Actually, you only need a few things, and you can get started to learn and practice after one visit to the art supplies shop. Sometimes it’s easy to fall into the trap of “well, when I get these tools, or these pencils, or these colors, or the dream studio, then I’ll start learning, or I’ll begin creating my designs or my illustrations”, but wouldn’t it be easier to just get started with what you already have? These are the essential tools that you need to start learning and practicing your fashion drawing skills: - Pencil or mechanical pencil - Eraser and sharpener - Paper. Loose sheets of paper or a notebook - And optionally ruler and templates for circles and ovals - If you’re totally new to fashion drawing and especially to drawing fashion figures and faces, then the workbook and cheat-sheets from my course Drawing fashion figures and faces will be super handy to you since I created them specifically for beginners to train their eyes + hand + brain to create beautiful and proportionate figures and faces. http://bit.ly/fashion-drawing --- As you can see, you don’t have to wait until you have all the tools, nor the most expensive materials or the biggest studio. What materials do you mainly use for your drawings? In general, I use Copic Ciao markers and Touch Twin Markers, Quill Multiboard A4 white paper, 2B and HB Pentel and Faber-Castell 0.5 mechanical pencil and Faber-Castell PVC-Free Space Eraser (Cool name) and I use Uni-ball Signo white fineliner 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? No. I took Studio Arts in senior high school. It's not from that class that I learned evreything I know. I did learn new things from the class, but not to do with fashion illustration or manga drawings. I went to a regular high school, so it doesn't specialize in art. 3. How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates? I started out by tracing models from magazines which is harder than it sounds, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. How I learned to draw my models is using the 9-Head technique. 4. How old are you? I am now 19 years old 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old. I started developing an interest in fashion design also when I was 11, but I pursued that interest or taken it further at the age of 14. So, I would say I started drawing fashion illustration at the age of 14. 6. Where do you get your inspiration? I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, Tumblr fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something that I like. 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! Fashion Illustration by Anna Kiper and Fashion Poses for Fashion Illustrators by Sha Tahmasebi are two books that I own at the moment. I'm hoping to get more. These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. 4. How old are you? I am now 17 years old 5. I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something I like. I am currently in an Artist's Block which has been going on since late October 2011, and I am finding ways to get out of it. I'll keep you posted on how I break through it :] 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! Fashion Illustration by Anna Kiper and Fashion Poses for Fashion Illustrators by Sha Tahmasebi are two books that I own at the moment. I'm hoping to get more. These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. http://www.monkeysee.com/play/5156-how-to-draw-clothes-on-a-fashion-figure this is a very basic tutorial but seriously, this tutorial helped me when I was just starting. Hopefully it helps you too. http://www.fsketcher.com/index.php/tutorials/clothing/coloring.html This was a newly found website that I heard about from 555000rocky http://youtube.com/555000rocky Hope this helped :] MUSIC: Key of C by Zyra Baez Provided by Garage Band NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED

4. If you've ever wanted to put ideas onto paper but drawing elements always makes frustrates you, well, here's what I learned the first day of fashion design development class. Just take a tracing pad, trace a fashion figure and dress her up! :D For this particular video, I used preprinted croquis from our class handouts, however there are plenty online that can be printed for personal use. Check these out: https://nz.pinterest.com/sarahpizz3/croquis/ http://basaktinli.deviantart.com/art/Fashion-Bases-Croquis-Template-553415545 Just google, print and get designing. This video is aligned with my previous video on fashion sketches and whether they're important, check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCm1QfrCjqU Hope you guys enjoyed it! __ ABOUT ME I'm Auie (Ah-whi), a name composed with the four vowels of the alphabet.
