walk on the beach or does the possibility of stumbling across something unexpected make you want to wave it off? One thing you should know: from whales to snails and fish to feet, things washed up on the shore have all seen better days, so stowaway your fears and enjoy nature's bounty! Thank you for watching!

10 Unusual Deep Sea Creatures Spotted By NOAA Expedition

02:57
The Okeanos Explorer recently caught up with some of the strangest seafaring animals known—and possibly unknown—to man. The NOAA Okeanos Explorer mission recently came across some extraordinary creatures in the aquatic environment of the Hawaiian Archipelago.  There was a free-swimming crinoid—stalks fluttering amidst the oceanic depths.  The snakelike ophidiid fish was there--billowing through the dark waters.  A siphonophore was also spotted. Though resembling a jellyfish, each one is actually a colony of animals called zooids. There was an exceptionally small jelly—its few tentacles prompting a discussion on how the pretty little creature catches its prey.  Researchers were awestruck by an unusual polychaete worm that appeared to lack scales entirely. The animal may have never been seen before.  There was also the familiar face of a snail. Far from the garden variety, however, this snail performed some seriously adept acrobatics.  Spinning and swimming, flitting and floating, a scale worm explored a crater near a coral reef.  Arachnophobes look away. This sea spider was caught stalking across a large ridge—covered in white spots that may be snail eggs.  And then there was a squid. Its shimmering body awash in prismatic color. One eye looks sadly on as it travels past. Spotted nearly 3,000 feet below the surface, the species has never been seen at this depth before.

EXTINCT Sea Creatures Rumored To Still Be Alive

12:27
From Mermaids to The Kraken, from Sirens to The Loch Ness Monster, here are some of the mythical creatures that are rumored to be alive. SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos: https://goo.gl/7xzjzR 12 Jormungandr The Jormungandr, or the Midgard Serpent, is the middle child of giantess Angrboda and Loki. Odin, god of gods, took Loki’s three children, the wolf Fenrir, Hel and Jormungand and threw the serpent in the great ocean that surrounds Midgard. It grew so large that it managed to surround the earth and grab it’s own tail. Thor, the thunder-god, is the arch-enemy of Jormungand and it is said that when the serpent releases it’s tail, Ragnarok, or the end of the world, will begin. 10 Sirens Not exactly a water creature, but it was a deadly threat to those travelling at sea. Sirens were dangerous monsters that lured sailor and ships with their enchanting voices, causing them to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their Island. The greeks and romans were terrified of them. Part woman, part bird, they played a variety of musical instruments, especially the harp. It is said that Ulysses was so curious as to what exactly made the siren’s song so enchanting, so he ordered his sailor to plug their ears with beeswax, tie him to the ship’s mast and leave him there, no matter how much he begged. Upon hearing their beautiful song, Ulysses went mad and screamed to be released. His men tied him even tighter until they passed out of earshot and their song could no longer be heard. It is said that the sirens were fated to die if any anybody listened to their song and escaped, and after Ulysses left, they flung themselves into the ocean and perished. 8 Yacuruna The indigenous people of the Amazon tell tales of the Yacuruna, water people, similar to human beings, that live in beautiful underwater cities, often at the mouths of rivers. They are described as hairy beings, with their heads turned backwards and having deformed feet. During the day, they sleep on the bottom of the rivers and lakes, and at night they roam the amazon riding a crocodile as a canoe and using a boa snake as a necklace. The Yacuruna can communicate and have control over the animals of the rainforest and it is said that they can transform into the Amazon River Dolphin, which is attracted by the blood in menstruating women. Once the woman is found, it transforms into a handsome man and seduces the woman, using aphordisiacs to kidnapp her and bring her to his underwater kingdom. With time, she gradually starts resembling her captor. Once the transformation of a human into a Yacuruna is complete, it is irreversible and they can never go back home. 7 Loch Ness Monster The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie, is a creature inhabiting the Loch Ness lake in the Scottish Highlands. It is probably one of the most famous lake monster, and it is reported as being very large in size, with a long neck and humps protruding out of the water. The first sighting was in the 6th century AD, when Irish saint Columba met with a group of people burying a man near River Ness. One of the men was swimming and a water beast grabbed him and dragged him underwater. When the beast returned for one of Saint Columba’s men, he drove the creature away by making the sign of the cross and commanding the creature to leave. As the years passed, many more people reported seeing a strange creature in the lake, and The Loch Ness monster first gained worldwide attention with the now famous “surgeon’s photograph”, that shows a serpent-like creature sticking it’s head out of the water. Some say the Loch Ness monster is either a myth or just a hoax. Others say that Nessie is in fact an ancient Plesiosaurus. 5 Nymph Nymphs are divine spirits, often found in forests and mountains, near the placed they are bound to, like rivers or lakes. They look like very beautiful women, but are in fact deities 3 Kraken Near the coast of Norway and Greenland lives a giant monster that has been the stuff of nightmares for anybody who dared venture out to sea. For centuries, the Kraken has been one of the most terrifying creatures that inhabit the ocean. It is a huge, octopus like creature. It attacks anyone who disturbs its waters, from fishing boats to large ships. There is no way to escape it’s tentacles, which they use to embrace a whole ship, crushing it, and pulling it deep underwater. 1 Mermaid/Merman Of course you’ve heard of Mermaids, or their male counterparts, the Mermen. They have the upper body of a human, and the tail of a fish. They have been sighted since the times of the Assyrians, even Christopher Columbus saw them during his exploration of the Caribbean! Mermaids are associated with floods, drownings and shipwrecks, although they are not necessarily evil, sometimes they do good, blessing the fortunate, teaching them hidden knowledge, or falling in love with humans. Some say they are just manatees or stingrays. Until we actually find one, there’s plenty of stories about mermaid to read.

