"I read it as a will to show that a piece of clothing is able to say something; it has a meaning. For a long time we have printed messages on t-shirts, "I vote for" , "I am for", well now we use technology. But it is a strive towards identity and communication as if there is behind it a desire to declare what one is, what one thinks."

"In the Middle Ages they printed love messages on the wrists of the shirts, or on embroidered handkerchiefs, so there has always been this desire to transmit messages through clothing."

The latest way to express yourself in fashion conscious Paris is on your T-shirt.
T-shirt logos may not be new, but now the concept of wearing your thoughts on your shirt has been transformed into an interactive experience.
A clothing company based in France has produced T-shirts, and other clothing items, that have an interactive strip, to allow the wearer to compose text messages they want the world to see.
The Parisian neighbourhood of St Germain is one of the city's fashion centres.
It is here that one clothing manufacturer has decided to open their flagship store selling interactive T-shirts.
The T-shirts contain micro-screens made up of over 250 pixels which are embedded into the clothing.
The messages can be changed to show different images or words.
Director of Uranium clothing, the company responsible for the designs, Nadine Ninin explains how it works.
Ninin says that wearers can preselect words and phrases that are already programmed into the box, download more options from a website or create their own message.
18 slogans with a maximum of 25 characters each, and 33 animated pictures, are allowed on the screens.
One customer, Antoine Tarrade, says he thinks the T-shirt is perfect for communicating at noisy parties.
According to the company, each micro-screen is waterproof and tested against corrosion, but not really suitable for the washing machine.
It is also available in the form of satchels and bags.
