Top 10 cities of turkey

02:15
Turkey top ten city. Ankara Ankara is Turkey's capital and 2nd largest city. Ankara is the seat of government and diplomacy and is also a university town with a large student population. Edirne Edirne is home of the world famous annual Kirkpinar oil wrestling competition. Also it is one of the oldest settlements in Turkey, dating back to the Neolithic age and was the second largest city of the Ottoman Empire. Konya Further inland the central city of Konya is the home of the whirling dervishes and hosts a sufi festival every December when the city comes alive with visitors. Bursa Bursa is the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, combines thermal springs in town with skiing on the slopes in Uludag. Mardin Mardin is an ancient Turkish city with its wonderful mix of culture and history. It is a great destination for travelers wishing to experience some unique cultural and historical motives. Istanbul Istanbul is Turkey's largest city and the country's undisputed cultural and financial centre. Istanbul offers a great deal in the way of history, culture, food and entertainment, in fact far too much to take in on a short city break. Antalya Antalya is the largest city on the Mediterranean, also known as the Turkish Riviera, offering over 300 days of sunshine, fantastic beaches, resort towns, luxury hotels, a myriad of water-front bars and restaurants and great shopping. Izmir Izmir is Turkey's third largest city and second most important port on the Aegean coast. Luxury hotels and facilities for sports, entertainment, shopping and business meetings give the city a cosmopolitan and lively atmosphere all year round. Canakkale Canakkale is the most popular base for visiting the ruins at Troy, as well as Gallipoli, and has become a very popular destination for tourists. Trabzon Trabzon on the Black Sea coast has its own Hagia Sophia from the 13th century and makes a good base to visit the cliff-hugging Sumela Monastery set in the spectacular semi-tropical forested landscape that so typifies this region. Turkey is situated at the crossroads of the Balkans, Caucasus, Middle East, and eastern Mediterranean. It is among the larger countries of the region in terms of territory and population, and its land area is greater than that of any European state. Nearly all of the country is in Asia, comprising the oblong peninsula of Asia Minor—also known as Anatolia (Anadolu)—and, in the east, part of a mountainous region sometimes known as the Armenian Highland. The remainder—Turkish Thrace (Trakya)—lies in the extreme southeastern part of Europe, a tiny remnant of an empire that once extended over much of the Balkans. The country has a north-south extent that ranges from about 300 to 400 miles (480 to 640 km), and it stretches about 1,000 miles from west to east. Turkey is bounded on the north by the Black Sea, on the northeast by Georgia and Armenia, on the east by Azerbaijan and Iran, on the southeast by Iraq and Syria, on the southwest and west by the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea, and on the northwest by Greece and Bulgaria. The capital is Ankara, and its largest city and seaport is Istanbul. Of a total boundary length of some 4,000 miles (6,440 km), about three-fourths is maritime, including coastlines along the Black Sea, the Aegean, and the Mediterranean, as well as the narrows that link the Black and Aegean seas. These narrows—which include the Bosporus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles—are known collectively as the Turkish straits; Turkey’s control of the straits, the only outlet from the Black Sea, has been a major factor in its relations with other states. Most of the islands along the Aegean coast are Greek; only the islands of Gökçeada and Bozcaada remain in Turkish hands. The maritime boundary with Greece has been a source of dispute between the two countries on numerous occasions since World War II. TurkStream’s first line reaches Turkey’s Black Sea coast