10 Strangest Ocean Phenomena You Won't Believe!

Top 10 Amazing things that occur in the deep blue ocean. Creatures, and strange underwater events! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Description: With water covering 70% of the Earth’s surface, it’s no wonder that oceans yield spectacular species, with scientists finding up to four new species a day, according to the World Register of Marine Species, or WoRMS. They add that there are also approximately 228,450 marine species known to scientists with some two million more multi-celled marine organisms still to be discovered. The ocean is also home to other phenomena including giant beached whales, bioluminescence – when water appears to be glowing - and the yearly migration of millions of red sea crabs on Christmas Island, stopping drivers and pedestrians in their tracks. Seahorses continue to fascinate people time and again, not only for their combination of a norse-like head with S-shaped bodies but also because of what’s seemingly a reversal of roles in the natural world i.e. the male having to do the “pushing.” Rogue waves are an amazing phenomena that could have deadly consequences too, engulfing ships and fishermen in its wake. Short-tail stingrays are also considered to be dangerous. The death of Australian wildlife expert Steve Irwin, “The Crocodile Hunter,” by a sting ray brought the species to prominence in 2006 but in reality, that was a freak occurrence that happens on extremely rare occasions. Sea pens and glass squid appear to go hand in hand, although neither are what they seem. Underwater, famed French marine explorer Jacque Costeau once said “When one man, for whatever reason, has the opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself.” Such is the inspiration by marine biologists, sailors, and regular people alike to continue to explore life under water. Despite man’s advancements of NASA and seeking life on other planets, it’s seeing what’s under the earth’s surface where marine life will help us truly understand our human world. 10 Weird Creatures Washed Up On Shore

