8 Driving Tips to Avoid Car Accidents in Bad Weather
How to drive in bad weather? A car isn't just a way to from A to B. It's a serious responsibility and a potentially dangerous machine for you and others, especially if you have to drive in bad weather. Luckily, there are special driving tips to avoid accidents when it's pouring rain, the road is covered in ice, or you're driving in thick fog. According to research done by American scientists, about 22% of all road accidents each year are due to meteorological factors. That’s why every driver is required to have special knowledge and skills that will help them to manage the car when the weather is far from good. Bright Side wants to help us learn how to drive when the weather outside is brewing. TIMESTAMPS: Driving in fog 0:37 Driving on black ice 1:43 What to do if your car starts skidding 2:42 Driving in heavy rain 3:48 Driving in the rain at night 5:16 Driving in the snow 6:02 What to do if your car went into a snow drift 6:43 Driving in a dust storm 7:38 #badweatherdriving #raindriving #fogdriving Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - If you're driving in really thick fog, turn off the radio and keep your windows rolled down. This way, you'll be able to hear what's happening around you to partially make up for your limited visibility. - Black ice is tricky given that, in most cases, you can't spot it until it's too late. When driving at night, your headlights can serve as a useful warning that there’s ice ahead since they’ll reflect off the road. - A lot of people who drive a stick have been taught that, along with letting off the gas, you should also change the gear to neutral. Professionals, however, recommend against this. - If you notice deep water ahead, just turn around. Driving through a large pool is too risky. You might damage the electronics of your car, get stuck, or even get swept away if the water’s moving. - Raindrops on your windshield act as lenses that refract light. As a result, they can temporarily blind you, especially if it’s pouring rain and your whole windshield is covered in water. Try to adjust your headlights so that the light doesn't shine up. - If the visibility is extremely low, slow down and turn on your hazard lights. Avoid using your brights since they can reflect light and blind you. - If you’ve accidentally driven over a snow mound on the side of the road, do not turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction. Keep the same direction as before and, while steadily accelerating, get back on the road. - As soon as a dust storm hits, pull over and entirely off the road. Also, make sure all your head- and taillights are off. If you don't turn off the lights, other drivers may believe that's where the road leads. They'll follow you and crash into your car. Do not resume driving until it's safe to continue your trip. California to New York: A Complete Road Trip
This is a complete road trip compilation from Santa Monica, California to New York City over eight different days from June-September, 2017 - all recorded in time-lapse at 4fps (nearly 100,000 frames total). Of the 3,253 miles (5,235 kilometers) driven, about 3 miles of this drive is missing, mostly in Colorado near Poncha Springs. Nearly all of this drive was done in daytime, but there is about 10 minutes of this video done in darkness in Arizona (about 1:00:00 to 1:10:00). The weather was good for the most part, except from Pennsylvania all the way to the Bronx, before clearing up in Manhattan. This trip also includes driving through the solar eclipse of August 21 in Nebraska (at about 3:30:00), as well as driving over the old Tappan Zee Bridge in upstate NY, which permanently closed a month later with the opening of the new Mario M Cuomo Bridge adjacent to it. The states passed through are California (0:00:35-0:40:54) Arizona (0:40:54-1:40:26) New Mexico (1:40:26-1:41:09) Colorado (1:41:09-3:07:17) Nebraska (3:07:17-3:51:05) Iowa (3:51:05-4:24:17) Illinois (4:24:17-4:50:42) Indiana (4:50:42-5:10:51) Ohio (5:10:51-5:39:13) West Virginia (5:39:13-5:40:48 & 5:47:09-5:51:52) Pennsylvania (5:40:48-5:47:09 & 6:04:43-6:32:49) Maryland (5:51:52-6:04:43) New York (6:32:49-6:50:03) The highest elevation of the drive was 11,539 ft (3,517 m) at 2:28:10. The highest elevation anywhere on the U.S. interstate system is 11,158 ft (3,401 m) at 2:33:41. Both of these elevations are two of the three continental divide crossings; the other, at 2:04:38 (10,856 ft / 3,309 m), is the first. The hottest temperature of this trip was 110 F (43 C) in Needles, California (about 0:40:16), and the coldest temperature of this trip was 53 F (11 C) in Tusayan, Arizona (about 1:10:04) - only about 230 miles (370 km) from Needles. IS ALASKA RIGHT FOR YOU? - How to Travel to Alaska
