With its incredible architecture and exceptional landscapes, it’s a legendary railway for good reason. Eighteen stone viaducts along the route help to explain the ten years it took to construct the line back in the 19th century. Paris to Milan by TGV train - video guide
Tickets from Paris to Milan or Turin start at just €29 - for information or to buy tickets online see https://www.seat61.com/Paris-to-Milan-by-TGV-train.htm A beginner's guide to travel from Paris to Turin or Milan by high-speed TGV train, showing the train interior & exterior, the scenery and the food on board. Three daily French TGVs link Paris Gare de Lyon with Turin and Milan, from €29 one-way booked direct with French Railways. The video shows the 14:41 from Paris arriving Turin 20:13, Milan Porta Garibaldi at 21:50, with an easy connection from London St Pancras by Eurostar. The video was taken in June, and there was still snow on the highest peaks - the weather wasn't great on this occasion, overcast with brooding clouds, the route looks far better in proper summer sun or winter snow! Fans of BBC Top Gear may recognise a shot or two in this video - I supplied a few clips to the Beeb for their Wembley to Milan TGV-versus-Mustang 'race' first shown in February 2013.

EUROSTAR, Standard Premier, LONDON TO PARIS at 186mph!

Now, a lot of my subscribers told me they really wanted to see a video on Eurostar. So that’s exactly what I went and made. I hadn’t actually been on Eurostar since around 2012, so this was a welcome return. As a kid I remember quite vividly the opening of the Channel Tunnel and the start of Eurostar service. It seemed glamorous in a way that perhaps has faded a bit, as we’ve become used to being able to easily access Europe by train. Our journey takes us, on a classic Class 373 train, east from St Pancras and straight down into Kent on High Speed 1, Britain’s first proper dedicated high speed railway. We stop briefly at Ebbsfleet International before continuing in a straight line directly towards the tunnel at Folkestone, blasting through Ashford International without stopping. After 31 miles of tunnel we pop out near Sangatte and Calais-Fréthun, and head, via Lille, to Paris. Sadly, the weather was rather grey in both Britain and France for this video! But you can’t have it all. Eurostar trains have 18 carriages with three classes of travel. 10 carriages are Standard Class, 5 are Standard Premier (what you might call a hybrid between Standard and First Class), and there’s one Business Premier carriage, where hot meals are served, and customers get flexibility and lounge access. Business Premier is really directed at the corporate traveller, and Standard Premier is probably as much as you’ll need for a good trip. The surroundings are comfortable and the ride smooth despite the age of the train. My only complaint - a weak meal service. The portion sizes are very small and the quality hit and miss. My fruit salad was not fresh, which is very disappointing. This isn’t hard to get right when you’re loading food in the middle of London. Anyways, sit back and watch the journey, and let me and the train take the strain... 👌🏻👌🏻 Make sure you have your notifications set! 🛎 Enjoy the report. _____________________________________ Do you have any ideas for future trip reports? Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucerne, Paris, London by train
http://tourvideos.com/ Rome to London by train, featuring the best of Italy, Switzerland, France and England. Jump to the different cities or watch it all: Rome at 2:34; Florence at 8:43; Venice at 16:53; Lucerne at 22:42; Paris at 27:50; London at 34:10; Comments at 44:39 Rome highlights include lunch at Campo dei Fiori and a walking tour to the Pantheon, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican Museum and St. Peters, best of Europe. Florence is always listed in the world’s top-ten places to visit because of the Renaissance tradition we still see in the architecture, and the overall beauty of the city, not to mention great restaurants. Our walking tour with local guide brings us to the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and across the Arno River to Oltrarno. We also enjoy steak at il Porcospino, a favorite restaurant, with a most friendly waiter, Franco. Venice is the city of dreams, a place like no other, with water for streets and boats for cars. Our several walking tours bring us into the heart of town including: Rialto, San Marco, the Basilica, hidden restaurants, and of course, a gondola ride. Lucerne is an ideal town to visit on your trip through Switzerland, with a lovely pedestrian zone, historic buildings in the typical style, waterfront cafes and views, and nearby mountains including Titlis, which we ascend in this journey. Paris, perhaps the world’s most beautiful city, including: TGV arrival, walk to the Opera, Chartier dinner, stroll to Rue Montorgueil, open-top bus tour, Versailles, the Louvre, Latin Quarter and more… London, capital of England, is our globe-trotting filmmaker’s favorite city, and this summary demonstrates why this city is so compelling. We bring you all over the center of town, including Soho, Covent Garden, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Burlington Arcade, Fortnum & Mason, Changing the Guard, open-top bus tour, Inns of Court, The City and the Tower of London. Comments: An ideal Europe trip should include the major cities of London, Paris and Rome, along with a look at Switzerland in Lucerne, and the other greatest of Italian places, Florence and Venice. We summarize the journey with comments from our travelers about their favorites and general feelings about the trip, travelling by train and staying in each city for several days.