07:55
From mythical giant squids, to completely bizarre fish, these are the weirdest animals washed up on shore ! # 5 Conjoined Gray Whales On January 5th of 2015, extremely rare conjoined grey whale calves washed up on the shores of Baja California, Mexico. The Siamese twins measured about seven to ten feet in length which is about 5-6 feet shorter than most gray whale calves. Although many people don’t see them, according to veterinarian Michael Moore, conjoined twins being born to large whales is not completely unheard of. However they’re rarely seen because of how hard it is to give birth and raise two whales out in the middle of the ocean. When they washed up, concerns were raised about it being the results of the nuclear fallout from the Fukushima plant meltdown but after testing the DNA of the twins no radiation was found. # 4 Hairy Dolphin In 2015, a really strange creature washed up onto the coast of Russia. It looked like a completely strange sight to see in the cold region as dolphins aren’t native to the region. The carcass was also very strange looking - although it seemed like a the remains of an Indian or Ganges dolphin it was also covered in what looked like fur. The reason that the dolphin ended up all the way over by Russia is because a sudden change in warm water currents allowed it to swim out to Russian Waters. However, the surge of warmth quickly fades and the dolphin is left in water that is too cold for it to survive in which leads to it freezing to death. Before this lost dolphin wound up on shore, it collected algae that began to grow on its corpse. That algae is what gives it the appearance of having fur. # 3 Longnosed Batfish This completely baffling creature washed up on a beach in Brazil for tourists to find. It has wings, legs, and a tail and a strange nose looking appendage which makes it seem like the product of a randomizer in a Create-A-Fish game. It is actually the Longnosed Batfish which, while unknown to many people, is documented by scientists. It has evolved jointed fins and legs which allow it to walk along the seafloor in search of food and a strange suction tube like mouth which allows it to suck up their meals. Even though it’s not exactly a new discovery, it's strange and shocking appearance is just more proof of how little we know about our own ocean. # 2 Hairless Mystery Creature In December of 2014, this partly decomposed, hairy creature washed up onto a beach in Santa Barbara. It was discovered near a dredge pipe on the beach after a major brutal storm. Because of the violent storm, it’s hard to understand where it could have originated from. This picture was taken by Josh Menard, a 19 year old snowboarder from Lake Tahoe. Menard described it as having the body shape of a pig, a fat stomach, and insanely large canines. This mysterious hairless creature has been left unidentified but some hypotheses include a dog and a wolf. # 1 Millions of Velella velella In 2014, millions of creatures colloquially called “by-the-wind sailors” were washing up along the west coast from California to Oregon. The jellyfish like creatures are scientifically known as Velella velella and are actually hydrozoans, not jellyfish. The creatures look like strange little half blown plastic bags. Because they float freely with water and wind currents they don’t really have control over where they go. They’re usually found free floating around in the Pacific Ocean but they can be found all over the world. Every few years a really big storm might throw currents way off and end up setting millions of by-the-wind sailors crashing into beaches. Sometimes, they can even be found in piles 2 to 3 feet high. They don’t sting when touched but they do emit a specific rotting smell when they pile on in the beach. World's 10 Most Bizarre Sea Creatures

03:04
Here are 10 of the more unusual creatures found underwater. From monstrous to ethereal, the sea is filled with all sorts of magnificent specimens. Here are 10 of the more unusual creatures found underwater. Number 10. Siphonophores. They're clear and fragile, but given the length and bioluminescence of some of them, they can be quite a spectacle to behold. Select ones have been measured at over 40 meters long. Be careful around them though. They break easily. Number 9. Vampire Squid. Like its namesake, this cephalopod wanders about in the dark. In order to survive the deep area it occupies, it has had to give up some other functions, like spewing ink clouds. Number 8. Anaximenes Amphipod. Looking like the offspring of a water glass and an alien, this mysterious diaphanous crustacean was spotted off the coast of Southern Turkey. Number 7. Goblin Shark. Ideally suited for a sci-fi horror movie, this sea beast is actually built for roaming around the deep sea. Its beady little eyes are the result of not surfacing often. Number 6. Dumbo Octopus. It was named thus because it has two flaps on its head that resemble big ears, just like the cartoon elephant has. When these creatures float around they take on an umbrella-like appearance. Number 5. Colossal Squid. Yeah, they're big. These squid can reach about 17 feet in length. Despite the claims gone viral on social media, they do not grow to be the size of military submarines. Number 4. Barreleye. Transparent fish are not rare, but this one only has a see-through head, making it quite unique. It has eyes that completely rotate around their sockets, making it possible for the barreleye to look through itself. Number 3. Disco Clam. It's a bivalve and a light show. Scientists have discovered that it produces the pulses by moving its silica-covered lips back and forth to catch and reflect rays, just like a disco ball. Number 2. Predatory Tunicate. They live anchored to the walls of deep canyons and must feed on whatever passes by -- sort of like a venus flytrap. And if there aren't any other tunicates nearby, they're able to reproduce on their own. Number 1. Gigantocypris. Oddly, it's also known as the Giant ostracod, even though it's only about 2-and-a-half centimeters wide. 20 percent of its body is taken up by their eyes, which are made of big reflectors and light-sensitive materials.