First of all, if you’ve never looked at a road map of Alaska, check out google maps for a minute. There are VERY few roads in the entire state. So unless you’re a bush plane pilot there are really only a few locations that are even accessible by car. TRIPPED TRAVEL GEAR We make and sell travel products on Amazon. They’re totally rad. Packing Cubes: http://bit.ly/PackingCubesSet2 Backpack: http://bit.ly/TRIPPEDBackpack UK/Europe Store: http://bit.ly/UKAMZNSTORETRIPPED Check out our Entire Alaska RV Roadtrip here http://bit.ly/TRIPPEDALASKA We’ve divided Alaska in to the 3 most visited regions in the state: 1. Interior Alaska: the home of Fairbanks, The Dalton Highway, Denali National Park and the cute town of Talkeetna Denali Driving south from Fairbanks to Anchorage there, again, is essentially one road. This less than noteworthy drive does however border Denali National and State Parks and is of course a huge destination for loads of people visiting Alaska. I will say though… Denali wasn’t exactly our cup of tea. If you are a backcountry hiker and camper Denali is a dream come true with limited hiking paths and very few tourists camping overnight in the backcountry it is EXACTLY the place to get away from it all. If you’re not Bear Grills, the only way to see the park is the park in the entrance parking lot and get on a school bus with other tourists. There is one road in and out of this huge park that drives towards Denali, the highest peak in North America. Of course the mountain I’m sure is a sight to see, only about 30% of visitors actually see the mountain due to weather. We did pull in to the park to see if we wanted to venture inside. You’re able to hike or take a bus from the parking lot to visit the park sled dogs which, at first I thought was going to be neat but seeing a bunch of dogs in their pens, I dunno, I’ve seen dogs before. Of course lots of people want to visit the part to see wildlife, but hey, it’s Alaska, there’s like a bear on every corner. You’ll see in our upcoming videos. The Kenai Peninsula In our opinion, if you are flying in or driving to Alaska you really can have a TOTAL Alaska experience by just visiting the Kenai Peninsula. Here’s 8 quick reasons: 1. People fly in from all over the world just to fish the salmon in the Russian River. 2. If you’re looking for other fishing, you can always book Halibut fishing out of Homer or Seward/seward. Hope you catch more fish than we did. 3. Kenai Fjords National Park is home to the Harding icefield and its 30 outflowing glaciers….or nearly 40 glaciers. The National Park site said both numbers. We can all agree that’s a lot of ice. 4. The Kenai is packed with wildlife: bald eagles, humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, sheep, bears…just to name a few. If you’re as bad at spotting wildlife as we are, you can always visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and see just about everything including musk ox, which might be our new favorite friends. 5. In the Kenai peninsula alone you’ll find some of Alaska’s best museums, aquarium and again, the Alaska wildlife conservation center. You should seriously go here. They have Musk Ox, again, which are awesome. 6. This is also one of the best jump off points scenic flights or sea plane adventures, including a trip over to Katmai National Park: Home of the famous brooks falls for brown bear viewing. Maybe you can get a shot of a fish going into a bears mouth. We didn’t. 7. The Alaska Railroad comes down here for a reason. It’s a beautiful trainride which we didn’t take ourselves, but we saw them next to us on the road pretty often. The road was beautiful drive therefore the train must be a beautiful ride. Also, online reviews say its awesome. 8. Whether you're hoping to explore mountains or ocean, from the coastal rain forests around Seward and Kodiak to the rough Arctic chill of glaciers flowing off the Harding Icefield—there’s a huge range of diversity here. South East Alaska Our last Alaskan region is South East Alaska also referred to as Alaska’s panhandle. Its popular on all of the cruises leaving out of Seattle or Vancouver. ----------------- MAKE VIDEOS LIKE US: FIN’S UDEMY COURSE: How to Edit Video. 50% OFF: https://goo.gl/dW5I1u MUSIC WE USE: https://goo.gl/ENAdF1 GIMBAL: https://amzn.to/2nYXnAM MICROPHONE: https://amzn.to/2JPdqeh CAMERA: https://amzn.to/2qzSRuv DRONE: https://amzn.to/2HHDHKT HANG WITH US: SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/timfin BLOG: http://timandfintravel.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/timandfin FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/timandfin