The TGV is France's high-speed train system. The network allows travel from one part of France to another in only a few hours. On my last French adventure, I took the TGV first from Paris to Avignon to spend some time in Provence. When I was ready to come home, I took the TGV direct from Marseille in the South of France right to CDG airport in Paris. Here's a look at my First Class seat on the ride from Marseille to CDG. If you live in the US, it's easy to buy your TGV tickets on Rail Europe (https://www.raileurope.com/). They're the official US sales outlet for most European train systems. You can buy point to point tickets or rail passes on their site, they mail them to you at home in the US before your trip so you have them in hand. We arrived about 11 and were departing on the 9pm train back to London, so had a full day to sightsee, and lap up the pre Christmas atmosphere. We checked out the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Galeries Lafayette, the Arc De Triomphe, Champs-Élysées and finished with a spectacular night time view of the Eiffel tower. It was a packed day, so come along for the trip. Do let me know what you think, we had great fun filming this one, and also if you like the day trip format, considering a few more of these for 2017. Avignon - A Day Trip from Paris by TGV Train
In October 2014 I took a round rail trip to Avignon from Paris Gare de Lyon station. I took the 0711 direct service to Avignon, and returned in Paris by 9pm. Avignon is a beautiful interesting city to visit as one of the major cities in the Provence, South of France. Historically, Avignon was the centre of the Christian world (Like the present Rome), with the Palais Des Papes pay homeage for 9 Popes. It is the major tourist attraction for the city, apart from the famous bridge Pont d'Avignon of St Benezet. The weather was the typical very windy day and firtunately, it was also sunny.

Travel in France By Train | Getting Around France from Montpellier
French Trains are the Fast and Easy Way to Get Around France is the largest country in western Europe so train travel makes sense. Happily, France has a fast and efficient train system and the French government has invested massively in high-speed trains (the TGV train or Train a Grande Vitesse), and on high-speed lines (LGV or Ligne a Grande Vitesse). There is over 1700 km (1056 miles) of dedicated high-speed lines and thousands more of main lines and smaller lines so almost everywhere is accessible by train travel in France. The French rail network links all the major towns while also linking up many small towns in rural France. With careful planning, you can get around just using train travel during your vacation. Generally, the trains are on time, comfortable and relatively cheap. However some trains run only at certain times on certain days, so you need very careful planning if you are traveling in rural France by train. Getting around France from Paris Like many capital cities, Paris suffers from having no central railway hub, but a number of mainline termini. Here are some of the main destinations served from the main stations. Gare du Nord: North east France, London (Eurostar), Brussels, Amsterdam (Thalys), Lille, Valenciennes, CalaisGare de l'Est: Nancy, Metz, Reims, Strasbourg, Germany, LuxembourgGare de Lyon: Lyon, Dijon, Besançon, Geneva, Mulhouse, Zurich, Clermont-Ferrand, Marseille, Nice, Nimes, Montpellier, Perpignan; Italy and the east of SpainGare d'Austerlitz: Tours, Poitiers, Limoges, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Biarritz, western SpainGare Montparnasse: All western TGVs, Brittany, Brest, Rennes, NantesGare St. Lazare: Caen, Cherbourg, Rouen, Le Havre Guide to Railway Stations in Paris Types of Trains in France All types of trains run in France, from the impressive TGV train and other high-speed trains to smaller branch lines. While there are still some lines operating old carriages, most of the trains are now comfortable, modern and have high tech additions like WiFi. Many have massive picture windows along the sides; others have an upper deck which gives you a wonderful view of the French countryside you are powering through. The main types of trains in France The TGV Train network (Train a Grande Vitesse) runs to major cities in France and Europe. For TGV train travel, check out the TGV Map and Destinations in France which will give you the major destinations from Paris. For general advice on TGV travel, check out my Guide to TGV Train Travel in France Intercites trains cover many of the medium distance routes between cities like Amiens, Orleans, Bordeaux, Caen, Lyon, Reims, Troyes, Toulouse, and Paris. They link cities in French regions like Nantes, Bordeaux, and Lyons-Nantes-Tours.TER is the French regional service running from towns and villages over 21 regional networks in France.AutoTrain sleeper service runs from Paris Bercy Station down to the south of France taking you and your car. International Train Services TGV train technology is used by other national rail carriers in Europe TGV Lyria trains run through France into Switzerland Know where to go! Sign up for our daily tips to make your best vacation. ONE-TAP SUBSCRIBEEurostar runs between the UK, Lille, Paris, and BrusselsThalys trains run to Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany Tickets How and Where to buy tickets for train travel in France Like most countries, ticket prices vary widely. If you can book early you will get good bargains, but you may well have to stick to a specific time. If you book that and miss the train, you may not get reimbursed. Ticket prices are no higher on a TGV or express train than on a normal local line. And to compete with the low-cost airlines, TGV trains offer good prices for early