So how do we test our value proposition with customers well. We take our value proposition essentially the key parts that our customer facing the insight. • This is your problem • The benefit this is • What we propose the reason to believe • This is how you should believe we're going to deliver it • The discriminator this is what makes us better We put it onto a single piece of paper which I would call the product or solution concept and we take that into the customer and we show it to them and we ask them for their input we may have multiple different product concepts depending on different insights or benefits that we think or it may be that we flex the way that we're going to solve the problem but we keep the insight and the benefit constant. The advantage of putting it in front of the customer is that they may say to us • I don't understand it • That's not clear well • They may say I do understand it I just don't need it • They might say I do need it but I don't believe That way is the correct way to solve it the power of qualitatively refining your concepts. Value proposition is that when you move on to the next step which is to quantitatively test it you've guaranteed that what you're putting into that test is the best possible articulation of the idea and then quantitative validation simply allows you to check that a substantial number of your customers share the same view of • What is the best value proposition • What is the best articulation • What is the best solution When you're armed with that you'll find it much easier to share it with your organization and align them behind the activity that needs to follow in my experience inviting the rest of your colleagues to view those customer interactions might even speed the process up further much better to say to them you know when we all saw the customer and they really liked that route. It's so much easier than saying I saw the customer and I'm telling you to abandon your idea because they're not interested in it they didn't like it I showed it to them they weren't interested Wouldn’t it be much better to approach this as a multifunctional approach and everybody who needs to align behind it should hear the customer discuss the value proposition together. http://www.driveyoursuccess.com Do you need your salespeople to better defend your pricing? Are you tired of them constantly giving in to a customer's demand for lower prices? If so, then this video will help your sales team. The video provides six areas where your salespeople can get your customers to focus on something other than the sticker price of your product. Here are the six strategies to helping your salespeople better defend your product or service's price. 1) Focus on cost-per-use and longevity benefits: If your product lasts longer than the competition, then define that in a dollar value savings for your customer. 2) Quality: Is your quality vastly superior to that of your competitors? If so, then your customer doesn't just save on usage. They also save on inventory costs as your products are less likely to get damage or even fail in service. 3) Can your sales team focus on increased yields and performance? If so, then make sure they use this when discussing pricing. 4) Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) is a great solution to moving past the price of your product or service. Consignment agreements allow you to ship large volume of product to your customers without them having to pay for it all at once. Instead, they only pay for what they use in the month they use it. Your customer reduces their pricing and their per-unit freight costs on incoming shipments which results in lower inventory costs. 5) Finally, what about adopting a loss leader pricing strategy, one where you keep your primary product's pricing as is, but offer your customer a discount on a less important product. If you're involved with a online, internet or network marketing, how you approach and provide details on your product has to include the value, that the customer is getting, regardless of price. Price vs Value is huge! Your product marketing depends on it. For companies to make a profit and pay reps that sell their product, there has to be a margin, i.e. the difference between what it takes to manufacture the product and other expenses to make it on the market, PLUS money for profit, pay the salaries of employees, company bills, and commission of the reps that sell the product. Sometimes this can be substantial. So, does your product marketing stress the value of your product? You must be able to speak to somebody who questions the prices of your product with others in the market place and stress to them the value of your offer. Do you see how stressing value over price can attract a customer or team members to your company and product? You have to be able to communicate to somebody with a 'WalMart' mentality when they ask, 'Yeah, but I can get something like that at WalMart for much less.' The way we used to make prototypes, we made a design, we ordered it externally and then it would come in six to eight weeks later. Now, using 3D printing we can actually have a prototype within the same day. So we can make that cycle of innovation a lot shorter. Interaction is key. It is very important to capture our clients needs in the beginning of the project. So that we get their feedback and are able to tackle those comments in the beginning of the design. But it is not only about coming up with new products it's also new software, new services, new ways of doing HR, so innovation can be seen everywhere. In the past there has been a tendency to regard service activities as just fixing broken equipment. But if you look at broken equipment and you start to investigate why is it broken what is the root cause you start to generate ideas for product improvements. We get the opportunity to try and test the ideas that we have. It is in our culture. This is the Atlas Copco culture being innovative. Power connect is an app that allows you to find your machine information. And you will start the power connect app aim it at the QR code it will load and from that moment on you will arrive at the machine specific page. So at the moment we are testing how to use augmented reality. You can see the real world surrounding you and over that real world it superimposes visual 3D images, how to find the problem and that is delivering value to the customer. 24 years in I have not run out of ideas cause I do not stop having ideas. I do not stop innovating. The world doesn't stand still so we can’t.