Death Valley National Park Road Trip - How You DON'T Want It To End
Death Valley National Park Road Trip If you're not a big fan of the heat, but want to know what it's like inside Death Valley, this Death Valley tour video might help. This is the road trip my friend and I took just before summer. -- MY MAIN GEAR: Camera Body - http://amzn.to/2sNIhiE GoPro HERO 4 Black - http://amzn.to/2sNLw9R Rode Mic - http://amzn.to/2sNgQ8J Canon Lens- http://amzn.to/2sNPcIq Tokina Lens- http://amzn.to/2va7eWn GlideCam Stabilizer - http://amzn.to/2sNLwXj Camera Bag - http://amzn.to/2va3cgj Bobby's amazing camera - http://amzn.to/2ufCmal -- Death Valley is one of the hottest places in the world. It’s also a short 4 hour drive away from Los Angeles. With summer approaching, I wanted to take a road trip out to Death Valley before it got too hot. My friend Bobby went with me. Neither of us had been, yet. We were only there two days yet I’d say we did learn how to road trip Death Valley successfully by failing at a few things first. Here are some basic tips to get you started: Bring a hat, sunscreen, and lots of water. And make sure you are 100% confident in whatever car you are taking out there. The conditions are rough. There’s virtually no cell phone service and no relief from the sun if you get stranded. Also, Death Valley camping is a thing, but I suggesting you know what you're doing. Because we wanted to make things simple, we just stayed in a motel in Beatty, right outside the park. As I said, we planned on making this road trip to Death Valley a simple one, but it turned out to be the opposite of that because of car trouble. I had to get my car towed. I’ll let the video explain that. Here are some more tips if you’re traveling to Death Valley: What to see when visiting Death Valley: -Father Crowley Vista -Rhyolite Ghost Town -Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes -Badwater Basin -Devil’s Golf Course -Artist’s Drive -Artist’s Palette -Zabriskie Point (I don't know for certain, but this seemed to be a popular Las Vegas to Death Valley tour route destination. It was super crowded with lots of tour buses and people pouring out.) -Dante’s View My favorites: Badwater Basin, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Artist’s Drive/Palette Devil’s Golf Course was pretty cool too. But mainly just because it’s fun to walk on. It’s razor sharp though. Also, If you road trip Death Valley, consider the car you bring because there are certain roads that are only good for high clearance vehicles. Most of top sights are all accessible via paved roads, but there are a few (like the Race Track) that aren’t. Where to stay in Death Valley: We stayed overnight in a town called Beatty. It’s right outside the east edge of Death Valley and much cheaper. There are also some town-like areas (used town very loosely) inside the park with hotels, cottages, and camp grounds. Consider staying in Furnace Creek, Stovepipe Wells, or Panamint Springs. If you're looking for hotels near Death Valley, you don't have many options. I'd say Lone Pine to the west and Beatty to the east are your best options. Death Valley camping sites can be found all over the park. But again, make sure you know what you're doing and go in a cooler month. We went in May to beat the heat, but it didn’t work. Death Valley weather is crazy. It was 110 and 111 the days we were there. The week before the weather was in the 90’s. The NP website actually says May is usually when it starts getting too hot for visitors. I hope you enjoy watching our Death Valley tour via video. It was definitely quite the experience. Embarrassingly, neither Elly or I had ever been to Scotland. Yet we've been all the way around the other side of the world to the far reaches of New Zealand... We wanted to change that and make the quick hop up from London to experience some of the best nature the UK has to offer. Our 2-day road trip consisted of a loop from Edinburgh into the Highlands via Loch Lomond, to Loch Ness, Glenfinnan and the Isle of Skye, before journeying back towards Edinburgh. Be Prepared: Winter Weather Driving Advice