One of the most exciting things that can happen to a community is seeing the Google car driving around. Thanks to Google Earth, we can travel the world from the comfort of our very own home. If you want to see the world but don’t want to save for a plane ticket and the expensive hotel fare, then Google Earth is the answer to your prayers. What is really interesting about Google Earth is that the images captured are authentic and raw. It means that they are not staged. Because of this, Google Earth has inadvertently caught some rather strange things on their cameras. Since millions of people are looking at Google Earth every day, it didn’t take long for the masses to report the weird things that were popping up on their cameras. One of the most popular sightings on Google Earth is mysterious creatures. You would think with all of these cameras looking around the world, we would have spotted Bigfoot by now? Well, maybe we have. Anyway, we are learning more about the animal kingdom thanks to Google, and zoologists and cryptozoologists are having the time of their lives. Instead of wandering aimlessly through the woods, researchers can use Google Earth as a tool to find leads, shortening the discovery time considerably. In this video, we’re going to explore some of the most mysterious creatures we spotted on Google Earth...and the results will shock you! 10 Rare Deep Sea Catches

08:44
From the giant squid found near Antarctica, to the most awesome fish inside a jelly fish ! These are 10 RARE Deep Sea Catches ! Basket Star -- Was it an alien life form? Nothing so exotic. But a fisherman in Singapore reeled in a catch that caught worldwide attention. The weird, writing octopus-like creature was actually a basket star … a distant relative of the starfish. The fisherman said he thought he had reeled in a bunch of seaweed since it’s so prevalent in the area. Although it looks like the creature has hundred of arms wriggling about, it only has five arms, which are each divided into more dexterous ‘branchlets’. This really was a rare deep sea catch since Basket Stars live so deep under the sea … some 6,000 feet or so … and feed mostly on zooplankton. A Controversial Catch -- A Tiger shark measuring nearly 20 feet long was caught off the Australian coast in 2015. Tiger sharks normally grow to lengths between 10 to 14 feet, and are found worldwide in tropical and temperate waters. The apex predators are known to hunt a variety of animals including sea snakes, turtles, dolphins and whales. When photos of the enormous carcass lying on a fishing boat were posted on Facebook, it prompted a social media backlash. Critics compared the display to Cecil the Lion, who was controversially killed by an American big game hunter. What do you think? Ghost Octopus -- A remotely operated submarine called Deep Discover made an amazing discovery when it caught this creature on video: A mysterious, ghostlike octopus sitting on a rock … at a depth of nearly 4,300 meters … or over 14, 000 feet below the surface! The unusual octopus was found during a deep-sea dive in the Hawaiian Archipelago. Researchers said its ghostly appearance is due to the animal’s lack of pigment cell called chromatophores, which most cephalopods possess. While the newly discovered creature is thought to be previously undescribed, researchers have classified it as an incirrate octopod ... meaning it lacks fins and cirri, which are wispy strands found on the arms of some octopuses. Cirrate octopods have fins, and are sometimes called Dumbo octopods … a reference to their resemblance to the Disney cartoon elephant. This small ghost octopus is the first incirrate octopod observed at such an extreme depth. A lot of people think this creature should be named ‘Casper’ … can you think of a better name? Here’s the Catch -- This is kind of like a rare deep sea double catch … A fish is caught inside a jellyfish … and the incident is caught on film! You can see in Tim Samuel’s photograph that the fish seems to realize it’s made a horrible mistake … if it’s any consolation to the fish, the picture will no doubt provide fodder for plenty of internet memes. The incident took place off the coast of Australia's Byron Bay earlier in 2016. The species of the fish and jellyfish are difficult to identify from the picture. But some experts think the jellyfish is a type of stinging jellyfish known as a cubomedusan (koo-boe-med-ooh-san) … and the fish might be a juvenile trevally (treh-valley). Because that fish species is known to evade predators by camouflaging itself among the stingers of certain jellyfish species, it likely intended to get close to the jellyfish … but not actually inside it! Did the jellyfish end up eating the fish … or did the two creatures strike up an unlikely alliance and go on to have some amazing aquatic adventures? As it was decided to let nature run its course … we may never know. Can you think of a happy ending? Gigantic Giant Squid -- A squid the size of a minibus was captured in the area of Antarctica’s isolated Ross Sea. Researchers kept it on ice for some 8 months before thawing it out to discover it’s wasn't just another giant squid … it was a gigantic squid, weighing 770 pounds! Scientists identified the enormous creature’s gender as female, with 8 arms measuring over three feet each, and dual tentacles reaching 7 feet. One of the scientists speculated that animals such as this may have inspired legends like the Kraken, who often battled other huge sea creatures, like whales. Analyzing the huge squid is part of a research project that scientists hope will yield more information about where giant squids figure in the overall marine-based food chain … In addition to identify various squid types and find out more about their dietary patterns and life-cycle. CRAZIEST Creatures Found In The Ocean