bookings, and for the less popular times of trains. Internet booking is always a good idea. All French train tickets can also be ordered online and you can then print them out on your computer as an e-ticket, exactly as the airlines do. For instance, if you book two months in advance to go from Paris to Nice, the second class fare can be as little as 27 euros ($35) and the first class fare 36 euros ($47). For the USA: Buy online with Rail EuropeFor the UK: Buy online with Voyages sncf (formerly Rail Europe UK) At the Station Arrive early to find out which platform the train goes from. Paris train stations can be quite confusing. There might not be good refreshments on the train; check in advance and if necessary buy your own snacks/light lunches at the station. You will have to validate your ticket. Look for the yellow machines (‘compostage de billets’) usually just before you reach the platform. Created by VideoShow:http://videoshowapp.com/free

Traveling Ecuador by train | DW Travel Documentary
The train line through Ecuador is considered one of the most spectacular train lines in South America. A train journey of discovery. The Trans-Andean railroad takes in the infamous Nariz del Diablo, or Devil’s Nose, a mountain with almost perpendicular walls. To overcome this obstacle, the train zigzags to ascend 500 meters in less than 12 kilometers. With steep ascents and descents, it’s no ride for the faint-hearted! The main line along the country’s Andean spine links the coastal city of Guayaquil with the capital Quito. It was finished in 1908, but was mostly shut down after a series of weather-related disasters destroyed much of the Ecuadorian rail network in the 1990s. After extensive restoration, a new cross-Andean service was opened in 2013, following the original narrow-gauge line. It’s 450 kilometers long and runs from the Pacific coast up to the Andean highlands. On its cross-country journey, the train is accompanied by guards on motorcycles who, in the absence of railway gates, stop traffic at every level crossing along the way to let the train pass. The Tren Crucero, - or "cruise train"- is the centerpiece of Ecuador’s rejuvenated railway. A revamped luxury steam train, it runs once a fortnight and has room for 54 passengers. The most exhilarating stretch of the ride begins deep down in the gorge of the River Chanchán. The train zigzags up the Nariz del Diablo - the "Devil's Nose" - in a series of dizzying switchbacks in which the tracks almost seem to lie on top of each other. Join the reporters for the ride of a lifetime, as the train journeys on to Urbina, the highest station at 3,609 meters above sea level, and along the so-called Avenue of Volcanoes, to the Cotopaxi National Park and onwards to Quito, the world's highest capital. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Traveling Iran by train | DW Documentary
Iran is opening its doors to foreigners and a train ride from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea is a great way to get to know the country and its people. The travel restrictions that are now being lifted were in place for decades. Many Iranians are hoping they will now be able to lead a freer life – and we meet many of these hospitable and welcoming people on our journey through the Middle Eastern nation. The country’s most important rail link, the Trans-Iranian Railway, runs for approximately 1400 kilometers from the Persian Gulf via Teheran to the Caspian Sea. The journey starts in Khorramshahr on the Shatt al-Arab, the river border between Iraq and Iran. Traveling past oil fields, the train reaches Shushtar. One of the top sights here is the historic hydraulic system, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After that, the train heads up into the Zagros Mountains. The journey is interrupted by a break for prayer. Breath-taking landscapes move past the train window until we reach the highest point not only of our journey but of the entire rail network: 2,200 meters above sea level between Dorud and Arak. During a brief stop in Qom, travelers can refuel with sohan, a pastry made of wheat germ, flour and sugar. The next section of the track is high-speed and we continue on to Teheran at 160 km/h. The metropolitan area is home to more than 15 million people. The last leg takes us to the north of the country. In the Alborz Mountains, we find out what role the Trans-Iranian Railway played during Stalin’s major offensive against the German army in World War II. Our oriental rail adventure ends in Bandar-e Torkaman on the Caspian Sea. _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. A Day In The Life: London to Paris on the Eurostar 😍 Air BnB tour | Becky Excell
London Vlog 2018 #18. It's time to travel from London to Paris on the Eurostar for my not-so-surprise birthday trip vlog! Mark and I haven't been to Paris since 2010 and we're so excited to be going back for the first time in years! We're staying in a really cool Air BnB in the St. Denis area, which Mark chose himself... he didn't do half bad! We then went on to find that Paris caters AMAZINGLY for gluten free AND dairy free (or sans gluten and sans lactose en Francais). I'm gonna do a few Parisian vlogs whilst we're here so I hope you all enjoy! Eurostar / TGV To Southern France !! Strikes, Demonstrations and Terrorist Attack
Three months ago I planned a two day rail trip to Southern France on Eurostar and high speed TGV trains. The day I left the French went on strike, no metro, walking to Gare de Lyon I met 200,000 protesters on Magenta Boulevard, but finally made it to Montpellier. The next day I headed towards Carcassonne on the TGV to fly home. Little did I know a terrorist had shot a policeman in Carcassonne was holding hostages in a supermarket, and the area was in lock down.