We all dread it, but winter weather driving is part of life in Minnesota. Road conditions can become extremely dangerous with little warning. That's why it's crucial to be prepared and patient. Stay safe while on the road in the winter: -Avoid unnecessary travel if conditions are too poor. -Buckle up, and make sure child restraints are secured tightly. It is recommended to use bulky clothes and blankets on top of the child restraint harness, not beneath, to ensure harness restraints fit properly. -Drive at safe speeds according to road conditions, and provide for plenty of travel time. -Increase safe stopping distance between vehicles. -Use extra precautions when driving around snowplows by keeping at least five car-lengths behind plows. -If skidding, remain calm, ease foot off the gas, and turn the steering wheel in the direction you want the front of the vehicle to go. -If vehicle has an anti-lock braking system (ABS), apply a steady firm pressure to the brake pedal. Never pump ABS brakes. -Clear snow and ice from vehicle windows, hood, headlights, brake lights and directional signals. -Headlights must be turned on when it is snowing or sleeting. -Do not use cruise control on snow/icy/wet roads. -Equip vehicles with a scraper/brush, small shovel, jumper cables, tow chain, and a bag of sand or cat litter for tire traction. Blanket(s), heavy boots, warm clothing and flashlights are also important, as are storing high-energy foods such as chocolate or energy bars. -Be sure cell phones are charged for long trips, and inform family of destination plans and schedule. -If stranded, stay in the vehicle. -Parents of teen drivers should make sure new motorists experience snow and ice driving in a safe environment, such as an empty parking lot. From Minnesota to Louisiana. Driving from snow and ice to sunshine and water.
I am down in Louisiana doing work on a storm damaged house. The trip was just under 1,250 miles and took me from ice and snow to warm weather, sunshine and water. Driving from Minnesota through Iowa,Missouri, Arkansas and then Mississippi before getting to Louisiana was a vast weather and landscape change. Here is the trip.

How to Prepare for a Road Trip
Watch more Road Trip Tips videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/465-How-to-Prepare-for-a-Road-Trip A few skills and some well-chosen supplies are all it takes to turn your ride into a home away from home. Step 1: Make sure car is in working order Make sure your car is in good working order. No sense spending half your trip stuck in some two-bit town waiting for a new camshaft. Step 2: Get a good map Invest in a good map. And make sure your destination is on it. Step 3: Pack emergency supplies Pack emergency supplies, including blanket(s), flares, a first aid kit, energy bars, plenty of drinking water, and a working flashlight with extra batteries. Tip Invest in an electricity power converter. For about $50, you’ll be able to charge up your laptop, cell phone, electric razor and a lot of other gizmos, just by plugging them into your cigarette lighter. You can even buy an adapter that accommodates two electric devices at once. Step 4: Bring spare tire Make sure you have a good spare tire or a donut in your trunk. Or, at the very least, one of those 'tire-in-a-can' flat repair kits. And while you’re at it, make sure your jack and tire iron are where they should be. Jumper cables are a good idea, too. Tip Take along a spare car key, and leave another one with a friend who could overnight it to you in an emergency. Step 5: Bring pillows & sleeping bags Throw some pillows and sleeping bags into the back seat so you can snooze in the car or take advantage of camping sites. Super-store parking lots are also a popular place to crash overnight. Step 6: Bring credit card Have at least one credit card with you for emergencies. Step 7: Bring snacks & meals Stock up on snacks, and meals to cook on your car engine while you drive. The Internet is full of easy recipes you can download. Basically, all you need is some nice chicken, fish or chops, some vegetables, a little seasoning, lots of aluminum foil, and a hot engine. Tip If you’re driving in hot and sunny weather, bake cookies on your dashboard with slice-and-bake dough and aluminum foil. Step 8: Take collapsible cooler Take along a collapsible cooler or two filled with ice to keep your beverages cold and food fresh. Step 9: Be realistic Always be realistic about how much driving you can handle. When you’ve had enough, pull over and call it a day – or night. Did You Know? Ellen DeGeneres was voted the celebrity Americans would most want to take a road trip with in a 2007 survey.