04:44
TurkStream’s first line reaches Turkey’s Black Sea coast Russia's Gazprom said Monday it completed the sea portion of the first line of the TurkStream offshore gas pipeline across the Black Sea and reached Turkey's coastline. Gazprom, which plans to complete the pipeline in 2019, said in a statement that 1,161 kilometers (721 miles) of pipe have been laid since it began construction last year, equaling 62 percent of the total pipe length in the project. The receiving terminal at Kıyıköy on the Black Sea coast of Turkey's northwestern Thrace region is under construction, the statement said, adding that when the terminal is completed, the first line will be fully complete. Gazprom President Alexey Miller said that TurkStream is being successfully brought to life and an important hurdle has been overtaken with the completion of the first line. "TurkStream will indisputably contribute to the energy security of Turkey and Europe," he said. The second line, designed to ship gas to southern European countries such as Greece, Bulgaria and Italy, will be laid in the third quarter of 2018, the company said. Both lines have an annual capacity to carry 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas. The total cost of the project is estimated at $7 billion. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said earlier this month that Turkey's approval for Gazprom's onshore portion of the TurkStream pipeline's second line was still pending. TurkStream spokesperson Sander van Rootselaar said that 224 kilometers (139 miles) of the second line have been laid, up until Turkey's exclusive economic zone, and all approvals for the second line have been obtained. The pipeline construction on land will be carried out by the Petroleum Pipeline Company (BOTAŞ), and the environmental impact assessment process is currently ongoing, van Rootselaar said. He added that the land construction in Russia will also be terminated before December 2019 and the gas flow will begin after that date. Moscow, which relies on oil and gas revenue, sees new pipelines to Turkey and Germany – TurkStream and Nord Stream 2 – as crucial to increasing its market share in Europe. The world's largest offshore construction vessel, the Pioneering Spirit, owned by Swiss company Allseas, carried out the construction. The ship reached Turkey's shores after a 10-month trip with a crew of 562 people from 40 countries. The official Anadolu Agency's energy editorial team paid a visit to the 382-meter-long and 124-meter-wide vessel as it reached Kıyıköy. Captain Loek Fernengel explained that the vessel was constructed in South Korea as two main blocks and welded together in 2013. It undertook its first high seas operation in August 2016 off Norway, carrying a 13,500 ton oil platform. The vessel is equipped with cranes that are able to carry 48,000 tons of weight in a single lift, which is equal to the weight of two and a half Eiffel Towers. The vessel laid a record 5.7 kilometers of pipes in a single day in February, enabling the fast construction of the pipeline at depths reaching 2,200 meters. Fernengel stated that more than 74,000 welds have been made in the project at a margin of error of only 0.63 percent. "So far we have had a very successful process both in terms of our production rate and safety, and quality. We continued working despite 7-8 meter-high waves in a storm about a month ago. It damaged the ship but the production did not cease. We came across plane wrecks and other archaeological sites during pipe laying work. Each time, we set a new route, but we reached our goal on time; there wasn't any postponement," Fernengel said. "Now we have completed this duty, and we will go to Rotterdam from here. There, within 10 days we will transform the vessel from pipe laying setup to platform assembly setup. Then we will take to the road to set up a 22,000-ton oil platform at the continental shelf of Norway. We will return to the Black Sea in the third quarter of 2018 to complete the second line of TurkStream," he added.

ROCK'N BLACK SEA DANCERS

02:04
Recorded this at a New Years party in Northern Cyprus at the Kaplica Beach Hotel and resturant Kaplica Village Iskele, Trikomo, Cyprus. The place is owned by a guy from the Black Sea area of Turkey and he hired some young dancers who knew the folk dances of the area to entertain us. You can get more information about this hotel on trip advisor http://goo.gl/TBznDF MORE INFO ABOUT BLACK SEA FOLK DANCES Turkish dance refers to the folk dances of Turkey. On the border between Europe and the Middle East, facing three seas, straddling important trade routes, Turkey has an ancient and complicated culture, reflected in the variety of its dances. However its dance traditions are dominated by the influence of the Ottoman Empire. The dominant dance forms are types of line dance. Turkey is divided into these cultural regions, which have distinctive dance styles: Trakya (European Turkey), Marmara[disambiguation needed] (on the coast of the Sea of Marmara, Karadeniz (North-central, on the coast of the Black Sea), Central Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia, and Southeastern Anatolia. The costumes worn by the dancers are often very colorful is representing happiness, or either very dull when doing a slow, depressing dance. Horon The horon which derives from the Greek word choros (Greek: (ο) Χορός) meaning dance in both ancient and modern Greek, Turkish: Horon, is a dance style found in the Black Sea region, now modern Turkey. The dances called Horon derived from the Greek culture of the area and are circular in nature, each characterized by distinct short steps. HORON or the round dance is a typical folk dance of the Black Sea coastal area and its interior parts. Horons appear very different from the folk dances in other parts of the country with their formation of tempo, rhythm and measure. Horons are performed, in general, by groups and their characteristic measure is 7/16 For their melodies are rendered very fast, it is very difficult to render them with every instrument. For this reason, rendering with a drum and zurna becomes practical. Melodies of horon are performed with the small type of zurna which is called 'cura'. In addition, in the interior parts blowing instruments such as bagpipe mey (again, a small zurna) etc. The other measures used are 2/4, 5/8 and 9/16.