12:26
2/3 of marine life is undiscovered. The blobfish, goblin shark or fangtooth are some of the craziest creatures found in the ocean. SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos:[https://goo.gl/7xzjzR] Don't forget to CHECK OUT our latest upload: [https://goo.gl/LUB8Xw] 10. Rattail fish Starting at the top of our list of craziest creatures found in the ocean is the rattail fish, known for its large eyes and mouth and a rat-like tail responsible for its name. The Grenadier, as it is otherwise known, is a small fish that grows to a maximum length of 1.5 meters, with some smaller species growing up to 10 centimeters. This family is so large that it makes up to 15% of the sea’s animal population. Found in depth ranges of 200-7000 meters, these fish swim in schools, especially round nose grenadiers which spend the winter in shallow waters and the summer in the deep oceans. 9. Sea cucumbers Yes, you are absolutely right. This crazy sea creature looks exactly like cucumbers with their almost cylindrical shape and leathery skin. Coming at number nine, the sea cucumbers are small animals that grow within the range of 10-30 centimeters in length with very many species all across the world. Their length varies with different species, with some growing to lengths of 3 meters and the largest having volumes of up to 500 cubic centimeters. 8. Deep sea dragonfish At number 8, the dragon fish is indeed a strange creature of the sea, and TRULY a dragon of the deep sea, and its special characteristics explain it all. From its strange appearance and adaptations, the fish is able to survive in the deep seas of up to 1500-4500 meters, and in some cases 5000 meters below the water surface. At these depths, the pressure is crushing and the temperatures go up to -4 degree Celsius. Chances of survival are slim. For the species though, its special adaptations which include a minimal skeleton in its entire body, having jaws with which it uses to feed are enough for survival. 7. Black Scabbardfish Living in depths of up to 1700 meters, the Black Scabbardfish makes it to number 7 as one of the strangest creatures that lives in water. To begin with, this species has an elongated body with a snout that contains strong fang-like teeth that help it feed on crustaceans, cephalopods, teleost and mesopelagic fish. This shape is important for swift swimming in the sea which helps facilitate catching of prey or escape from a potential predator. 6. Fangtooth Pushing our list to number 6, the fangtooth stands unshaken and its appearance says it all. That is one weird creature found in the ocean. First of all, the fangtooths have large disproportionate fang-like teeth, just like their suggestive name, rooted in their large jaws. They are one of the strangest animals lurking below the sea, and their characteristic appearance is so distinctive. 5. The Marine Hatchetfish At number 5 in our list of craziest creatures found in the ocean we have the Marine Hatchetfish is one of the species of about 45 that exist in the world, among them the freshwater hatchetfish mostly kept in aquariums in some homes. Their name originates from their hatchet-like shape with very thin bodies that almost resemble the blade of a hatchet. 4. The Cookiecutter Shark Let's move on to the next crazy creature of the seas. From the oval green eyes to its long cigar-shaped body and a round snout, the cookiecutter is indisputably one of the most bizarre sea creatures in the entire world. Coming at number 4, this species is chocolate brown in color with a darker region around its neck that resembles a collar. 3. Ghost Shark Also known as chimeras, these crazy sea creatures are definitely a top 3 on our list due to their very bizarre appearance. Their name explains it all. The Ghost sharks are long soft-bodied fish that grow to lengths of 4 meters with exemptions of longer tails in some species. 2. Goblin Shark At number 2, the Goblin shark is probably the scariest fish you can ever come across. It's almost the craziest creature found in water. From its long blade-like snout to its nail-like teeth rooted in a protruding jaw, it’s truly a wonder of the sea. It can grow to lengths of 3 and 4 meters, with the larger ones going to lengths of 5.4- 6 meters and weighing up to 210 kilograms. 1. The Blobfish And finally, summing up our list is the fish that has been branded the ugliest in the world. The ugliest and now, the craziest creature found in the ocean: The Blobfish. Its popularity was propelled by the sad expression on its face and its almost unreactive nature to its environment. That was it for our list of craziest creatures found in the ocean. If you have any other suggestions of crazy, weird, strange or bizarre creatures that live in the ocean or water, let us know in the comments below.