Coonoor To Mysuru Road Trip | D2K Part 23 | Delhi To Kerala
Day 12: Coonoor To Mysuru: It is a scenic road that takes you through quaint towns. I have to admit that the route’s charm comes not just from its good mix of countryside landscape but also its quaint towns. If you’re fascinated by the idea of driving through the jungles, this will be one of the most romantic road trips in India you’ll ever take. Driving through the Bandipur Tiger Reserve, there are fair chances you’ll spot some elephants along the way. So, keep your cameras ready! Highway Apostle with his family crew went on this 5800 Kms. trip from Delhi to Kerala. We spent 22 Days and 21 Nights. We welcome any queries pertaining to this trip or any other. Mountain Biking in New Jersey | My Ultimate 48 State Road Trip
All the crazy weather during fall time finally worked in our favor. The Trick or Creek jump jam at Mountain Creek Bike Park was postponed by a week, so we decided that would be the first stop in New Jersey. From Mountain Creek we headed over to the Jungle Habitat with the trail boss himself, Jeff Lenosky for a solid day exploring the old abandoned safari theme park.

EXCLUSIVE: Winter driving all Teslas in Alaskan snow | Sideways Included
Electric cars are often perceived as terrible choices for winter driving. That reputation was only reinforced when the current wave of Tesla Model 3s got their first taste of the cold, resulting in a swath of complaints about frozen door handles and stuck windows. But is that reputation deserved? we traveled to Alaska to put every one of the company's current production machines through their paces on snow and ice -- and have some fun while we were at it. Road tripping the California Coast (Los Angeles to Santa Cruz)
Come along on a road trip with my boyfriend and I as we drive up the coast from Los Angeles to Santa Cruz...and surf along the way. Disclaimer: Being cold was a common theme throughout this trip. I'm from Southern California, so I complain if the weather is anything less than 60 degrees haha. To be fair, the ocean temperature was probably around 52 degrees and the air wasn't much warmer. NRMA Insurance tips for holiday road trips
For a checklist of holiday road safety tips click here http://www.nrma.com.au/help-information/keeping-safe-secure/road-safety Planning a holiday road trip? For some handy hints, watch whitewater kayaker Jim as he prepares to hit the road. This is Jim. Jim takes on raging whitewater in some of the world's wildest rivers. But there's one place Jim won't take chances -- on a holiday road trip with his family. Before leaving, he checks the weather forecast. Rain makes driving tougher and it's good to plan ahead. He's an ace navigator, but he's still prepared with GPS, maps and his mobile phone. He packs food... and plenty of water. In remote areas, water can be hard to come by... ... torch... first aid kit... and spare batteries -- a must for travel after dark. He's checked his car insurance (http://www.nrma.com.au/car-insurance) is up to date, and keeps the details on hand, just in case. The gear always piles up... he checks it all fits and doesn't block his view of the road. His car's in perfect running order. The tyres are pumped ---- [aside] oh if you're not sure of the right pressure for your wheels, check the placard on your car, usually inside the driver's door ---- and he measures the tread. 4 to 5 millimetres or more? Great stuff. Now Jim's off to pick up the family. He's had a good night's sleep -- the essential start to a safe holiday road trip -- so he's well rested and ready to go. Safe driving Jim Jim's Road Trip Essentials • Maps or a GPS • Mobile phone & charger • Water and food • Car insurance details • First aid kit and torch For more holiday safety tips click here: http://www.nrma.com.au/help-information/keeping-safe-secure/road-safety