Turkey's coast guard save sailors from Russian reconnaissance ship that wrecked in Black Sea

00:44
Turkey reveals the details of the rescue of the crew of the Russian vessel Liman. Turkish coastal guards saved 63 out of 78 crew members of the Russian reconnaissance ship, which collided in the Black Sea on Thursday, April 28. The rest were saved by the crew of the freighter, which ran into the Liman near the Bosporus strait. All sailors feel alright. As we reported earlier, Liman ran into the African freighter that carried livestock. The Turkish authorities are surprised of the fact that the ship from Africa managed to sink a reconnaissance ship of the Russian Navy and stay afloat. ******************************************************************* 112 International: Breaking News and Analysis from Ukraine and Around the World ******************************************************************* Visit our web-site: http://112.international/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/112UAInternational/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/112NewsFeed
Eastern BlackSea Region of Turkey

00:49
The Black Sea Region Lush and green throughout the year, rocky mountains, the cool waters of the coast and plantations of tea, hazelnuts, tobacco and corn, the Black Sea is a unique part of the country. The main industry is farming, thanks mainly to the high rainfall, andin the summer the roadsides are lined with hazelnuts drying in the sun. The culture, cuisine, climate and even dialect is different to the rest of Turkey, and the coastal road stretches from east of Istanbul to the border with Georgia. The cities in this region are Amasya, Artvin, Bolu, Corum, Duzce, Giresun, Gumushane, Kastamonu, Ordu, Rize, Samsun, Sinop, Tokat, Trabzon Zonguldak, Bartin and Karabuk. Akcakoca is on the far western side of the coast, with endless hazelnutorchards. Inland to the east is Safranbolu, with a wonderful collection of old Ottoman houses, and Devek, famous for its intricately carved walking canes.Further along the coast are Inkum, Amasra and Cakraz, and then Sinop which has been a port for 1000 years and is still one of the biggest in the Black Sea. The town takes its name from the Amazon queen Sinope and local mythology suggests that femalewarriors, called Amazons, lived in this region. It is now an important industrial and commercial centre.Unye and Fatsa, east of Samsun, are popular holiday resorts with natural scenic beauty, beaches, accommodation, campsites and restaurants. Ordu is a charming city with hazelnut orchards stretching out for miles in all directions and 46km east isGiresun, with its castle perched on a steep rocky slope, crowning the city and overlooking the beach. This is where the Roman general Lucullus saw cherries for the first time, and liked them so much he introduced them into Europe.Trabzon is another important commercial port on the Black Sea, and it connects with ports in other Black Sea countries. Trabzon Castle was founded on an area shaped like a table, and the architecture that developed around the castle reflects Byzantine,Commagene and Ottoman styles. The city's most important building is the Ayasofya Museum, the interior of which is decorated with frescoes, and the exterior with reliefs. From Boztepe Park and the Ataturk Museum there are stunning panoramic views ofthe city. Inside the Altindere National Park near Macka, the Sumela Monastery is perched on high cliffs overlooking the Altindere valley, and was founded in the 14th century by Alexius III. Inside the monastery is a church, a library, various other rooms and asacred spring. The area around Rize is the wettest in the country with wonderful shades of green, and is the centre of Turkey's tea production with plantations on the high terraces. Hopa is the last Turkish port before reaching the Georgian border, and to the southis Artvin. The city was established on the terraced hills overlooking the Coruh River, which is well known for rafting, and within the province are old Georgian houses and churches.

Coastal highway from Sinop to Gerze, Black Sea, Turkey 2018

01:33
Driving east on one of the most beautiful highways so far, since we departed in Cologne. The brand new Autobahn-like highway was built right on the shoreline of the black sea and is in perfect condition, wich was quite an experience after driving on all kind of different, but way more bumpy roads and paths for the past few weeks. Unfortunately not all the cars in Turkey are good with the high speeds you might reach on a new highway. At 1:04 you´ll see a quite new Dacia Duster (very popular in Turkey) ended up on his roof. And there was that other crappy old car, supposingly a bit to fast, hitting the Dacia right in the back, wich than spinned around and flipped over. Luckily no one was seriously injured!

Bacterial Fish Pathogens on Whiting in Eastern Black Sea Coast, Turkey

02:28
Mustafa Ture*, D. Selim Mısır, Cemil Altuntas, Ilyas Kutlu Abstract In the present study, a total of 180 whiting (Merlangius merlangus euxinus) were caught in the Eastern Black Sea coast of Turkey and investigated through for six month period for their bacteria. The bacterial agents isolated from fish were identified by Analytical Profile Index (API 20NE, 20E and rapid ID 32 Strep). Fifty-two bacteria were further confirmed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Nine bacterial species, Pseudomonas luteola, Staphylococcus equorum, Vibrio anguillarum, Pseudomonas putida, Acinetobacter johnsonii, Pseudomonas protogens, Oceanisphaera profunda, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Serratia fonticola were identified. This study is the first report on the bacteria of whiting in Turkey and provides significant information in terms of bacterial fish pathogens of this area. http://doi.org/10.4194/1303-2712-v18_11_09