How to Travel in Italy By Train (Cheapest Tickets) | Rome, Florence, Venice
In this video, I'll be showing you the COMPLETE guide on how to book a train ticket to travel around Italy and also the difference between first class and second class seats for Italian trains. I recommend this for use on the trains: https://lifeofl.in/travelpowerstrip ➜ Book train tickets here: https://lifeofl.in/tripadvisor ➜ Get $40 now for AirBNB and live in a charming local apartment and save money over pricey hotels: http://lifeofl.in/airbnb ➜ Shot on a Canon G7X: http://lifeofl.in/g7xa ∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙ ➜ Must See Sights in Venice, Italy: http://lifeofl.in/venice2 ➜ Please subscribe for more AWESOME TRAVEL VLOGS: http://lifeofl.in/subscribe ∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙ *Differences Between Regional and Long Distance Trains in Italy* First off, there are two types of trains: One that goes long distances using the high speed rail, like going from Rome to Florence. The other train is the regional trains. These go shorter distances like Milan to Como. *How to Book a Regional Train in Italy* Example train routes: Milan to Como Florence to Pisa - The Regional trains don’t need to be bought in advance. - Once you’re at the station there will be ticket machines to purchase the tickets. - The prices are fixed so it isn’t cheaper if you buy in advance. There are no assigned seats so if you want a seat get on the train right when it arrives. - Also don’t forget to validate your train ticket before hopping on. If you don’t do this, you’ll get fined! The regional trains make it super easy to do little short one day trips to another city. *How to Book a Long Distance Train in Italy* The below is the cheapest and easiest method to book a long distance train from two cities such as Venice to Florence. - All seats on these trains are reserved. - I found that buying my ticket from Italiarail.com was the easiest to use. Some say it could be cheaper if you are buying two or more tickets. I’ve looked on other sites and it was the cheapest I could find at the time. - The website charges a small service fee of 3.50 euros per transaction. HOWEVER, if you book it with Seat61.com, you can email them afterward to get the service fee refunded. Here is a list some other sites you could compare prices with: www.italiarail.com www.loco2.com www.trenitalia.com If you are traveling with two people I suggest getting seats facing each other on the side. * The Difference Between First and Second Class Seating* Standard seating: - Decent space to put luggage - Cloth seats - Comfortable First Class seating: - 25 euros more/person on avg. - Leather seats - A bit more leg room - Free drink and snack - Extra room for large luggage Overall, I don’t think it’s worth the extra cost. *Common Italian Train Station Names (Translated English to Italian)* Rome: Stazione Terimini Venice: Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia Florence: Firenze Santa Maria Novella Milan: Milano Centrale For Rome the main station you should take is Station Termini because it is walking distance to all the sights. Roma Ostiense and Roma Triburtina stations are all on the outskirts of the city so you would have to take a local train or taxi into the city center. Here are how long the train takes from one city to the next: Rome to Florence 1 hour and 32 minutes Venice to Florence takes 2 hours and 5 minutes Florence to Milan takes 1 hour and 41 minutes ∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙ ∙• Instagram (see beautiful travel pics!): @https://www.instagram.com/the.life.of.lin ∙• Facebook (connect with me!): https://www.facebook.com/lifeoflin/ ∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙∙ ➜ Watch more videos from my channel here: http://bit.ly/2yGbpeP #tuscany #travelvlog #travel #italy #tours Music provided by: Evan Schaeffer - Riser
